Hawks chasing Rance/Gibson/Lake

After watchin Lake on the weekend I would prefer to keep pick 9, try and get Goose MaGuire and put the faith in this back 6:

Birchall - Maguire - Ladson/ellis/hodge/mitchell
I don't know if Lake is that great as a one on one defender. Buddy pulled his pants down last year and destroyed him

Some ripping initials right there, but I was implying that the news was 'bullshit' not that a particular player/coach/country singer was coming to the club with initials BS.
Anyway - these sort of 'announcements':
1. Don't happen during week 2 of the finals
2. Usually rely on a series of cascading events to fall into place, making a planned announcement extremely unlikely. (however, something like T Boyle's retirement may be part of the whole picture)
so I'll be very surprised if anything is announced.

Buddylg, I like the look of that back 6. Given Maguire can not get into the Saints team, surely he would be looking for other options, making it at least somewhat realistic at obtaining him too.

btw buddylg... lake defensively is top 3 in the league. Against buddy last year... buddy kicked only 3 on him and they were all amazing goals! only one was a mark! It was Morris that got his pants pulled down

Based on todays Herald Sun we are still pretty keen on Gibson.

A lot of people say he is too short at 189cm to fill our needs. I disagree. Gibson is very athletic and strong and has played well on Fev, Brown and Riewoldt. Isn't this the player we are lacking???

I have to say, while I don't think he's worth pick nine by himself, I think that is the only thing I'd trade him for in a supposedly weak draft. Giving up pick 21 as well is too much I reckon. Gibson had an excellent year when he played back, and his poor games were when we tried him as a midfielder/tagger.
