Gotta be willing to pay over market value for it to mean anything, who cares if you have 1 mil available if you are only going to pay someone who is worth 700k the 700k. Now i am not saying we need to overpay for players who aren't worth, but at the end of the day having more money is only relevant if you will splash it around.

You are right that he plays a different role to those players but how many Suns players do we need to see get traded as reserves players and become best 22 in 'much better teams'?

The fact you still need to spend 95% of the cap on a list that has players that will get over paid is frustrating. This is still the downfall of the Clarkson and GW final years. Targeting the wrong players and allowing hawthorn champions to walk out the door .

That's the thing, if Geelong can do that, then why would GC need to dangle pick 7?

Feels like this is going to end up like pick 2 for Lachie Weller level incompetence from GC. AFL needs to cut their losses with that joke of a club, it can't be trusted to look after itself.

Maybe (I dont genuinely have much hope of this) the AFL will step in to force this much like they changed the rules on the fly when Buddy went to Sydney - didnt they state explicitly that the terms of the contract would have to be included in the salary cap regardless of any restructure?

That was in regards to free agency contracts. They must be honoured to prevent a big offer to prevent matching then being renegotiated.

Like what Luke Ball did in the national draft to get to Collingwood.
