Taylor Adams does the job on Lachie Neale
There was little doubt John Longmire would have a plan to slow down Brisbane's two-time Brownlow medallist Lachie Neale, and that plan came in the form of Taylor Adams. While others lined up on the red-hot Lion at different times, it was Adams who was tasked with the job for most of the day. Not only did he, and Sydney collectively, keep Neale almost invisible for three quarters with just 10 disposals, the veteran midfielder had a major influence himself with 20 touches that included a goal and eight score involvements. To his credit, Neale lifted in the last with eight touches to have a say in Brisbane's comeback.

Wouldn't be beyond the realms of possibility that horse brings him in for his experience and to do a job. Brayden comes out funny feeling.

It's interesting how at the height of ~Craig McCrae Mania~ many thought it was a sign newer younger coaches were the way to go.

This year's grand finalists:
Horse - 14th season
Fagan - 8th season

The losing prelim finalists:
Hinkley - 12th season
Scott - 14th season
I think this might be a slight sign a survivor bias. It makes sense that all the clubs that have a been around the top for the last half a decade to a decade keep their coaches.

Rayner, Payne, Hipwood, Neale, Answerth... that seems like a lot of players managing injuries/training loads to bring into a Grand Final. Neale looked like he could barely move on Tuesday.

Much has been made of Brisbane's two comebacks but less attention has been paid to the ability of their opposition to score on them quickly. Their run and gun has paid off two weeks running but we're also a team that absolutely thrives on turnover, so it's a pretty high risk, high reward strategy.

It might come off for them on Saturday but, gees, I wouldn't want to rely on that approach for a third week running because it's a very, very tiring way to play footy. It also hasn't been mentioned at all that GWS was forced to activate their sub early due to injury and Max Holmes spent half the third quarter on the bench when they played Geelong. Yes, they lost Oscar but, in terms of run, Holmes was a much bigger loss and that's where the game was ultimately decided.

I would put my focus on McCluggage rather than Neale because I think he made a big difference for the Lions in both games. He's a hard man to tackle so maybe Rowbottom would be the best man for the job. I'd send JJ to Zorko and tell him to get under his skin. Zorko was utterly putrid for the first half against GWS when they put some attention into him.

Hold fast, people. Our best beats their best.

def agree on going to mcluggage..
Jordan to mccluggage
Cunningham to Cameron
Rowey head to head with Neale
If fox plays I can see him getting a role too maybe to Zorko or Rayner

Well, it's 50/50, we either win or lose
Just checked this over and you're right.

What I think the team will be:
No Change - Campbell Sub

What I would have the team be:
In: Adams
Out: Fox
Sub: Campbell

No thanks we need height. Fox has to play period

He has to go to Zorko I rekn, everything starts through him. Need to just try and beat Mcluggage at the coal face with team defence.

I too am getting the feeling that Saturday may go our way. Just this sense that things will click for us early, and we will lead from start (like against Port), then extend that lead, and then Brisbane will at times challenge but we will always have a response, then have the fresh legs at the end to close it out.

Swans have been preparing for the grand final since mid this year. Training loss were optimised, players are rested, only fit players are selected. Swans have learnt since 2022 that intensity lifts in a GF, but also that you can’t drain your mental energy too early. We are primed.

Brisbane has been fighting just to make it. Pushing hard to make finals, then having the come from behind to scrap through their finals. They have several players playing with injuries and through pain. Their legs are tired. The media is somehow backing them and stacking on the pressure not to lose 2 from 2. They will have belief if they fall behind, but I think their heads will start to drop if we respond quickly to their challenges.

Just a gut feel. Game could literally go in any direction and I would not be surprised.

Adams not named emergency again is a curious one.

Not overly surprised that we're going in unchanged. For all this talk about Adams he hasn't played in a month. I'd rather back in who we know. He's had most of the season to cement his place and hasn't always delivered

I've had horrid mental health for a while. I have my very first psychiatrist appointment in 3 hours add in a GF and I'm ready for a lay down already ha ha. I hate feeling nervous about a game of footy I have no control over
To indulge me cos I need to tell someone. Today I was diagnosed with ADHD at 42.

Feels good but strange to know.
