You're joking!!! I didn't realise that. That's ****ed. Aliir you deserve better. :( He's a great defender and critical part of their team, just does him a disservice.
I agree with most of this but Aliir is not a great defender. He's great when he can zone off but one on one he's useless. It's no coincidence now Fog has risen and Thilthorpe provides an option his influence in Showdowns is zero cause he actually has to defend one on one now.

Can anyone tell me who the hell Francis Evans is?
From Geelong, couldn’t get a game in front of Stengle , Miers and the glengetc

Can play
Lots of good tonight, so I will concentrate on what I thought was the best (and some that may not have been mentioned):

Tex. An easy pick for the Showdown medal, and a career/All-Australian year.

Milera. If not for Tex, my BOG. The best game I have ever seen him play, the most fearless as well as skillful.

McAdam. Ran his nuts off all night, contested everything - his first quarter shook up Port, and opened up Tex and Fog to one-on-one contests.

Keane. Finally rewarded for great SANFL form, and despite a nervous first grab of Dixon, went on to own his territory. Well done!

Combined with Worrell, Hinge (and Butts until injured) Ports forward weapons of Marshall, Finlayson, Dixon and SPP were impotent. Take a bow guys!

Nankervis followed up a great debut with another great pressure game - he belongs, and plays a lot bigger than his slender frame suggests.

The Bad: Port's "concussion protocol" or complete lack of. This has got way beyond a joke. As it is, Brad Ebert for starters should be getting ready to sue their butts off for negligence, and a player like Aliir is way too good and important for them to be treated with such disrespect (not to mention a young talent like Jones). The AFL should step in to demonstrate this is not good enough, and it stops right now.

The Ugly: We have to stop booing JHF for no particular reason. We are better than that. I was proud that our supporters didn't resort to booing Adam Goodes during that ugly time, but to see that tonight was disgusting. He is a kid. He has done nothing to burn our club. Sure, do it to put him off for a shot a goal, but to do it anytime he is near the ball is stupid, childish, disrespectful and pathetic. Like I said, we should be better than this.
perfect summary other than matt crouch - best mid on field

agree re jhf , great to watch an elite talent from SA , esp when we win, i love him

I had a bit of a feeling so I drank my morning coffee out of my Crows mug this morning instead of the Ninja Turtles like normal. You’re welcome.
These are the things that count towards victories

OK, it's nearly 1250a.m. here and my eyes are hanging out of my head after 2 late nights of Ashes.
I thought, "The Poms are all over us at Tea. I'll just watch the highlights before I go to bed".

Mistake :( :drunk:.

How am I supposed to sleep after Tex's SCINTILLATING SEVEN??:hearteyes:
THAT goal off the L-foot after selling Aliir a bag of candy!! Who else in the Comp. can kick a 50m goal off their non-preferred foot?

Not ashamed to say my eyes stung a little when they announced the Medal winner and the boys got around Tex.
They love him. WE love him.

Glad you enjoyed it!
Rest that back and sleep well :)

I see you well and truly won the longevity test between yourself and porp_is_hot_loz :p
Bloody hell, that's a blast from the past.

Back in the days where the likes of WALL-E, Campbell's Chunky and Maccas_no_1 were getting around.

Great game by Hinge, kept SPP very quiet and he provided some solid rebound.

Crouch very good, led the clearances with 12, the next best 6. Should've been playing instead of Sloane.

Amazing Tex, deserved the medal. Took the game away from Port in the 3rd quarter.

Milera also very good, love his run and carry.

Great win for the club.

Ugly:
The port doctor who didn't even conduct a head clash test. AFL should strip is accreditation, hopefully the media runs with it.
Didn’t the AFL step in at one point and force us to keep Doedee out for a week due to concussion?

Meh, he's no star for them, he's omitted every second week.
Whether he was going to play or be dropped isn't the issue, it's just blatantly spitting in the face of player welfare at this point if they're trying to get him out of concussion protocols by listing his injury as a migraine instead of a concussion.

Does anyone on here work in the field of medicine?

Are there multiple schools of thought among the medical community about the effects of concussion?

Are there some "concussion deniers" who think the long term effects are overstated?

Or is it universally accepted that head knocks are a big deal?

No, but I love my boxing and have boxed for more years than most on this board have lived

Once again, when Alir went down like he did, you stop the fight as he is at that stage, unable to protect himself. The duty of care, to send him back on amazes me. In boxing, the referee, a guy without a medical degree, stops the fight, he does not ask for a doctors opinion, it is common sense that a person who loses consciousness should not be put in harms way, it is a duty of care.

I was incensed last year in the Richmond game when they sent the players with a head clash back out, that was worse than tonight but both are wrong.
