I agree. But it's possibly due to your environment and culture. Eddie betts is a prime example. He went from good to great.
What changed? If your club environment is that good then I would think you could steer thru the loss of 2 first round rounders.
Risky? To a degree. But I'd be backing lower rated players stepping up and seizing opportunities.
Of course, but Gibbs is a proven performer. We don't have time to wait for young players to stand up. We are in our premiership window, not waiting a couple of years for young players to evolve.

Or if we continue to develop players maybe the window will last long rather then paying overs for an earlier stronger window.

You reckon? This is a club where both Wright and Kerridge finished top 10. That would suggest that you don't have to be real good to finish top 5, especially when you look at their ladder positions over that time.

I'm not saying Gibbs is no good, he clearly is a good player. But don't pay more than he's worth.

Or look at it the other way, and proof is Eddie Betts.
A very talented player in an average team can only do so much. A very talented player in a very talented team can go next level.

You don't reckon there is anyone on our list capable of taking big steps as a mid next year? We had some good youngsters developing in the twos last season. Riley Knight to come back as well.

We need A grade mids, we have enough b and C graders. And no, nobody on our list who hasn't been exposed to a lot of football is capable of becoming an A grader. We have to face it, with our current midfield we would likely go backwards next year.
