Autopsy Hawks vs Buddy Boy and the COLA kids

What if buddy kicked straight, what if roughy did!?!

Rough kicked 4.4, that's the same about of scoring shots as franklin!

It's overlooked hat the hawks should have had the game wrapped by 1/4 time, and I love it!

The swans are like Geelong in 08
Can't kick to save their lives, and it'll cost them come finals

We've kicked 52 more goals in total then Sydney this year and are averaging 3 more goals per game too. What about the Swans star studded forward line and their manic pressure they apply when they don't have the ball? Like the times they allow the opposition to go coast to coast because players like Tippett, Goodes and Reid are witches hats when they don't mark it.

Of course, the sands of time may prove me wrong, but I honestly don't think we'll let the Swans do to us in 2014 what they did to us on the last Saturday of September in 2012, if that indeed ends up being the scanario. They caught us by surprise that day, and in horrendous kicking form (which started in the early stages of the PF). We ain't gunna let that happen again.

Meanwhile, he spent the night at Gibbo's.
Well I tend to agree with Grizzlym. I've tried to be fair in my own mind with Franklin. But its very hard when he's high fiving and hugging Sydney players like he's their long term comrade. He was developed at Hawthorn, his football bloodline is Hawthorn, his heart is now it seems NOT Hawthorn. Staying the night at his friends house that has nothing to do with football.

Loyalty of course is always lost in business when money is involved, the money involved with Franklin was a disgrace, it took hold of loyalty and ripped its throat out.

Take into account two other Hawks at Sydney, Kennedy and McGlyn I love those two and still do , I respect them both, they left to continue their careers
in Footy because they didn't fit at the time, but they were elite footballers , Sydney took them in the correct spirit of the sport, and they have had a huge benefit from them both. Ask any Hawk supporter about those two and their tenacity and the pedigree of one of them. We will love them forever .
Unfortunately I found myself really trying not to , but, ultimately succumbed to getting very very angry and finding a nasty distaste in my mouth watching treachery succeed, with a once hero showing how little he cares for Hawthorn any more ... for money.

What kind of statement to make in our sport where team mates and the ultimate goal usually mean more than massive riches , which Franklin would have had anyway if he had stayed at Hawthorn. I won't keep knocking Sydney , they are a great side , I'm not sure I respect the way they go about poaching but that's business not football. The other more hurtful thing for me is the fact that Franklin probably knew before or just after the 2012 GF where he would be in 2014. Even a little knowledge may have been running around the club with some players , what did they think, I'd say some if they knew would be upset, some would disregard it for maybe not going to happen . Others maybe all never knew at all.

We the members sure didn't know, or could believe it. And another AFL bad move , (EXPANSION ) team GWS would have been pretty shocked too.

I often wonder how much money in other areas of Sydney FC /(SMFC) is floating around and the investment put into that club that has made the AFL allow the piracy we've seen to the detriment of other clubs. To keep Sydney winning,SMFC was a risk, going to Sydney , but it nearly failed, and then the AFL stepped in, They won two flags without millions spent on Tippet and Franklin.

Hawthorn are a very powerful club, we have not suffered by the Franklin treachery , but look at StKilda, Crows without Tippet, remember Barry Hall and Tony Lockett, I think Sydney through John Longmire were actually hunting down Koshitski too a few years back.

All clubs hunt and buy. Only Sydney has done it on a scale that is terrifying. Free agency will kill the lower clubs , and in the long run will leave a decimated AFL and people watching another league , that's where I reckon it could go. A split competition.

You see Hawks and Swans the other night , how in gods name would Footscray or yes, at the moment Collingwood or Melbourne or StKilda... down the track even Fremantle because if they don't pull off the ultrimate prize in the next two years they are gone .

So yes when I see someone who had the world at his feet get over ridden by dollar signs , it makes me wonder about sport.

If Franklin is instumental in a premiership for Sydney at the MCG against his own club , then hatred would actually raise its head , if it hasn't already.

For people who want to still worship Franklin , at Hawthorn, do so for his talent, but remember he's a mercenary of the lowest order , in the history of Aussie football. I suspect led along a path for dollars , which he was guaranteed at Hawthorn anyway, not as much but life long.

Will he fulfil his 9 year commitment, Sydney don't care with all that money and game playing in the off season , they get one flag out of him its still in overall terms unfair for every other club. If he gets injured out of the game its a monumental waste of money which ever way you look at it.

Damian Barrett & Garry Lyon headline the latest round summation on the AFL website by noting that the Swans are better placed than us (No shit sherlocks, maybe check the fixturing differentials hey) & have more upside than us come finals time!!!!....Yeah Right!......I don't know how to cut & paste such things so as to post a copy here, perhaps someone with better I.T skills than me can oblige!

