Gunston just kicked 5.4

Would you not agree that despite having a ripper of a game, his best is likely behind him?
Let me get this right, are you comparing Dustin Martin with Jack Gunston?

Don't get me wrong, massive fan of gunners. But, come on man...

Yes, in as much as the best of both players is behind them.

Check the highlighted line of your post that I replied to.

I reckon Mitchell would take a late 2nd ish.

Martin a 1st round + change.

In saying that I expect both players to be at Hawthorn and Richmond respectively next season.
yeah if we were offered pick ~35 for Mitchell there's not much point in taking that

if you could leverage a future 2nd + Tom for a late first I'm sure we'd entertain that, however

If Dusty did depart and Cotchin either in his final season next year or retired - I would love to offer a chunk of Tom's salary and maybe a future 3rd to get Richmond's first pick in the second round they have from Norf. Based on the present ladder that is pick 6, 19 and 24 to the draft - pretty tasty.

Chances are Richmond would only entertain that if they got some earlier picks for dusty.

Currently Richmond have picks 9, 19 & 27

Sydney have 13, 17 & 31

Would Swans offer 13 & 17 for Dusty + Richmond cover part salary?

Keep in mind Swans premiership window is wide open for next 3-4 years.

Richmond would have 9, 13, 17, 19 & 27

Hawks offer to cover 50% of t.mitchell salary for '23, of course hawks would be asking for pick 13

Hypothetically leaves Richmond picks 9, 17, 19 & 27

Is Taranto worth pick 9?

Could Tiges then bundle up picks 17 & 19 to jump higher?

Gold Coast have three second round picks; 25,32 and 33. Maybe we could try and trade Mitchell to Suns if he’s keen on a move up North? And pay 60% of his remaining salary?

Someone on here mentioned they'll likely do a deal with those to get the Lions' higher picks in the event that Ashcroft nominates them.

Was mentioned definitely by Twomey - maybe by someone else here also.

Re. the Dusty convo - if Richmond get a first round pick for a 31yo who's played 8 games since round 18 last year, that would be an absolute steal for them - they get an ageing star off their list, clear $2.6 mill in cap space, and get a first round pick in.

IMO, a mid-2nd rounder would be about right - with the pick to potentially go up only if Richmond payed some of the salary.

I don't understand why we don't make a run at Taranto. He is a better bet than pick 6 or 7 which is what we will end with - we should trade it.
He would also improve us more than pick 6 or 7, in relation to the rest of the comp, who also get their first draft picks too.

Taranto will probably end up at Richmond or Essendon if he leaves GWS.

2.6 remaining on his Martins contract. Sydney’s 1st pick (pick 15ish) for Dusty and Richmond’s 2nd (27ish) seems fair to me
Hope it happens, I’d love to see dusty and bud in the same forward line…hopefully at least one of them is injured when they play us though

Listening to SEN tonight Andy Maher etc talking about is everyone mature enough to know a player is leaving and referenced a Port player and Hawks being done which everyone knows about. You would assume Amon is done based on what most media is saying

Good news for us if true, however I still have a problem with announcing these things mid-season if that's what is being suggested.

If Tom Mitchell publicly announced 3 weeks ago that he was moving to Richmond next year, would you want him playing every week in a Hawthorn jumper if we weren't a premiership contender? I know I wouldn't.

I think I would. He’s best 22 and I’d want us putting out our best team every week. Wins are good for the young players confidence, and wins come from the best team you can put on the field.
