Of course you play him every game in the final year of his contract, that's why hawks gave up pick 14. Was probably on $400-$450k

Hawks are doing similar, playing him every game possible, the only difference is he is on $900k and his market value isn't top 15.
Look, he won a Brownlow two years later...and 3 Crimmins.

And you have no ****ing idea what he's on.

Can you please stop talking absolute shit for a while.

Dig up stupid.

Was probably BOG behind JPK for Sydney in their Grand Final loss.
Maybe Hawks list managers can use that to get some extra leverage at the trade table..

3PCM's, 1 Brownlow & "probably BOG behind JPK in losing GF"

Now we are talking..

So they play a bloke every game who they don't rate, which then makes their team worse (because playing someone better would make them better, right?) just in the hope of a team offering a first round pick that they were not guaranteed to be offered.

He was 24 in a team that was a very good team, you don't play someone every game in a year where you could win a flag just to get increased value for him because you don't rate him.

I don't mind being critical of players, especially if it is with merit. Mitchell is slow. He is not the same player since he broke his leg.

I do take offence to lies and bullshit which you are spewing. Mitchell was a young gun for Sydney. For a time he was the best midfielder in the comp that wasn't named Dustin Martin with us.

He's no longer that player but he has 3PCM and a Brownlow, and deserves a modicum of your respect for what he has done for the club. **** off with this pepe le pew bullshit.

That Sydney only played Mitchell in 2016 to increase his trade value. I am critical of Tom now but that is utter horeshit. He'd played 19 games and averaged 27 touches and picked up 12 Brownlow votes in 2015 - he wasn't getting games to pump up his trade value.

Clearly he played because he was in their best squad, but was probably the 5th best midfielder in a strong team.

Swans had no problem moving him on. It was either Mitchell, Heeney or Mills. Swans got it right.

Unfortunately over the last 2-3 seasons, the Hawks been in no position to drop him, would have ruined our return come trade time. We tried last season but his salary for 2 years was too much for any club to take on, even with hawks helping out.

It wasn't either Mitchell, Heeney or Mills. You're literally reinventing history here. Heeney and Mills are both local boys that had been on the Swans list for 1 and 2 years respectively, they weren't going anywhere. If anything it was Mitchell or Parker and Mitchell forced their hand. Mitchell wanted more opportunity, where better to get that opportunity than a club who was interested in him and were in the process of losing their best 2 midfielders?

Sydney wanted to keep him, given he was a strong contributor in a GF side, but they weren't going to be able to pay him anywhere near his worth given the loss of COLA and Buddy's exorbitant contract. Similar to how we would have kept Kennedy if we could have, but Sydney wanted to pay him more and they saw him as more of a core player.

Sydney didn't move him on - he walked out just like we didn't move Franklin on

Sydney had to invest more $$ into Heeney & Mills, see ya tom.

This thread IS for your:
  • Trade ideas
  • Players you want us to target
  • Where you argue the value of a currently listed HFC player
  • Where you argue the value of opposition players
  • 16 player mega trades that see the Hawks make out like bandits
  • Ways to get more first round picks

Hopefully, but the ignore button certainly improved 2023's output
Let's see how it pans out this trade period. I'm tipping we get a bag of chips for him.

Hopefully we don't forget to mention the 3 PCMs & Brownlow part, just in case the other teams where not aware of this.

At this stage of the year, being Rd 19, how many brownlow votes you think he has notched up?

We know where he stands with the coaches votes..

Straight swap TOM for Jason Castagna…3 pcms vs 2* premierships seems about right. 😂

Can we ban the name "Jason Castagna" from any of our trade threads please? :(

Appreciate the lecture. Thanks.

As Cal Twomey said yesterday gold coast and lions will swap picks as lions need huge points for Ashcroft and Fletcher and suns can get multiple early picks that the lions don’t need seems like it’s a no brainer. I don’t see how we get another early pick except for a salary dump or trading out futures but we need to be confident we will rise up the ladder so maybe that’s a next year activity
