Firstly, the "No Kane Cornes" Rule is back

I am told tonight by a reliable source we have improved our chances with Bowes and Pick 7 to 50/50. We have the best offer. It is over to the kid. Tomorrow I think. Geelong will be very hard to beat. A media source I trust, slightly favours Geelong.

All that said, if we had got all our ducks in line we could have had this in the bag. Anyway, let’s see how it pans out before I make further comment.
IF we have offered an extra $1M then Geelong over the four years and he doesn't choose us then questions would have to be asked.

Hey guys,

Gotta admit, even though we've been stoked by the idea, we've also found the decision a bit strange on his behalf, so seeing the latest reports emerge this morning about the Hawks, I reckon if Bowes has got guaranteed mid time and better financial terms, it's probably you guys. Would be stoked if it's us, but Hawthorn definitely makes more sense on most fronts, IMO.

Just wish he'd tell us all already!

Be honest mate, you just want his block of land - don’t you?

Geez comparing this to the Cogs situation.
Cogs was supposed to take our midfield of Mitchell, O'Meara and Wingard to round us out and finally become a midfield force again and the rebuild would have had the fast forward that was promised. COgs - a ready made premium A grader to go with all our other imports.

Compared to this situation:
Bowes is an emerging player on huge coin with a draft pick attached.
I want the draft pick. If Bowes comes with it and turns into something great then sure.

Getting very excited by potential outcomes here - relax a little everyone.

I think people are just comparing the ongoing consternation. That said, it's different to the Cogs situation but just because no one outside of this board really had the Hawks as the favourite. Everyone assumed he'd be going to Carlton.

Pick 7 aside, pretty confident that if he does change is mind and choose us he comfortably gets a game in our midfield. Assuming TOM goes to Collingwood, he only has Newcombe getting a game ahead of him. I would argue that he is a better mid than Worpel, JOM, and Nash. This along with the better $$$ must be at the forefront of his mind. Back to Geelong, despite Selwood's retirement he still has a battle to get a regular spot in their current midfield and has the incoming Bruhn to compete with (who is arguably a better midfielder)

This one's gonna hurt if it doesn't go our way.

Buying a top 10 pick for 2 years of salary on a young-ish player who is probably best 22 anyway is a dream scenario for a rebuild. Then the downside of gifting the Cats after their premiership. I'm keeping myself in check but I understand why it's cooking everyone's brain.

Mate the way our Midfield currently operates we could possibly ask him to be player/ assistant coach.

In what world is it possible Saints will get pick 25 for Ben Long, yet we might get pick 27 whilst paying salary for Tom.

Bizarre.
