The close losses will probably cost us a final, which is about where we're at in the rebuild, right?

I sure didn't have us confidently winning 13+ games to play finals 🤷
Even year, we’ve matched it with everyone so far. Plenty of firepower up forward, when it’s not wayward.
Bad kicking cost us 3 wins.

Still should be aiming for finals. Does seem like a make the 8 and anything can happen type affair.

I couldn't believe when Milera dropped that mark in the centre of the ground in the last quarter and then lost possession as well.
And then followed it up with two kicks directly to Collingwood players.
He's had enough chances by now and needs to be swapped out for Parnell
You can't have so called experienced players making those sorts of mistakes at that stage of a match
He's not experienced thanks to his injuries

Has anyone mentioned the s**t awful sympathy/mercy free handed to Frampton that got the pies started with his goal? We were getting butchered up forward non stop and had way worse done to us in ruck, but Pies get the soft gimme goal starter.
It's been overlooked because of the run of green we otherwise received, especially in the last. The non-frees to Murphy and Johnson were shit that wouldn't be missed in U9s.

Didn't play to the conditions from Q2 onwards when it started getting a bit slippery

Played our same way - lots of short passes/leads, lots of handballs around the clinches. Has been working other weeks but became unstuck/messy tonight

Needed to keep it simpler. Collingwood more prepared to soccer or knock it on into space

This was an absolute killer - it was slippery all night, and while we ran and spread, and moved the ball well in the first quarter (and if we kicked straighter should have had what would have been the deciding buffer), by the second quarter we were still playing the same brand of millionaires football that was only going to result in turnovers for the conditions. It was idiotic and frustrating.

If people want to know where we got outcoached, basically from here on in when we did not adjust to the conditions, and then in the last quarter when we dropped Dawson back in defense and had one short in our forward line (allowing Moore & co to continually cut us off). On the flip side, geez you have to be impressed with the way McRae gets the Pies to consistently play intelligent football at the death.

I think Nicks should put a hold on the players over the top goal celebrations until they have strung together a number of good wins against good opponents, and even then keep the celebrations in check.

When Aker used to do his handstand thing, it was always after the game. There’s something to be said about that!

I remember being at footy park in 92. Lost to Collingwood by 5 points in the rain. Mods took a hanger on his chest.

Anyway, that’s set the tone for the next 30 years. Always lose to them, often close ones too. It’s an abysmal record.
It's the only team we play against where I never feel confident of winning, regardless of ladder positions or even if we are dominant in game. I never feel comfortable against them, it must be our worst record against any team, surely?

Listening to the presser. Nicks said they subbed out Soligo because they wanted fresh legs. When has Soligo ever had trouble running a game out? Nicks admitted he was playing well too. Then he went on to say he can't judge Schoenberg's game because the ball was trapped in our backline all quarter so he didn't see much of it. That isn't true though. There were a few key moments where Harry could have influenced the game but he butchered his disposals.
He isn’t likely going to come out and say publicly that Soligo didn’t have the legs to finish the game out or that Schoenberg was ineffective when he came on. Privately, however, he’d no doubt be having words.

We aren't going to win the premiership. Or end up on the Top 4.

It is. 32-15
From memory we’ve had a couple of purple patches against them but they’ve dominated the match up.

Nah the crowd comes to watch these players.
Drop them if they aren’t performing to standard.
Why would you want to take the flair out of any player.

He's played 80 games, how much experience do you need to mark a ball ?

His one wood is supposed to be his sublime skills but the scrub kicks hitting up Collingwood players suggest otherwise.

He hit one Pie defender lace out with noone with 20 yards on one occasion.

Why do you think Nicks sent that message out?
If you're serious, ok.

I did not mean a literal "message", like via the runners.
There's no question he went defensive when they cut the 14 points to 7.
A soon as that happens, players stop doing what they did to get 14 points up in the first place.

Hey, maybe with a minute to go, stack the backline and play keepings-off.

It's timid football. Gutless.
I'd prefer them to lose by 2 or 3 goals by attacking than by a point by retreating.

If we won I reckon there would be a lot more love for Sloaney's tackle of McCreery in the 3rd, I thought that was the type of act which would spark us to win. The Sloaney we all love has returned over the last couple of weeks.

Would need to see the replay but I thought it was a tough ball to mark. Problem was his kicking all night was terrible. Not providing anything right now and if he's turning the ball over then he should be dropped.
Wasn’t the easiest mark, he changed positioning right at the end I reckon which upset his balance.

On a positive note, how good was Michalaney again! Seriously good footballer. Has been our most consistent youngster all year. Rarely had a bad moment.

Another positive is that although we were soundly beaten in the middle, we were on top of one of the best sides in the comp. It's frustrating to lose again, but we've definitely made big improvements this year.

Our midfield is still a concern, but we're doing better than I thought we would be.
