Ask and we'll try our best to assist - so here's 2024 Provisional AFL Draft Order

As normal, would like to acknowledge & thank Lore for creating this, keeping it up to date and making it available for all users on BF to use and keep track of the picks ahead of the upcoming draft

I'll also sticky this post to ensure it's easily accessible for discussion of our hypothetical trader

Also,

Free Agency Closes: Friday October 11 at 5.00pm

Wow. I hope the mods let me post this, just this once.
I have a neighbour whose daughter is lvl 3 and non verbal. I see how hard it is.
Follow Neuren pharma. It's an Aussie company.

They are trying to do everything in this space. And ph3 trials are coming in 4 months. I dont know your specifics but just (maybe ask) to see if you could be included in Australian trials. If they even do that.
They already have an approved drug for retts. They specifically target kids.

Thought the info may help.

Mods try to not be total ass's - especially when content is of benefit to others

I wonder what Demp does over the preseason. Concentrate on running again…or try to put on some size.

Medium-term and long-term I have no doubt they're going to build him into an on-baller, but I don't see a need to try and expedite that by bulking him up too much already. Just continue to his current development, let him grow into his body and use him in his current role for maybe a season or two more before we start the transition to permanent on-baller.

My oldest has level 3 autism and moderate intellectual disability. We think he might possibily have CP (not directly related) but waiting on an MRI to be done and some genetic testing. Our 5yo has level 2 autism and ADHD (I do understand TK's dilemma re the kids). We are lucky these days that the assessments are better than they used to be.
My eldest has level 3 with ADHD but none of the others so far. I can't fathom how difficult it would be with two.

I said earlier that I think we hold our cards close.
Martin, Smith, and the Oliver situation cant be a coincidence.

I think we've green lit (no pun intended) Oliver.
Both of the Bulldogs and Melbourne have just been squeezed if thats the case.

AND, we are going to lose someone. Close? Miers?

We cant keep them all.

Maybe one more year on the wing for Ollie but the way he moves i think he has a bit of Connor Rozee about him

The good thing is Dempsey (21), Holmes (22) and Smith (23) are all pretty similar ages so they'll be peaking at the same time and that peak should last for a decent amount of time too. In 2 or 3 years when Dempsey has developed into an on-baller, that inside mid group is going to be super exciting and should ensure we have a top-tier midfield group for a good half a decade, with a solid mix of attributes: Holmes provides the explosive acceleration and is the meters gained player with exceptional kicking penetration, Smith is the hard-running bull, and Dempsey offers creativity and scoreboard impact. So long as Smith's knee doesn't turn out to be a recurring issue, I now feel confident we're going to have our midfield sorted out prior to Tasmania's arrival, which was a big worry previously.

Still need a Jez replacement for the three of them to kick to though, but that's another story...

Funny you say that mate bc I actually had touerettes and epilepsy as a kid (plus the ADHD though you wouldn't know it these days I'm old and tired ha) and one of the things we are testing now is to see if charlie has tourettes too (I think it's likely but it's hard to tell since he's non verbal) but the Mrs and I are very keen to look at the full scope of treatment options. I'll look them up online and PM you later so I don't derail the thread. Thanks mate (sorry mods)

I don't see why we would have to lose a player in this situation

Also look up Neurotech. I dont think they'll be as successful as Neuren. But they are also trying .

Look at all of our small forwards.
Think of Martin, think of danger as he ages.

Think of our draft picks.
Draft picks in 2026 will be a nightmare. Tassie will be gifted everything. We need to draft players.

I'm all for 'lets get everyone' but I'm also wary of 2026-2028

We dont need to lose anyone this year but players like Atkins and O’Connor will struggle for games if we land Oliver also.
Atkins can always play BP and that means Bews might end up back in the VFL once more

The only team Close would likely be traded to is Port in an exchange for Butters

Edit - not as a direct swap, but as part of any trade. There's been talk of Butters to Geelong going back a few years, and not sure where the connection comes from but Close gets mentioned a bit in terms of a trade to Port

Sad moment for the doom and gloomers who were certain no nomination from Smith yet was a concern 😂

And a giant go f**k yourself to any Hawk window lickers who had convinced themself it meant he actually wanted to go there 🖕

Won’t be either of those two if we have to shed a player or two. I’m thinking Atkins or possibly Kolo. Doubt it though.

The most at risk players going forward would be Bews, Atkins, MOC, Blics and Duncan

Guthrie a possibility depending on health

We aren't going to push out younger players for Martin.

Giving the Poo & Wees a bit of hope to then snatch it away is chef's kiss

Bailey Smith isn't going to the Dogs B&F; he's down on the Stanley farm chilling out.
