The worst part about his his transformation from a journalist to 'the port pamphleteer' is the way he has stuffed up 5AA's Saturday morning talk-back show.

He tries to provoke Crows supporters to make the show about HIM. It's now painful, boring listening - I used to listen religiously but now I just turn it off.

I think KG is peed off with the direction the PP has taken the show too, but can't do much about it. Stop listening and let the ratings slide - stop buying the Sadvertiser and let the circulation fall. They're the only way we will get rid of him (and he can then go to Port and do their PR on their payroll.)

The sad part about Rooch is that everything he writes now is seen as bias. The article today did contain some thoughts that would have been given credit if they were written by any other journo...(well perhaps not Patrick Smith or Rebecca Wilson)... but because they were written by Rooch they are immediately dismissed as rubbish!!

My wife is not a red rag supporter but she has turned off Rooch completely. Unfortunately the damage has been done. Supporters from all clubs have commented to me about his lack of professionalism. I cannot understand why he has it in for Neil Craig....a breath of fresh air among coaches. What has Craigy done...apart from being successful in many spheres of life?

Been a complete professional...how many of us here want NC to ask Rucci ''whose your daddy now bitch'' ..yet Neil takes as much time..a little or a lot.. to answer Ruccis questions

I think its become a game now with Rucci to make NC crack...like the school bully who flicks paper bombs at you all day until you snap

it does not matter dear friends
the end is nigh for him
and this time billy and steven do not have to endure another visit to the advertiser
this time the law is going to take care of him for covering up the port drug leak. he is in big dooodaaaa

I cant see how

RADIO FIVEaa and The Advertiser have been told to release details of ``Mr X'' - the man who last month leaked information of drug testing at Port Adelaide - or face prosecution under federal law.
Australian Sports Anti-Doping Authority investigator Tom McQuillan on Wednesday made this demand while meeting with FIVEaa general manager Paul Bartlett in Adelaide. McQuillan yesterday sought the name and telephone number of ``Mr X'' from Advertiser chief football writer Michelangelo Rucci.
Neither FIVEaa nor The Advertiser would breach their ethical duty to protect their source. ``Mr X'' tipped off Power employee Russell Ebert in an off-air call at FIVEaa on Saturday, April 21 - 52 hours before drug-testers arrived at Alberton to take urine samples from five Port players.

Just on this, this makes Ruccis '' anonymous internet geeks'' statement a joke.

He is in possession of illegally obtained information from a government authority.

No he isnt

Neither Rucci nor anyone from 5aa has. The person who made the phone call may do...but I fail to see how accountability can be placed on Rucci or 5aa... they didnt disclose it on their radio show

Continued ...

Thursday: Bit disappointed people have not talked more about more about my tough questioning at Sunday's press conference so I have another great idea. Let's pull out a few of Craigy's quotes, have a crack at smarty-pants St Neil, and see if I can get him to fire up at tomorrow's press conference. He hates it when I rave on about training so even though I spent the summer in Italy and didn't see a pre-season session I'll just make it up anyway. Neil has told me several times that Biglands, Hentschel, Meesen, Johncock, Reilly, Porplyzia, Massie etc have been impact injuries and that their soft tissue injuries are actually down on previous years but no, I'm going to confuse him by basing my story on some really strong data - my own opinion.
Friday: Couldn't sleep with excitement. Got to the press conference early and you could sense that Neil was ready to acknowledge my superior knowledge of training elite sportsmen. But instead he played safe, admitting his team trained hard and they took some risks through this policy. How dare he refuse to buckle! Can't wait until tomorrow night when they lose to Collingwood and I can hog the microphone at another media conference.

We get short-changed big time in this state.

This is the thing that makes laugh. Listen to KG, Cornesy and Co. bleeting on any Sat Morning and you will hear them talk about how we don't get enough respect from interstate, especially Victoria.

WTF should they respect us when we allow such an amateurish, biased, spiteful hack to be our Chief Sports Writer. No wonder we get laughed at and rarely taken seriously. We keep buying The Advertiser, we deserve what we get.

I think Ruccis lack of journalistic integrity is actually to starting to reflect badly on other other SA journalists. I can't even read Geoff Roach or Capel anymore.

Re: I feel sorry for the Advertiseri

I feel so Angry toward the Advertiser for facilitating the unbalanced reporting.    In response to Douchi's "Craig rides injury cycle" article, I posted to the following feedback to their website... tell them it's getting the funding (advertisers) in the pocket by the feeling they create in people reading the adverts and maybe they'll see some sense.

