and its 14!

14 day ave down to 0.0

active cases still at 3

hospitalized remains at 2

and the number of tests fell to 12,000 - assume this means the Hume and Brimbank target testing is done

also one thing that is being misreported, the original roadmap didnt have "covid normal" at 14 days of zero, it was 28 days of zero. 14 days of zero was originally targeted for the 23rd, and was for essentially the same steps as we are looking to be announced on the 22nd.

i suppose the only question is do they bring the 22nd forward to this sunday. the only thing i would hold off on this is the SA case. again, to clarify some misinformation, the SA case was a SA resident who tested positive in SA back in august. They tested negative, came to Vic, and upon return tested positive again. Out of caution they issued the alerts on Melbourne Central, Tullamarine, and the Craigieburn line. SA authorities have DHHS helping with this side of the contact tracing just in case, but they are currently trying to determine if the case is just a shedding of dead virus one (tests confirming this will hopefully be out today).

If this is a new case, we will need to treat it like another potential outbreak, so I'd wait till the 22nd. If its all clear, i have no issue bringing forward, and i'd have outdoor masks on the agenda for discussion

We are at the point where one case needs to be treated as such, investigated & as long we are on top of it, its no reason to stop the transition back to living with covid.

yep, and been confirmed no changes till the 23rd

definitely a belt and suspenders approach to easing

Wouldn't surprise me if Daniel Andrews was asked by several senior federal Labor people to run for a safe Victorian federal Labor seat in the House of Reps in the leadup to the next federal election. If you speak to senior people within the Federal Labor team, they reckon Andrews would stand a much better chance of defeating Scott Morrison than current Opposition Leader Anthony Albanese.

I've heard this being floated, but disregarding COVID for a moment, I'm sceptical that a personality like Andrews would play all that well in QLD.

I think that Andrews is a pretty canny politician, and judging by opinion polls and the pathetic opposition he could probably remain VIC Premier for as long as he wants, but that doesn't mean he should replace Albo.

More importantly, who in the fed parliament today will give up a safe seat for him?

Also why would the left factions support destabilizing Albo who they got in?

There is no clear path for him to enter federal parliament and there is no appetite from his faction to support a coup.

Then there is the politics of covid, which will be a massive millstone around his neck

No chance this happens

Congrats Ned on taking the motley lot of Danbusters to the cleaners so regularly and doing so with precision and without acrimony. Top job.:thumbsu:

Pre COVID, he might have (Albo certainly wont win) as he had a good record of achievement but with more corruption scandals, 800+ deaths, and his loyalty to Xi no matter how badly he acts, Dan wouldn't have a chance now.

From my discussions outside Vic, he is the bloke that cocked it.
Dont blame someone inside the Melbourne bubble not knowing what the rest of Aus thinks of him.

People forget things pretty quickly. I think he's a fairly talented politician so there would certainly be many other things that would surprise me more, like Albo managing to win the election. I think 'the vibe' is really much more important electorally than policies or track record

If it were to happen he would be hammered on China which would be his biggest issue to overcome

Morgan poll yesterday- Andrew’s approval rating up to 71%.
How embarrassing for the campaigner and his little Danbusting groupies.

& Melbourne is not Australia.

my discussions with people outside of vic have been “there was a stuff up, but he also fixed it.”
they also mentioned would like to see him at a federal level.

I cant imagine why non-Victorians would want Andrews as PM. He's the face of failure in this pandemic in the eyes of interstate voters who've enjoyed relative freedom at the same time we've had months of lockdown.

Like it or not, ScoMo comes out squeaky clean on the international stage for his covid response while Andrews is the outlier as heading the only state government to have ****ed up covid with any great detriment to the public.

Winning a popularity contest against O`Brien is the equivalent of beating Essendon. Dont get ahead of yourselves, fanbois.

im not sure if that sentiment is shared across the board. there are some danboi's like AM that awe at the marketing and spin surrounding the self centered andrews, but some do see through the shiny facade. it would of been better if dan come clean at the start of this hotel quarantine debacle instead of shifting the blame and blatantly lying his ass off in the coate enquiry, the whole CCP shady BRI deal, the massive over runs and incompetent handling of the major infrastructure projects (all going into the pockets of the CCP), the red shirt scandal, the CFA debacle, deciding to award themselves a massive pay increase while forcing many on jobkeeper......all this will come back to haunt him before the next election. The libs just need to get their act together and destabilising this CCP lacky will be a walk in the park. i cant wait for the day the federal gov tears up the shady BRI deal andrews has going....imagine trying to justify borrowing $3 trillion dollars from the CCP and then giving it straight back to them for dans big build un-tendered!

oh how things change

I'm more wary of morons who are good at spin than those who aren't. Dan Andrews reminds me a lot of Eddie McGuire.
