Firstly, the "No Kane Cornes" Rule is back

Henry sounds promising, the right age profile and meets a need for our future forward line …….. see Bruhny boy both of us can play your game. You’re either in or out don’t like the stringing us along thing.

He is a Geelong boy and there are currently 3 maybe 4 ex falcons team mates currently at Geelong. Add on the never ending "go home factor" of local boys and the obvious home ground advantage, Geelong was always going to be his number one choice. I really want him but if he does cone to us because Geelong grab Hopper, will he walk back home in 3-4 years time? Just a couple of minor alarm bells now from my end now ...
These alarm bells are completely fabricated though.

Nowhere did that post say the that Bruhn prefers Geelong. There had never been any indication that he does, aside from journos making the same connection you have.

I think his dad is a hawks fan and I believe the lad himself is an Eagles fan (though I could be wrong), I could also make assumptions and assume - like many non Geelong fans who live there - that he actually can't stand the cats....

In this post you've convinced yourself that he does and then give on to question whether he would go on 4 years. Loads of people are itt.

The hand wringing itt is getting a bit out of hand.

We need quality young players, whether they come through the draft or trade. I am okay with losing a 2nd for a player the quality of Henry.

I think his worth is a very late first or early 2nd, i do not believe Mitchell is worth that currently. If Mitchell is the main piece of a Henry trade we absolutely have to add more to the deal.

I think the biggest factor in any player trades is going to be what we do with our 1st round pick.

Option 1: Take 6 to the draft and miss out on the top 4 mids available (Ashcroft, Wardlaw, Tsatas and Sheezel), picking up one of the next batch. We would also be unlikely to get the best forward in Cadman who will also be gone. There seems to be a gap between those 5 names and the rest of the kids available this year.

Option 2: Trade up to get pick 2 (West Coast) or 3 (GWS) and grab either Tsatas or Sheezel. This would result in us losing probably Brockman and our 2nd rounder, which then dilutes the possibilities to trade for a Bruhn - it would require us to get a reasonable pick for Mitchell (for example) to on-trade.

Option 3: Split pick 6 (and change) into two mid-teen picks and get the best mid remaining (e.g. Hollands, Hustwaite) and then use the next pick on best talent available. Getting in the extra young talent reduces the need to get in players like Bruhn and Henry.

If we are as keen on Tsatas/Sheezel as it appears, that would be the priority and we will try and lock in pick trades before moving on the existing player market.

We definitely don't want to move too much in future picks as we will hope that McCabe remains a top 10 (or better) prospect and we need the points to match.

Interesting times...

McCabe is a CHB that can swing forward.
I’d also mention DGB could be part of a trade not in your options to get pick 2.
Ideally we’d use our first round pick next year and then use points to match on McCabe.

Does anyone know where McCabe is projected to go next year? If it's too early then we may lose our first next year if a team before us bids on him.

May bring our future first for next year into play this period.

We likely won't be losing a 1st, Davo-27 has him at 28 I believe. Has the tools for a big rise though.

i have him in my top 30 for next year, im being a bit cautious as i would like to see how he performs at a higher level than u16's and school footy on a regular basis, but he has the raw tools, i just want to see if they stand up to the pressures of higher standard leagues.

I'd like to preface by saying I want to keep DGB, but has anybody considered Pick 6, DGB and Brockman for pick 2 and pick 38?

That way we retain pick 24.

If we receive a pick in the 30's for Tom Mitchell it means we'd have multiple picks to potentially use on a Bruhn, Flanders, Henry or any other young player we might be targeting.

Have to laugh at the Parish posts. If you track back, it all seemed to come from a random caller/text to SEN.

Never change, Big Footy.
Same as the Henry stuff, although I do have a contact that says it is an outside chance. I cannot see Collingwood off loading him however.

Henry has only been mentioned in the context I allude to, and scoffed at by others.

It's been floated but I would only consider it for pick 2+20

Yeah I mentioned this exact trade early on when people started throwing around DGB trades. In my defence I only mentioned a trade of DGB because someone else had posted that he might be homesick which soon after was shot down by various ITKs that he was settled and happy.

If I'm West Coast I cannot get my pen out quick enough

No, they got it from a magpie fan account .
Yep HawkTalk quoted a post from a pies fan account. It's only natural that a young promising player, that is not in his sides best 22 and is out of contract is going to attract the attention of other clubs.

Hopefully the magpie fan account has gotten it right, we'd be silly to not be offering him a deal.

I've heard the DGB trade 'rumour' as well.

Just feel it would be unlikely for him to sign on for 2 years before the 2022 season even starts if there is any chance that he is unsettled or has a 'go-home' type concern.

WC may well ask for him to be part of a trade - it would be silly for them not to given the age of Hurn and McGovern. We have a lot of bargaining power given he is contracted to us for 2 years.

Before Blanck and Jeka started coming on I would have been angry to see him traded - but given where we are at right now a trade that loses DGB but gets us one of Wardlaw/Tsatas/Sheezel would be fine with me.

Make it 2 and 26, and as reluctant as I’d be to see DGB or Brocky go I could get my head around it if we ended up with Tsatas, Bruhn, Amon and Pick 24 in the door.

You’d think, and hope, that any trade involving Ollie Henry would include Tom Mitchell as well.
What if instead it involved Grundy, who will get locked out of the Dees if Jackson stays?

Didn't Carlton do something similar for Judd? I am still a bit reluctant to give a KPD (I know that's up in the air still) for mid
