There was a time when Rucci was a serious football journalist, who could have a measured and often interesting crack at the Crows. This was needed as there was a time when Crows media coverage was sickly sweet

Over the last 2 years Michelangelo has slipped into either

1. A personal vendetta towards the Crows and Neil Craig

or

2. Inability to stand up to Advertisers editors telling him to continually have a crack at the Crows. Today roast was again ridiculous. A barb at Scott Thompson over a failure to wear a dress.. the real key issues there. Yet another cheap shot at Simon Goodwin. Last weeks attack on Neil Craig was truly dreadful

Thus I feel sorry from Rucci. He has slipped from serious journalist into a puppet or clown. No need to read his columns regularly, you can predict their content before opening the paper.

Other proper football journalists such as Caroline Wilson/Mark Stevens/Jake Niall/Mike Sheahan/Patrick Smith/Martin Flanagan and most recently even Grant Thomas in the Sunday Age produce a far higher quality of journalism and more thought provoking articles regularly

Therefore, the demise of a serious football journalist is sad, as is Rucci. I doubt his credibility can be regained

I dont have an issue with Rucci the columnist. As that he can write and say what he wants. Where I have concerns is when he allows his open bias to infect his articles and questions

I dont think he should go to NCs press conferences because of his bias. People may say he is a professional...but his recent articles and questions at press conferences suggest he cant keep a professional approach.

You're probably right. He now has an 'identity' as the anti-Crow reporter so he may feel the he has to live up to it. He either sits back and laughs at everyone bagging him, or he genuinely thinks he is right and fair. Either way, it's sad.

The problem with Rucci is that he is becoming obsessed with his own self importance. He now seeks to out do himself each week with stupidity.

He reports myths, and continues to mention them until everyone assumes they are fact. A recent example is this lack of an alternate gameplan rubbish. The reality is the crows have the most flexible gameplan in the AFL which can cater for all styles of football...see games against the bulldogs then against the swans. He also likes to develop little catch phrases, seemingly for his own entertainment e.g. "St. Neil"

I've noticed also his articles frequently have errors in fact, often these are statistical errors which are easy to check.

There is no use complaining because this only fuels his own arrogance. The best thing for crows and supporters to do is to try and ignore him...but damn this is hard!

We get short-changed big time in this state. In other states you have coaches who give interviews and write columns about interesting, topical issues that are facing AFL football at the present time. You also have articles from highly credentialled, knowledgeable, ex-players and ex-coaches that are not there for a bit of light-hearted comic relief like Dale Lewis is. I like reading Dwayne Russell's column in the Sunday Mail. There should be more like this.

Basically we get the same Advertiser journalists giving us reviews/updates/previews on the Crows and Power. That's it. It must be boring to be a journalist in Adelaide. You end up re-hashing the same articles over and over again, just changing the name of this week's opposition. In Melbourne a journalist has 10 clubs to choose from to find something interesting and they also have the scope to cover what is happening in the other states ie WCE troubles or Farmer arrest.

The Advertiser might argue that this is what the Adelaide public wants which might be true but doesn't give us much credit. I usually scan the Age, Australian and Herald Sun websites to fill the gaping void left by the Advertiser.

the majority of this state dont respect the weird little mans opinion as everyone knows its so obviously bias against the crows.. jealousy is obviously a motive and everyone with half a brain can see right through him, just laugh his reports off

His efforts this week have been an absolute joke.

In the press conference after the game he attacks Craig's gameplan again, stating that it has been worked out and no longer works. Yet, he ignored the fact we missed Radar and Burton got hurt. Said our forward line structure had been worked out - yet we are missing basically every forward who performed for us last year, and we went down by one point.

Then Craig responds by saying obviously we're hurt by injuries, and Rucci goes after him saying that he's refused to use the injuries excuse before, now he's having a bet each way. Baits him into using injuries as an excuse (which we all know is a valid excuse, Craig is just too good to give an excuse for poor performances which we aren't responsible for) and then has a crack at him about it.

And the Scott T thing today was just laughable - why the hell would you bring it up six months after the fact?

He has no credibility, and it's getting worse. Surely he can endeavor to write some decent articles without attacking people.

I could'nt give a stuff about him really. I still read his articles, but now just for fun.

Dont think many take it seriously (either side of the fence) as he is not a serious journalist.

Its a port thing.

they WERE the biggest thing around.
not handling it that there not anymore.

When you read the Herald Sun or the Age football sections and then you read what Rucci writes it puts into context what a pathetic rag the Advertiser actually is. The fact that he is able to use the sport section to promote his own childish adgenda is part of the reason why IMO the Advertiser just has no credibility what-so-ever.

Rucci is looked upon as a no credibility clown in the victoria media and I have heard that first hand from people. The people that have come over here from victoria and been subjected to his garbage like Carey etc all have given him glowing reports hahahahaha :D

The problem with Rucci is that he is too much of a Port supporter therefore he believes his own bullsh!t and is so jealous of Adelaide that he will even make himself look like a massive hypocrite just to have a dig at Adelaide. The fact that he attempts to flat out lie about his motives either means he is intellectually handicapped or that he actually believes the readership of the Advertiser is extremely dumb.

I think initially he tried to aim higher as his articles used to be far higher in quality, but he now seems to have now come to terms with his position at the bottom rung of the ladder as far as footy jurnos go in Australia and now has no interest and would rather be a Port supporting columnist than a journo.

Just don't read his articles. It's not like he reports news you can't easily find out on here anyway. He is merely an opinion writer these days and a very poor one at that.

A week in the life of a newspaper ...

Monday: Arrived at work early because I knew the editor was pleased with me. May be I will get another pair of boots. Love it when those bloody Crows lose, even when it's just by a point way over in Perth. Pulled out my tape recorder and had another listen to my post-match press conference. Have to say I was very good last night - I had St Neil right under the pump about his lack of a game plan and lack of scoring potential. And how about the way he mentioned injuries. Got him with that one. I am clever. Can't wait for the rest of the week because three wins in a row were a bit had to take.
Tuesday: Went back through some old stories from last year looking for ideas but unfortunately my stories about Port when they were losing every week were not nasty enough. Too much talk about promising young players and building for a wonderful future. Can't wait until I can run that "Who is your daddy line?' again but that might have to wait for a few weeks. Almost forgot ... had to put together the Roast. Another chance to have a crack at St Neil, Triggy, Bill Sanders, Comrade Hurley and Crows supporters. Better have a little dip at Port as well just to show I'm credible.
Wednesday: Up early to read the Roast. Had a chuckle to myself - it;s even funnier this morning than I remembered. Triggy has probably already called a meeting to discuss his next plan of attack. Waited for email from the editor, who loves the Roast. He doesn't let me down ... brilliant, that will teach the Crows he says. To think the Crows think I'm biased! Had dinner with Choco and discussed game plans.

Brilliant!! :p

The only problem is that your story of a "week in the life of "would be pretty factual - a thing that we know Rucci has no interest in at all. :D

Rucci has really lost the plot lately.

He can no longer be regarded as a sports writer - just some buffoon that writes jaundiced articles, unjustly attacking innocent people just trying to do their job.

Give it a rest Rooch. You've reached the stage of being nothing more than a big yawn.

I wonder if he is actually trying to get himself fired ???

Very very good.

However, there is one important part of his life you must mention. For each day you need to add "logged onto bigfooty.com to see what those Adelaide posters have written about me" ;)
