Firstly, the "No Kane Cornes" Rule is back

my guess would be they see 21 in the Dunkley trade
It’s definitely possible but you can use more picks in bids than you have list places. So you can’t trade in 25 late picks to make up the points. I’m sure there are some caveats and clauses that make it more complicated than I describe but broadly that is the mechanism to stop clubs trading out of the draft to meet buds in the first round.

Has anyone done the maths to determine the material difference this makes to the lions? Less than a 100 point slide. Seems immaterial but maybe impacts the fletcher bid.
It doesn't make a material difference.

They've got 3621 points, it's likely 2400 of those are eaten up by matching Pick 1 for Ashcroft and probably about ~600 matching for Fletcher. That 100 either way isn't a big deal for them.

correct, not sure what the connection is to Dunkley though?

I mean that they had a first and traded it out and Dogs werent happy then they did it again and Dogs again said they were annoyed so doing it a third time might be too much for the Dogs to agree to a deal

Fair in the sense that we have no bargaining power. But it’s a deal we should do, and even throw in some junk in the 60s to help balance the points for Brisbane
1. They don't need the points.
2. Why do we need to help them?

We have plenty of bargaining power. Brisbane have all the work in the world to do to nail the trades they're working on, and we could just let Gunston walk to the draft. He's not making it through half of the clubs that have a pick before they do.

Yep I’d rather move up in the order than get picks in the 50s. It’s a crap outcome regardless. That was inevitable once Gunston chose to leave once eligible for free agency

The alternative is a pick in the 40s or 50s.....

We may not take that many players in the draft so that pick would be worthless to us. Might as well upgrade our earlier selections
We're on record saying we will be taking 4 picks to the draft, chances are who ever we want at Pick 21 will be there at 24(we can move up on draft night if need be) more at play than just wanting to move 3 spots.

Jackson’s deal is imminent, the gates are about to open up!
