Firstly, the "No Kane Cornes" Rule is back

Value is subjective. He should be valued to at least one team in 20-30 range.

It’s kind of mystifying how glorified draft picks have become.
What's even more staggering is that if media reports are to be believed, we should be coughing up more for Meek (a WAFL ruckman) than we receive for Mitchell (a Brownlow medallist who just finished top 5 in the B&F in his worst season for Hawthorn).

I don't know why people are proposing this strategy on the Gunston trade.

It it wasn't for McStay joining Collingwood we'd be getting ZILCH.

Any pick we get is a bonus.

Plus, Jack has given everything to the Hawthorn football club and has now endured a personal tragedy resulting in him seeking a fresh start. When you consider my first point, why would we make it harder for him as a human being to get to the club he nominated to play for as a free agent?
Understand your points but you haven't read my post properly. Collateral damage for the betterment of HFC future trades. I don't care about names involved.

This is why we need to stamp it out right now! This line of thinking by media types and clubs has to change ! This is the right time to do it.

Spot on they think we should get less than the Long trade with the Suns

Just wait until after it’s done and they trot out those exact details to show what a bargain it was and how he could be the missing piece of the puzzle for a Pies flag etc

Two things...

1) Weideman is an average footballer. He's had 7 years in the system and has shown about as much as Tim O'Brien did with us. Purely a footballer that shows glimpses and then disappears.

2) We will not be accepting picks 41 and 50 for Mitchell. That's similar value for what we accepted for Mitch Hallahan back in 2014. Not happening.

Seeing as Tom will be a restricted FA next off season, what's the chance we'd be awarded a second rounder if we don't match his potential new contract?

Let's say we finish bottom 4, we'd get around pick 23.

Yeah...given how we've fared with free agency compo to date, I'd be more concerned about the AFL taking a second rounder off of us!

He'll get to Bris no matter what.
With the FA window closing, there’d be an understanding between hawks and lions of what the pick will be and an assurance to Jack that it will get done, I think they’re waiting to see where things settle.

I imagine it’ll be the last trade both clubs do, and the best pick Brisbane can offer without affecting their points for Ashcroft; whatever’s left over.

There's a really simple solution to that.
Don't!
