Frampton - peak Jeremy McGovern played for us today. I don't understand how, but that was outstanding. Still some basic defending skills to learn but that should come.
Really good post overall. I've learned a lot from EH's resurgence and from Frampton's self-resurrection as well.

Last week, I lamented that Frampton appeared to be playing better because he was "not as bad as usual".
That was unfairly dismissive and incorrect. I was so disenchanted with him (from last year, mostly) that I overlooked the positives.
it was the start of him showing real signs that he was improving, shown by his break-out game today and he sure has won me over. The consistency will come, with EH too.

The best thing about today was his contested marking, as if in the space of a week the penny has dropped and his previously brick hands turned into ball magnets.
His positioning was much better --- someone (Doedee, an assistant Coach?) has been telling him where to stand/ move to, and it's working.
I've called him useless, a log, a spud and other too-critical comments --- there's no doubt any more that he can football, is of AFL quality and should get even better which is great for him, the team and Nicks.

I am not even gagging on the humble pie. Frampton's contribution to a never-give-up, tough team win was as delicious and sweet as the win itself.

During the Freo game, I made a call that Keays wouldn't be good enough for a contending side.

Utterly shocking call, what a player. Even if he has a couple of deficiencies (goal kicking mainly) he's a fantastic leader who runs all day, gets the ball moving forward whenever possible and just gives the team a real boost. He will be a long-term player for us, and he was free!
I too was wrong.

I want South Australians to stop watching these football shows. If they want the viewers produce an unbiased product.
The only things they'll highlight from our game will be the Laird collision - should he get weeks? - and the 2 seconds lost at the end by the crooked bounce. Did it cost the Bulldogs the game? Vic reporters: Impossible to know... but definitely yes

I missed the game as I was umpiring netball all day but Gee it was an amazing feeling to check my phone and see we won. Was absolutely shocked. Must have been a fantastic win, hopefully means we never have to play in Ballarat again.

Give us the Cairns game over Ballarat if we have to play regionally

So my opinion from being there today conditions were perfect and absolutely no reason either side should have disposed and kicked for goal as badly as they did. Apologies if some has been alluded to Iā€™ve had beers and just got home

Frampton was huge in the backline one of if not bog for us today but Butts deserves a shit load of applause for his game. Nullified Naughton throughout.

Oā€™Brien was good today. Albeit against opposition he should have been but was still very good.

Rachele whilst quiet was clean with the majority of his touches. I think first quarter he scooped one up nearly right in front of me and it was just a silky pick up.

Keays I thought was slow today but maybe that was everyone seemed a lot of players who werenā€™t quiet there today from both crows and dogs and he was one.

McAdam just needs to nail some set shots and will be a dangerous player.

Jones was good I thought. Made a lot of contests and offered a decent attack the other way.

Brown didnā€™t let Weightman near the ball all day. Full credit to him for his game.

Cook is classy and gets to the right spots. Not sure if he needs to be used more or the opposite he needs to find/demand it more.

Scholl was good across the other wing.

Laird/Crouch were themselves. Didnā€™t appear to have a massive effect on the game but werenā€™t passengers.

Doedee was good and had some nice intercepts/spoils/contest creating.

Others I canā€™t begrudge we won. Himmelberg probably the only one just didnā€™t crash the pack/create the contest enough and was caught lacking on a few occasions.

Otherwise apart from goal kicking a decent enough game.

Given the comments by many posters, perhaps you might check out the great 70s album Frampton Comes Alive on spotify?

Sorry, I'll see myself out.

Check it out on Spotify?? I lived through it before the internet was invented!šŸ˜„

Several times today I couldnā€™t help but say to my wife Frampton comes alive!

I was trying to work this out today, there were large periods of the game where the ball got stuck on one side of the ground and he held his shape the other side, helps the team but doesn't help your stats.
I thought his intercept mark in the second quarter when weightman was going to get an uncontested mark was a huge moment in the game.
Watching the game seeing how well Frampton and O'Brien were playing I was wandering what the comments would be on this forum

Big Bad Billy. What a game!

Ever since I saw him live last year vs North Adelaide at the infamous game at Prospect where he had 30 odd touches and dominated the back line, I thought he could turn into an AFL KPD.

I thought after a preseason as a KPD he might get there.

Still lots to learn but we have found one here. His spot to lose and if that's the standard then all of a sudden our defence looks solid and he is more of an offensive weapon than if he is a forward!

We sat opposite side to where the majority of the game was played.

So was hard to pick up people in and under feeding it out and complementing them but Cook sat on our wing majority and was just there all the time. And when I say there was there and right whether it was ignored or not looked for or whether it was a lack of demanding the switch to open up Iā€™m not sure. Hard to know with the way the game was played. Was scrappy and contested throughout almost like a wet weather game.

But in saying this Cook was everywhere he should have been offensively and defensively and probably gets overlooked as he doesnā€™t have 20+ touches

Perfect conditions?
Looks like the ball is being blown across the ground from shots on goal watching on tv.

There wasnā€™t a breath of wind. I was begging for it after a couple of beers and the sun. I honestly think both teams put enough pressure on that kicks were shit and the goal kicking well I canā€™t answer that but both were horrible at that too
