Firstly, the "No Kane Cornes" Rule is back

Hawthorn, led by coach Sam Mitchell, who gave the most impressive pitch and offered more money in the last two years of a four-year deal.

Adelaide was the most desperate to get him while Brisbane was understood to be incentivised by the draft pick and points on offer.

But Geelong’s interest spans over more than 18 months and came well before the lure of pick 7 while Bowes wasn’t interested in going to a rebuilding club after spending six years at the Suns.

Bowes has obvious links to former Suns skipper Gary Ablett and his relationship with Dangerfield stems back to his time with the Allies under-18 team, with the premiership midfielder driving him back to Melbourne after assisting coach Brenton Sanderson.

Dangerfield has wrapped his arms around Bowes ever since, becoming a confidant for him throughout his career.

Cats coach Chris Scott, Dangerfield and recruitment manager Andrew Mackie were all part of a meeting with Bowes where they pitched a role that would see him used across the every part of the ground, rotating through the middle like many of the players.

Bowes is understood to now be jumping out of his skin to play at Geelong and earn a spot in the team’s best 22.
All of that may be true I don’t know but it doesn’t seem to align with the need to offer pick 7 if the cats were so interested.

Think it was probably more the fact that he got smashed after the Bruhn posts. Why would you bother with that kind of reaction?
Did he really get smashed? Can't please everyone but I think most posters understood that he'd given his best intel and things had shifted.

Couple of dicks went agro despite his info being entirely accurate.

I think we can probably deal directly with Bris: Jack and 52 for 38 (hopefully).

Package 38 with Tom to Collingwood for 16 and call trade period a win.
Collingwood won't lose pick 16 I wouldn't think unless they have a similar pick coming back at least from somewhere else otherwise they are entering the draft at pick 38.

They will likely have 25 and 27 from Grundy and Henry trades, but I still can’t see them handing over 16 when they have no need to.

And this is our problem how? Tom is contracted and Walshy is on the other side of the fence in negotiations this time. We'll likely end up with pick 25 or 27 but don't put it past Walshy to give up 16.

It will boil down to if they value two picks in the mid 20s v on pick at 16. Presently their second pick is 41. They may not want to use it and could prefer a pick slide. Only playing devils advocate as I agree they won’t likely do it but hard to gauge their priorities from the outside.

I'm not syaing its our problem, I'm stating why that scenario wouldn't get done. Unfortunately both parties have to be happy with the deal not just the Hawks side.

You mean Wrighty yeah?

The German Hunter has already posted the Pies are heavily into Lewis Hayes for Pick 16.

I think people need to start asking themselves why would we trade out of the first round if the boot was on the other foot, and then apply that thinking to what we are hoping other clubs will do for us.

I can't see us getting much better than 27 for Mitchell. Not sure he's high enough in Pies priority list for more than that, and we probably want to offload him more than they want him.

It depends how badly the Pies need Tom. I can see him as the missing piece with Adams continually injured and Pendles on his last legs

All I meant by my post was that we push for pick 16 and then it will likely end up being one of those picks in the 20s. Anything less than that then we keep Tom for the final year of his contract.

Holding Mitchell for another year just means we get less than him next trade period.

Every game he plays in 2023 would be a game taken away from another player who would be part of our next flag tilt.

I just don't see the benefit.

have we actually been linked to Schache?

anyone feel like giving me a rundown of where we are at after the weekend as i completely tuned out

If nothing else, I do love your optimism!!!

Don't expect much. We're likely going for a slow rebuild, no quick fixes or trades for the sake of trading.

Amon in as a FA was a great get.

We will trade Gunston for something in the 40s.
Mitchell is likely to go to the pies. Either a 2nd rounder or two 3rds.
We may or may not get Meek.

That's probably about it.
