Peaking at the right time?

They lost to melbourne, beat Brisbane, struggled to get over us and then beat a garbage Melbourne.

Not to mention, Eagle’s Optus form is incredibly deceptive. They’re a different side over there.

In the heat of a Collingwood filled MCG kitchen, it’ll be a different story.

Except it wasn't when we played them there just a couple of months ago.

I know Grundy's had the best season ever....but WCE's rucks and mids match up really well against us. Brody might need a bit more help this time. Gonna be a big factor in this game.

Lol I actually said th same thing after Friday night. I was content. I had witnessed us smash Richmond in a final. After finishing 13th last year, Friday night was fine by me.
I wish I could say the same thing. My in-laws are all Richmond. Frightful. Normally friday night would have been enough. But I live in WA. Man Eagles supporters are absolute floggers. I will have to hibernate for the summer if those flogs win. Please Pies, I beg you. Win. Win. Win. Then my life will be complete.

This grand final has caught me unawares. I didn't expect we would be here, and I am struggling to see it as reality.
I don't understand the tactics that have done it. I only see the games on TV, and whatever wider view would let me see how things are set up so our overmatched defenders can win most of the time is denied me.
Looking at history, this team has worrying similarities to our 1980 grand final side, where tall forwards (Roach, Cloke and Jess) monstered us. Bartlett was lionized for his role, but it was on the back of the big men. This time it is four very big and strong men that may do the same. The game is very different now of course, and we have some big forwards too. (People seem to discount Mihocek as a big forward, and only consider Cox)
So i am drifting into this year's Final in a bit of a dream, sort of hoping that I don't wake up before the really good bits.
The mega difference this time is we in 1980 were a bunch of basic hard working types overall.

This year we Have Pendlebury, Sidebottom, Grundy! And emerging great talent.

It’s reality :)

So if they are busy with Grundy who handles Cox?

It wasn't a "Collingwood filled MCG kitchen" though. It was a half-full MCG (53k) on a Sunday afternoon. We were missing Treloar & Goldsack, plus Cox withdrew before the match... then during the game we lost Langdon and Sier while Darcy played with a fractured finger. I think Sidebottom came out of it with an eye injury too?

They lost Nic Nat before HT, granted, but since then we've got a host of players back, they've lost Gaff and against us in Week 1 also Sheppard.

All things told, I believe we're in the stronger position here, and with a full MCG dominated by the black and white, to me we're a very, very good chance of picking up premiership number sixteen.

God I hope so. I have hope but very little confidence. I think that's just my defence mechanism preparing for the worst.

Relax all, this is our year. Nothing surer. A cakewalk of a premiership coming up. Enjoy the day, night, and weeks that follow.

interesting that ALL the talk is how Collingwood can cope with WC talls. and yet as it stands at the moment it's forecast to rain. say WC should be looking at dropping one of their talls.

It's forecast for like, 0-5mm in the morning. So pretty much insignificant

Yeah they will drop JJK probably
honestly. yes their weapon is their talls. but if it rains it can realy impact them. so the option is likely to drop the weakest Tall. Vardy. drop Vardy though and who does the backup ruck work.. we hold all the cards atm

Just for future reference, a 'gorilla' is $1000 is betting slang. Haha.

I think you might've meant get the monkey of the back by finally having a bet..?

Bloody hell. Now I see how foolish I sounded. I don't know betting slang obviously, but part of me wanted to have a punt on this one. I don't know why.

You getting away from Half Life 3 development to watch the Grand Final live Gabe?

Very poetic euphemism right there!! Blimey we really did cop it that day didn't we?!! No wonder we faded so badly.

I reckon we were cooked after seven wins in a row. The Essendon game the previous week was a cracker, but we had to fight tooth an nail just to get up. They caught us on the hop, but this time we have had a sighter against them in a high pressure final, came away with no injuries and pride intact.

We will be ready

Lets hope the boys can find another notch and dig deeper than ever for number 16, what an epic side Bucks has assembled.

They smashed Richmond to get here, now smash the Eagles and finish it.

I know it's a cliche but it's gonna be won in between the arcs, for wc to win they'll need to win in the middle. A big ask I know, for us we just need to apply our trademark pressure like we did in the QF - for 4 qtrs this time.

If we let them off the chain wc will win, if we win in the middle we'll win.

For mine I can't see Collingwood taking the foot of the gas in terms of the pressure game and that is the road block to a wc victory.

Collingwood by 24

The Grand Final will be won and lost in the middle, if our midfield doesn't stand up and West Coast get first hands on the pill they will drive it long to their twin towers in Darling and Kennedy and it will push pressure on our defence which for me is RED ALERT. Our mids need to turn it into a contested ball game, win the hard ball, then spread quick and move the ball forward. We do that and we give our defence every chance!!!

West Coast love the long kicking game with space, can't do that! I genuinely believe we have a 3-4 goal better side at the MCG. If we bring the pressure from Friday night I think we will win our 16th flag, if we are 2-3% off then it is going to be a 50/50 game.
