While it would create a far better contest for Hall to play on Saturday, the tribunal MUST suspend him.

You cannot go around whacking people in the gut and expect to get away with it. Hall is an ex-boxer and whilst it may appear like a short jab, I would suggest it would hurt quite a bit, give Barry's boxing skills.

Hall must go for what he done, there is no if, no buts about it.

Unfortunately, he is going to get off on the "in play" technicality. That was all but assured when his action was judged reckless instead of intentional.
The MRP carried out their orders well.

but its grand final and hes a great player so we should bend the rules to let him play or all the sydneysiders and queenslanders will go back to watching rugby and any kids playing afl will be called ****ters

the kids will probably get sick of getting called ****ter so they'll quit footy and end up in on crack and in the martigras.

for the good of a drug free hetrosexual australia, we MUST let barry play!

So the Hall decision comes down to Aussie Rules the sport vs. Aussie Rules the business, if we start letting players punch other players in the stomach for no good reason than it suits a potential expansion market to do so, then we are killing the game faster than a few meatheads switching back to thugby ever would.

What does the fact he's an ex-boxer have to do with anything? The point of the whole suspension is about what occured on the field last Friday night not what he's done previously in his life.

I know why he's facing suspension, but in the big scheme of things and given other penalties (or lack of penalties) handed out to players this year he really should be playing on Saturday, but I guess it all comes down whether it's head or tails when the tribunal flips the coin.

Gardiner's hit on Chris Johnson = Hall's hit on Goose

If the AFL want to change the rules now, fine but don't think for one second that justice has been served.

If he can get off he should(technicality or not). It's hypocritical of a lions supporter to say otherwise. Johnathan Brown got off on a technicality Ala 'rough play when there was no play taking place'. Hope he gets off. The game is being umpired out of existence

Your flimsy evidence would be throwen out of a court of law in seconds.

That's the heart of the issue, yes. Being fed a diet of british bulldogs 1,2,3 for generations, rugby watching markets haven't developed their palates to appreciate skill over biff.

But unfortunately it won't do anything about idiots

Hall's hit on Goose = Judd's hit on Rawlings

exactly, double standards from these WCE posters...

If its a pesky tagger on Judd then a jab is permissable because the AFL wants to send a message that tight tagging is not in the spirit of the game, yet if its "Big Bad" Barry jabbing a backman (who rape Hall every week), its impermissible because he has the look and image of a "thug" (despite impeccable record over 3 years) and after all, he is only a forward...

He should be suspended judging by what happened during the season to other players, but we all know that going to the tribunal is a completely random thing.

Exactly. I always thought they could have a giant chocolate wheel like on 'Price is right' outside AFL house. Where it stops no body knows. Ranging from a lifetime suspension to cleared.

You can use Judd, Archer and whoever else to compare Hall's actions to, but the precedent you continue to sidestep is that set by Gardiner's suspension for 3 big ones, for INTENTIONAL contact, which was by far a more similar set of circumstances to Hall's.

It's all academic now anyway as Hall is guaranteed to get off IMO. But the precedent it sets will be one that is not in footy's best interests. Again, my opinion.

By the way, just for the record, pesky tagger or not, Judd deserved to go for backhanding baker IMO and didn't bat an eyelid when he did, likewise Gardiner.

Realistically, Hall's hit was worse then Gehrig's, Judd's or Gardiner's hit, but I don't think he should get suspended. It was a supid thing to do, but to be suspended for the biggest match of the year is a way harsher penalty. They can't really let him off, but I reckon he should be able to play.

Just on SEN that Hall has given his evidence.

Apparently really odd because he did not put up much of a case. He basically said that he was a physical player that wanted to make an impact on the game and he hit him because he wanted to get into the best possible position for a lead, and that is all.

I find that very surprising........although once the rest of the swans heard throw their weight in it will be a different story.

I really do hope he gets off for the games sake!

As long as its for the right reasons and not just on technical grounds like being negligent instead of reckless or in play instead of behind play. And not so it will disadvantage Sydney from winning the flag for the sake of the national game.
