Last year the media talked up Freo during Grand Final week.
Last week they talked up Port Adelaide.
This week it's Sydney.
I shake my head.

Yep, when we are the favourite they champion the underdog, when we are the underdog they are all on the favourite's bandwagon - go figure!

It's because the guys that are all commentators and experts these days are all traumatised by Hawthorn. Things will change in 10 years or so.

I hope not....Let the trauma multiply & Long may it continue!;)

Hi All,

Apologies for the intrusion, but I just wanted to stop by and wish you all the very best for tomorrow.

I made a couple of posts last year on here, in the lead up to the PF & GF. Needless to say, I thoroughly enjoyed both of those matches :) I tomorrow hope to see another Brown and Gold Premiership!

The last 12 months has been a walk in the park I imagine... Oh wait, sorry, that must be another club I am thinking about! Lets see, your best player ups and leaves within a week of the premiership (going to a rival premiership contender), your club is given the standard "draw" from the AFL, Injury after Injury hits when the season starts and mostly to your key players, and also, your coach contracts a serious illness that had the potential to end his season and indeed his coaching career no less!

And yet, here your club is, ready for another Grand Final and maybe another premiership. Remarkable. Resilient. Tough. Hawthorn!

I sincerely wish you all the best, I hope you know that this neutral supporter will be cheering the Hawks on. I know what it feels like to beat *that* team in a Grand Final after losing one to them and I wish the same experience will be felt by you all tomorrow! Go Hawks! :)

The odds opened 1.80 $2 right after our Prelim win. We have got out to crazy odds it's a 50/50 game. Talk about reading too much into Sydney making a mess of a team who was spent before they walked out last Friday night.

Taken the $2.45 for the win $2.85 for the under 40 , going to put something over 15.5 @ $4.
Another really good bet is the Hale 2+ goals and Hawthorn win @ $9. I see him spending the vast majority of the game in the forward line, they really don't have a great match up for him

The game that gives me confidence is Round 8 and not just rd18!! Why? With a Midfield of Langford, Hallahan, And at times Hartung and Hill, plus Swans home match plus Buddy's first game against the Hawks plus they were flying at the time plus no Mitcell, no Hodge plus Cyril and Gibbo getting injured in the third and yet we were in FRONT in the last qtr!!!!!!!!!! Did I mention Lake hasn't played against them all year?? Gunston didn't even score that night and we still nearly pinched it from them!! Hawks by 8 points with Luke Hodge for the NSM.

Me too. I was pretty happy with that game.

The problem with this ultimate 'good vs evil' scenario is that I'm used to seeing it in movies where you sorta know good will prevail. In real life, it's all just so uncertain. We can't let evil prevail. Carn Hawks! Time to rise above and destroy!

I love this club.

But But But David King said we'll get rolled by 11 goals...

On paper our TEAM is better than there's ....but it's not just about the players.

Tomorrow we find out who is the better coach ....one coach follows the trends, the other creates them ;)

Clarko pushes the coaching envelope...and tomorrow will be his masterpiece :)

ANDREW WU

If Tippett don't get ya, Buddy must. Sydney by 26. Norm Smith: Dan Hannebery (Sydney).

Andrew Wu is something of a shit truck. Not a bad cliche for a copy boy on a 45k starting salary (gotta love SMH mates and their disclosure of salaries)

Imagine if they lost :)

Classic Goebs.

A fantastic article is in the Age written by Emma Quayle. Make an effort to read it. A country boy. "It's Luke Hodge: thank God he is a country boy"
The title of the article. what a great read for a change...:)

Emma is the best football writer in the country second to none

"Could've stooped to their level and named them Whorethorn or Poo & Piss in the title, but we're a classier bunch."
The wise words of a Sydney supporter. Pretty much sums up the arrogance and sense of entitlement that the club and its supporters have.

For those a little towy about the betting odds:

The last 5 GF's

http://www.oddsportal.com/aussie-rules/australia/afl-2014/results/

2013 - Hawks 1.61 v Freo 2.33 (Hawks by 15)
2012 - Hawks 1.55 v Swans 2.55 (Swans by 10)
2011 - Coll 1.98 v Geel 1.78 (Geel by 39 points)
2010 R - StK 2.36 v Coll 1.57 (Coll by 56 points)
2010 - StK 2.95 v Coll 1.39 (DRAW)
2009 - StK 2.31 v Geel 1.58 (Geel by 12 points)

I can also add proudly (cause I made something on it)

2008 - Geel 1.42 v Haw 2.80 (Haw by 26 points)

In 5 of the 7 GF's (and one of the ones that didn't was GF replay) the underdog has beaten the line

There is massive symmetry between 2012 and 2014. Its almost uncomfortably close
