I'm prepared for a heap of thumbs down & a raft of no's, BUT I'll throw it out the anyway

There's been reports that Carlton has made an approach for SDK offering pick 12 which we declined pretty quickly - if they came knocking again, this time offering picks 12 & 14, is it something we'd potentially consider?

We know that Tom Barrass was linked to Hawthorn, but with them pulling the trigger on that picks trade with Carlton, that potential trade is now on hold - was Barrass's move about specifically getting to Hawthorn or would he be open to playing in the hoops? A ready made KPD option and we could offer a similar deal to what was originally offered by Hawthorn?

We could also use the other pick as a straight swap for Bailey Smith, while keeping our own first round pick

Could open the chance to turn SDK into two ready to go players
We'd be asking for trouble. We can't cover his loss

No shot Carlton offers 12 + 14 for SDK.

They don’t even wanna cough up 14 alone for dual AA Houston.

If offered… I’d eat it up.

12 plus 14 would get you to definitely sit down and think about it.

Consider everything …. but I doubt we do it… as we seem to be loading up for the “now” ...

it would allow us to really add a couple more high end kids …and add smith and Oliver as well.

It woudl probably put us back a bit down back as COS is probably further away than Sdek in 2022. But if we are a risk taking club then… "consider it” ...

2nd-4th year midfields.

If we get Smith and Oliver they'll probably (rightly) judge that their opportunities may be limited here in the near term.

We're very good at giving kids opportunities if they deserve them.

Between Parfitt (9), Tuohy (18), Hawkins (12) and Rohan (12) we've lost 51 games played last season. So that's 2 players that open up each week.

Even if that's a straight swap to Oliver and Smith there's a stack of games from older players (Stanley, Duncan, Bews, Danger, Blicavs, etc) that could be taken by youngsters with these guys being phased out or managed.

If you're Knevitt, Clark, etc and can't get a game next year it's cause you're not good enough.

People have to remember that SDK has to agree to any trade and he is contracted so how often do contracted players get moved?
Everyone says, “Well Tom is there so he MUST want to go there?”

Based on? What exactly? Sam himself already denied leaving, he lives in Torquay and plays footy with his best mates (Holmes, Bruhn, Henry)

You’d imagine if he wanted to go then the denial wouldn’t have come from him just over a week ago.

But what makes us think Sam is hell bent on getting to Carlton?
Is the opinion that Carlton are more in the window than we are? Sam plays key back for the Blues on similar to less money (Carlton already won’t have a lot of cap space as they are currently trying to push guys out to save room)

TDK himself may not be there soon.
He’s going to get godfather offers to leave.

Seems like Blues fans keep pumping it up on SEN and Trade Radio as like a brainstorming dream scenario with no actual basis of anything happening.

I’m a fan of SDK, but if Carlton offered 12 + 14 for him, I wouldn’t be able to sign in the dotted line fast enough.

If you thought there was a very good chance he could move at the end of ‘25 you’d have to take it.
Even if he's guaranteed to leave i don't think we can. We won't get nothing for him regardless. If he leaves there's a very high likelihood of relying on Furphy for a block of games in the ruck and/or COS for a block of games 1 on 1 defending.
