He wouldn't be the first coach to go from GF too missing finals. God knows we know that
Yes, some similarities.

Some sides really struggle the next year after a poor finals exit.

Port another this year.

What were you doing on the roof during the game?
Replacing it! Haha, the games seem to be at shit times for me at the moment.
Had to get some work done before the rain Monday.

Good
We got smothered a few times going inside 50

Stay with me...

Tex once, Berry once and can't remember the other.

The "good" is because we are taking a fraction longer to pick out a target and kick the ball lower. Not bombing.

We went through a patch of bombing today from halfway through the first quarter to about halfway through the second where we were shithouse - lots of possession, controlled the play, nothing to show for it, long bombs into the F50. Tim Spud O'Brien made to look like peak Matthew Scarlett. Basically Crows Football 101, the abysmal brainless garbage we've seen for however long.

Then we smartened up. Got out of it. Started using handball, freeing up players, hitting shorter targets. Game opened up and we looked dangerous again. The odd smothered kick is a small price to play for ball movement that involves some intelligence.

Even perennial hoofers like Laird and Crouch appeared to be looking to hit a target upfield by foot at times.

For some context on Beveridge's demeanour, Mitch Wallis' mother in law died yesterday after a car accident and assistant Travis Varcoe's mum died yesterday too.

Overall I thought he gave us a lot of praise actually.

They usually replay them over night (like, 2am) then the full game will be on demand after that.
Yeah I’ve got a mate who I’ve shared one of my device logins with, so he hasn’t got the box to watch from.
I would have thought the full game would have been available as soon as it’s occurred.

Funny that a common view of Keays is something along the lines of,

'If he cleaned up his kick, he'd be elite.'

So many elite players don't have that kick. Tell me how Keays this year has been different than prime Danger. Seems like just because we got him for free, and wasn't rated elsewhere, we actually have a higher bar for him?

He is absolutely elite. He is everywhere, creates so many opportunities from his hard work. Forward, centre, and in defence.

One of the best in the comp. Fight me.
I'll say the difference is Danger didn't live up to potential, particularly with the crows, whereas Keays is getting the most out of himself.

Good

O'Brien - best game for him since 2020. How much that is due to Stefan Martin playing like an inanimate carbon rod will be seen next week.
Tex - EAD McClure and Caro. Started 2022 like 2021. Would love him to continue it and win the Coleman + AA and play finals.
Frampton - peak Jeremy McGovern played for us today. I don't understand how, but that was outstanding. Still some basic defending skills to learn but that should come.
Keays - just a beast competitor. We are so lucky to have had him find his way to us.
Doedee - probably worthy of the golden fist award this week. Punched everything and chose when to mark better than he has in a while.
Crouch - thought he was instrumental. Didn't get 30 touches but thought it was comfortably his best match of the year to date.
Jones - best game for Chayce since 2019. That's what he can do with a bit of confidence. Was good to watch.
Honourable mentions to Murphy, Butts, Berry, Sholl and Laird for good games.
Smith, Dawson, Brown, Hately, McAdam, McHenry, Cook and Gollant were all either serviceable or pass mark. A large reason why we won, not many passengers.

Bad
Goal kicking. Had an extra 6 shots on goal and yet only won by a point.
Cody Weightman constant flopping for frees. He's an absolute disgrace.
Missed 50m through protected area cost us a goal. And yet commentators want to whinge about the 2 seconds lost for the last bounce.
There really should be more seating at the Ballarat stadium. Roughly 40 percent had to stand, not a great experience.
McHenry really needs to learn how to tackle or influence a contest without giving away free kicks. It's infuriating. Another three frees against today.

Ugly
Free kick Bulldogs. Blatant corruption.

He was great today, only needs to become better at the one on one stuff to improve. Hope he can because teams will try and isolate him to get the better of him.

Yep good post. He’s been very good the last two weeks but as soon as teams start focusing on isolating him 1v1 he will be tested again.

I love the fact that it’s ALL Ken’s fault. There’s not any inkling of suspicion that the fact that they are a constant disappointment might have something to do with the players.
Against top 8 teams and especially top 4 teams he cant coach they have been woeful and if not for their easy draw against lesser teams id say they would of been 5 to 8th at best never top 4
