Thinking back to the first final in 1997 we really set ourself up with an 11 goal first term, played smith at FF and just put so much into that First Quarter, and on friday night we need another good start, atleast breaking even would be a win for us.

if they get a 3-4 goal break early on it could very well be game over.

here is something that could IMO work and work well, something that St Kilda wont plan for and could give us a mini break that would need every one playing at their best.

Pre Game i would bring in Williams for Callan for this plan to work.

Setting up and Match ups this is all about using our run and carry to hit them hard with quick movement and catching them of guard.

Our Forward line, Open it up give us some room i would set up a 4 man forward line Lake and Aker deep thats right Lake, make their back man up, agin don't forget this is about getting a fast break early catching them off guard lets just roll the dice on this on.

i would have Higgins and Hahn up around the 50 mark and thats it in our forward line everyone else push back, get the ball in fast and Quick to Lake and keeping it in there.

the Rucks and Wings i would have Huddo Cooney Picken and Boyd starting on the ball with Cross Eagleton and Johno on the Wings and would be looking at getting the ball into Cooneys hand as much as possible.

Picken and Cross to get the Tagging jobs on Del Santo and Montagna, Johno Eagleton and Gia (coming of the bench) to hang a kick out of the forward 50 playing that last Long kick into Lake

As for the backLine i would have Murphy and Welsh as the loose man in defence, they are good at reading the play and use the ball well, with Griffen and Gilbee running in waves of half back and pumping the ball long.

As well as having Huddo drop into and even double tag Riewoldt where i would play Morris on him just pushing pushing keep pushing him up to the wing.

Williams gets Kossie and for this to work just needs to break even and Shaggy and Harbrow plaing on Milne and Schneider

With Ward Gia Minno and Welsh on the bench

So setting up as such

Backs
Harbrow Williams Hargrave
Gilbee Morris Murphy Griffen

Centres Johnson Cross Boyd Eagleton
Hudson Cooney Picken

Forwards

Higgins Hahn

Aker Lake

Bench Ward Gia Minson Welsh

As i said before this needs everyone playing at 100% this plan is about hitting them hard early and getting that break, it works and paydirt we get a 7+ goal quarter and are on our way to playing off in the grand final on the other hand it dosen't work and thats it good luck St Kilda for next week.

what i think we really need to do, and i say it every week, is show our physical presence. we're never the one who starts off giving the other team hard knocks and stuff like that. for once WE have to be intimidating, starting from the 1st minute of the 1st quarter.
i'm not saying come out and pull a campbell brown, but show em we're not afraid and we're tougher than everyone thinks.
come on dogs, we can ****ing do it tomorrow!

We need to be within a goal at qtr time. If we do that, we've weathered the storm and we'll win.

It's now about 9.35pm Thursday evening here and I'm ready to go to sleep. In about five hours I'll be getting up to do my radio slot and then staying up all night for THE match which begins at 4.45am.

I almost feel like a five year old kid on Christmas Eve. :D

Oh come on, bitch slapping someone's arm is as much as Browndog can do without being suspended these days :)

But fwiw, I agree, come out and be physical, get their minds off the football as much as possible. Work Riewoldt and their HB line over. They gain a lot of drive from the back half, so make them sore and sorry. MUST run hard into space and move the ball quickly but accurately. Aker is a BIG weapon in this game, need him around that 30-60 metres from Goal and looking dangerous, force his man to be accountable.

Good Luck!

Geez you scared the bejeebus out of me. I had to take a quick look behind me to check that my little woofa was still there. I though for a second you had stolen her to put a Santa outfit on her and substituted a recording of her snoring.
