A walk up starter in a Prelim, absolutely zero chance a 27 year old from the VFL is ‘at worst’ that calibre.

Tom Atkins finished 6th in the B&F in a premiership year then runner up last year. He was in our first mid rotation come finals.
He's being asked to do more than you'd want but the chance a long term VFL player becomes better than him is extremely slim.

We just dumped Parfitt who wasn't bad at that.
We are looking for explosion I'd say.
The only way I see us trading up is if we have a definite player we want who slips.

"I want a chance" …and then he is drafted by Brisbane..and he sits in the VFL? Geelong drafts him…does he get picked or just spend his time like Hardie? Is that what he really wants? Surely he need to be drafted by a club that he is a legit chance of getting a game. Rich have just run a train thru their list… one would think they could find a spot for someone like him while their young star picks … get some age and games..
The system needs revision … and that should be known now after multiple times in recent years..
Not how it works. Hardie doesn’t get games bc he isn’t good enough.
Rich, Nth etc etc will just prioritise youth. The only chance he has is with a club who considers themselves a contender

I guess one would have to ask Hardie if he felt he had a chance …or is having a chance getting a chance to show what you could do at the top level? No doubt being on the list is an achievement… and glimpse inside the pro environment.

Is he expected to slide to 45?
Funny to say that about North considering who they have brought in.
As in trade up to get him. Him or Hotton but the latter is probably unrealistic.
Hotton will go to one of the clubs with multiple picks in first round... he has very high ceiling, but also a risk factor with the ACL
Reading that Trainor has had concussion issues…. be interesting to see what sort of slide might happen