Mr Jackson of Adelaide (below) is spot on. Mr Rucci cannot be taken seriously - he is indeed becoming more outspoken with less and less veiled vitriol for Mr Craig and co. Personally, it puts me off this paper and makes me feel angry toward it and the things it advertises... Advertiser, take note - I'm not the only one that's being left by Mr Rucci to feel angry and put off toward the publication and the advertisements it contains... look after your clients (and yourself, in the end) and assign a more balanced (as opposed to unbalanced) Chief Football Writer.

Bet it doesn't get published.

Needed a laugh, thought I'd read the latest Rucci rant on this Adelaide board.

Thanks for the pick-me-up...

My thoughts (if they mean anything, you'd all probably dismiss them as biased and worthless because I am a Port Adelaide supporter)

1) Neil Craig is boring, uninformative, bland at press conferences and interviews. He conveys no information of interest, no overt displays of happiness or criticism, and as such he is an easy target. Wasn't it Reid and Trigg that conveyed the message about openness and honesty to the supporters and the media? I personally don't care, coaches are supposed to be coaches and not media people. Wouldn't hurt to smile occasionally. Mark Williams was as bad in his first couple of years, but I think he has gotten better and interesting as the years pass. Hopefully Craigy can develop in the same way.

2) Rucci is a Port supporter. He is the Chief sports editor at the Tiser. He does not support your team, but to quote "Build a bridge, and get over it". Just like us Port Adelaide supporters need to get over KG and Cornsey and Stephen Rowe and Geoff Roach and Kevin Naughton and all those others that hate us. PS Don't for one minute think that we like having Rucci saying some of the inflamatory things that he does. We like your response, but we don't neccesarily like what he says. Don't mix his thoughts with ours.

3) Don't know why you guys get so defensive about your injury list and the intimation that the Craig training regimes are significantly to blame. Put all the spin on it that you want, but it is clear that there is something going wrong at West Lakes at the moment, and to come to the conclusion after much serious analysis, that there is more bad luck than anything else is naive at best.

Keep the chin up guys, before the season I've got you down as a top 4 and I still think you'll sneak in there, just ease off on the scientific training methods a bit!!

I wont bother with points 1 & 3, but the one that irks me is Port supporters trying to compare 5AA with Rucci. Besides the odd jibe about ferals and the odd non broadcasting of a game, 5AA do not on a daily basis have a go at the Power. The only time they openly support the Crows over Port is Showdown time and even then they give ample coverage to Port. They are not negative against Port, they do not have goes at Mark Williams, they did not blame Williams last year for their injuries and they do not devote a segment a week to hanging shit on the Power. There is no comparison.

And finally could it be a sign of things to come with Rucci writing in the travel section of Saturdays paper. Lets hope it was a success and it takes him as far away from Adelaide as possible.

Sweet, so if anyone has a poor holiday now, we can blame Rucci for that as well :)

:) Don't think the tiser's twigged yet ... could be slow learning managers... ;) would any self-respecting Adelaide Crows fan now believe anything the alleged journalist wrote ? It'd be more likely to encourage people to put distance between them and the things the journalist endorses, wouldn't it ?

I think your comments about Neil Craig at press conferences are miles off the mark. Yes there is no humour, but he is always dignified, answers questions and is respectful (unlike Malthouse who treats journalists as if he is god and they are peasants, despite his 13 years between flags)

Your own coach (who I might add sadly is an excellent coach) regularly comes across as a bad loser and a bad winner ("Alan Scott you were wrong" why he would need to sully his greatest ever moment with a crack at someone is entirely beyond me)

Apparently Craigy's a good all-rounder of a person, so I wonder if more than minimal passing humour at the interviews is not a good thing in his role ? I could also imagine some unscrupulous journalist trying to take him apart later...

I seem to recall something said about not wanting to give more than is needful away to other clubs re game plan and tactics (they all need to play that balancing game, making the supporters feel "included" by disclosure vs losing by giving away hitherto effective secrets). :D

PS I feel for Mark Williams, big pressure like we can't imagine from a hugely powerful personage at his club... nah, he's perfectly entitled even if the look wasn't top notch. It fed the chooks as Joh used to say in Qld.

I have heard Niel Craig speak at Crows function I attended 2 years ago in his first season as coach and honestly his passion had me gob smacked. His speach honestly nearly had me in tears it was so emmotional, talking about the quality of the club, the supporters, the players and that with "good footy people," around the club success wouldn't be far away. I know we haven't won flags but we were tipped as spooners and have managed to make two Perliminary Finals this is a measure of great success. If anyone can remember the start to our 1997 season we were rocked with injuries then in Rnd. 6-7 (had Tom Gilligan in ruck for the 1st Showdown) and came back to win the flag ... you never know what can happen ... it's a marathon not a sprint. GO YOU ****IN CROWS!!!
