he is bad now, wait until he is officially off the board, he can really let rip.

this all started years ago when jeff demanded undying support from all board members, something like, if Jeff wanted them to resign then they had to. Someone more into the board machinations can get the details correct, then thanks. Why someone didn’t say no to this amazes me, but that’s us members fault as well.
I definitely think he is going to go off. Especially if Gowers gets up.

The big thing for me is it looks like he’s starting to believe the lies he’s been telling. Rather than just spewing them to get what he wants.

Tyler I don’t know why you mentioned just 1 player ?
Is that due to that players perceived relationship with the club ?

Peter Hudson, Peter Knights, Jarryd Roughead, Jordan Lewis, Nathan Thompson, Joel Smith and Campbell Brown are all backing Nank.

Seriously staggered to read this, these guys are so uneducated. They are willing to back an administration that barely has a women in an executive position, floundered through the racism issues and a board that has a history of intimidating people into not standing. How disappointing.
Linda are you saying you are more educated (on the clubs board) than the past players that I’ve mentioned in the post above ?

There are many, many past players supporting Andy Gowers.

Weird timing. They’ve left their support a little late it seems.

Jeff’s commentary and Nank’s refusal to distance himself made the choice pretty easy for a lot of members who have already voted.

From memory, Jordan and Jarryd had quite good relationships with Jeff. Could just be a late Hail Mary.

Yeah. The entire thing has become a bit sad to be honest.

This is not how I want HFC to operate.

Let’s hope we have a fully united club after the election.

Again this is not how HFC should be.
It really doesn’t matter how many past players are backing either candidate

It doesn’t need to be played out like that in here either

We could go on for pages about which past player is backing which candidate. It won’t change a thing, as many have already voted.

Genuinely astounding that people can still be apparatchiks for someone who openly admitted to costing the club $15M in funding. As someone who was pro the Kennett comeback to the club after the Gaudry debacle, he’s more than overstayed the welcome and the past 2 years he’s become a constant embarrassment to the club. If driving Cyril away wasn’t enough to have you question the bloke I’m genuinely shocked admitting that he cost our club $15M doesn’t tip you over the edge.

His handpicked successor not having the stones to challenge him these past two years speaks volumes.

Then where are they??? Get out like Bruce S and make a statement or band together and make a statement.
interesting to read that the past players statement was put together by an ad agency or something similar. did HFC pay for this?
Very good point - are our membership fees paying for a PR firm to promote the board ticket? The database and email spam is one thing but that would be next level.

I come here with genuine intent and no malice. Aware my Club is not exactly flying… However I’ve been amazed at what’s transpiring at the Hawks. It’s so un Hawthorn.

The Clarkson dismissal, Kennett compromising the Clubs welfare (financially) whilst trying to wage war on his political opponents (and I’m conservative) and the way these elections are playing out is extraordinary.

On the elections, the sad thing to me looking at this at arms length is twofold. Firstly, unfortunately this election seems to have party politics at its core. The incumbents, Conservatives up against the agents for change, the the left wing leaning group. Then today the HS takes a current directors intent on driving the culture wars in an ugly climax in this apparent public party political and cultural war by pointing out Club greats and Premiership players are middle aged white me! Secondly, we’ve seen many club greats come out publicly endorsing candidates in a way that doesn’t support the clubs old saying, ‘one for all and all for one’. It’s unfortunate to see club greats being targeted in this way.

Only good thing is this will end shortly. Kennett gone which I think is the right thing for your club. I’m sceptical ‘Nank’ is the right choice only because he doesn’t appear dynamic and committed long term. Essendon can lament these types of leaders the last decade too. And I’m also not convinced Gowers is ideal either, does he possess necessary skills and can he unite the Club.

Good luck and let’s hope this ends quickly and the entire Club can heal and recommit to pushing together in one direction.

Thanks mate. I'm sure you know the drill.

We're through the worst of it to be honest. Kennett gone, and the successful vote will be known in a fortnight. Then we can move on either way.

Regardless of what we think of Merlino yay or nay he is a passionate supporter who wants to help the club. Unfortunately you have an old dinosaur (Kennett) trying to white ant him from the cheap seats because he's a lefty instead of trying to reach a common ground for the greater good of the club. It's actually pathetic commentary. Calling Merlino "Unemployed" in a mocking condescending way. What does this actually achieve?. It's the opposite of what Jeff thinks that's the facts. I can see this ending messy for Kennett's group and they only themselves to blame.