Disagree. Spangher is a lionhearted player who will give his absolute best in every contest, but he tends to over-commit and once you do that against Franklin, you're toast.
Spangher is big and releases other backs to do other jobs , that's the point in my opinion , he can make a blue , but mostly he saves the day. Someone has to go toe to toe with Franklin and just be in front of him or on his toes all the time , and double team him as much as possible. He gets away from his opponents. The key is to make that happen about once a game. He is a human now stand him , I mean stand him like hard footballers do , be his shadow. thats what man on man is , he's just another human. I think Hodgey gave him a karate chop to the bicep the other night , laughable. Yeah Buddy ain't a Buddy anymore.

Well it was the loss they needed, of course.
We've heard it before right?
- loss we had to have
- they learned more from the game than we did
- their sidelined players will mean the next result is different
- straight kicking only thing that stopped them from winning
- umpires screwed them over.

All clubs supporter bases process a loss like this but ultimately we were better on the night and now have a chance to finish above Sydney if we win more or the same number of games than them in the run home.

SWANS BETTER PLACED THAN HAWKS.. Swans have more upside come finals.

Oh really?

I just watched that.
That is purely Garry Lyon's opinion they have headlined there. Purple said it was the other way for him - more upside for the Hawks. Lyon almost implored opposition clubs to go to work defensively on Suckers.
He at times seems to have a problem with us - begrudgingly gives us a rap when he does.

Okay - Petrie and Cloke kick 5 against Lake, and for 70% of games played Shoe has played back and the most he has kicked on has been 2 this year. Yes I agree he will prob be a better fwd than back, but give him some credit in that he hasnt been towelled this year. If you listened to Gibbo after the game, in the first half all the backs were rotating onto different players (Yes I think I saw Shoe on Tippett more so than not in the first half) After half time - Shoe stayed on Tipp and Gibson stayed on Franklin - between them there was 1 second half goal (I am pretty sure of - not 100%)
Shoe provided little or no rebound - but especially after half time Tippett was shut out of the game. I remember a game in 2012 towards the end of the year, Shoe took Cloke to the cleaners (only 1 for the day), Tex Walker scored only 1, Shulz scored 1 this year. In as far as stopping his opponent he has done tremendous work. Offensively rebounding he has turned it over, but he has a heap of mates doing that as well.
I think if you asked the AFL coaches if Shoe can play key back - I think you will found a difference of opinion. I would suspect that the word is he has had a very good year stopping his opponents, but he has had some brain fades when rebounding.
Yes your correct. I am not knocking Shoe as a backman . I believe he was first and foremost in his past a forward, he has been needed in the back line with Gibbo gone , Lake out and Guerra retired. So yes I think he does a great job as a backman , but with a full list of fellows, he would do well up forward , but yes a bit hard judgement on Shoe , he does things people don't see properly and the results aren't credited to him. A lot of backmen go unsung.

Deserves it.

All we hear constantly re Buddy is the following: "footy is a business"; "and we're all still mates".

It's supposed to kind of mitigate his deception.

But last night at the G laid the empty rhetoric bare. The crowd that once loved him, hate him now. And while he might still count Hawthorn players as mates, Buddy has lost something with them no matter what is said - he's ruthlessly sold out Hawthorn, and that's more than a club who employs you. It runs through the fabric of the relationships you have with all the players, the supporters, everyone associated with the club, and, as weird as this sounds, with the institution of the club itself. Just like you can't unboil an egg, you can;t change this.

And, I for one, love it. He sold us out for nothing. Held out. Ensured we got nothing, and collected his big pay day. But what he truly craves, the adulation of the biggest stage, the crowd at the home of footy, is gone. And in the process he's been disowned - to varying degrees - by all those who once loved him at Hawthorn.

He knows it. We all know it.

Last night confirmed it.

Beautifully put. To me it's almost like he never played for us. He is no longer a Hawk in any way shape or form. Even when he returns in years to come, for premiership reunions, he will feel some sense of loss and the previous warmth he received when among the Hawks faithful will have long cooled.

Barrett said more upside for Hawks

Oh really?

According to Garry Lyon.
And according to Terry Wallace, the Hawks are better placed and have more upside than the Swans.

Opinion pieces, that's all..
IMO, I THINK WE ARE BETTER PLACED..:p

There are many "experts " these days with wounds and bad memories of the Mighty Hawks when they played them. Lyon would still hurt from 1988, I'm sure Brad Hardie has a little niggle at Hawthorn on occasion, where as Longdon seems to like them , maybe they showed the Eags what it takes to be premiers.

Richo has me baffled I always get the feeling he knocks the Hawks , but maybe he just is pessimistic , Dunstall is totally a perfectionist, he knocks the Hawks when they are ten goals up, but for different reasons, a bit like Clarko!
