Its time to go........PAGAN

Lets get rid of Pagan and keep Barry Mitchell. Pagan has had years to get this team right. Numorous high first round picks and almost 4 years at the helm, has he run out of time at the end of this year?

If Barry Mitchell is ever appointed senior coach at Carlton I will personally start a petition to has his appointment annulled. If Pagan is to be replaced there are far more qualified coaches-in-waiting in the marketplace than what Mitchell will ever be. Whether it be our own Brett Ratten, Chris Bond or Michael Voss, I have no doubt that anyone of them would do a better job than what Mitchell would. It should not be forgotten that the Bullants have struggled this year without the presence of mature players like Prendergast, Sporn, Bryan, De Luca. Instead Mitchell has had to rely more on Carlton's first & second year players & has not achieved the same results. Players make coaches, not the other way around.

And I will be first in line to sign.

Barry Mitchell - for God's sake people wake up, he is NOT want Carlton need or want as a coach now or into the future

ROTFLMAO and sprayed shnot all over my monitor!!

What drugs are you on?? Actually you are right in a anti-logical way. He DID 'retire' at the ripe old age of 23 or something...BWaahahahahahahahahah!

He is far more mature than the 18 year old Austin & Benjamin & the 19 year old Bower, Edwards, Flint, Grigg, Hampson, Kennedy, Jacobs & 20 year old Raso. Do you really think it is only coincidence that the Bullants have struggled this season in the absence of the more mature players I nominated in my previous post? Some posters are so eager to champion the cause of Barry Mitchell, yet faced with the challenge of having more than half his run on side being kids, rather than having Carlton players who have been in & out of the senior side for 3+ years, the results are not looking so good.

You are obviously a Mitchell sympathiser, but I am afraid you are going to have to get used to the idea that he will not be part of the Carlton Football Club after this season, given the likelihood that we will be going it alone with our own reserves team. You will probably still be able to support him for as long as the Bullants are prepared to have him after this season, so all is not lost for you.

BTW, De Luca turned 24 in March last year. If you are going to be a prat, make sure you get your facts right.

B Mitchell is doing a great job in 2007.

i see another loss on the weekend. 60 point loss. team only managed to kick 5.6.36
let's look back at mitchells record in VFL finals over the last 2 years- not so good.

lets not forget mitchell was an assistant to pagan
people are quick to get stuck into some assistants and praise other assistants.

-mitchell had a great list at VFL level
-pagan has had a poor list at AFL level

-mitchell has lost a large number of his experienced players and performances have dropped off
-pagan perfomances have improved (overall) most likely to do with the fact the AFL list is getting experience.

The only thing that pissed me off with Pagan's coaching on Friday night was he reverted Walker back to being the chaser(Crawford) instead of chased.

After his 2 best games for the club in recent years, why would you not continue with this.

How about we keep Pagan and sack Mitchell. To my knowledge i think there has been a new "sack Pagan" thread after every loss so far this season.

They can kiss my membership goodbye if they ever appointed Mitchell as coach.
Why do people think this bloke is such a genius?

Players make coaches, have you got any idea?!!! No way a side full of champions will ever win a flag with a crap coach. Admittedly no way a sh1te side will ever win a flag even with the best of coaches but they will play to their potential and produce surprising results. Do you know anything at all about the role of a coach. I'd take Mitchell way before Pagan. No-one can deny he hasn't done a good job here in his role....unlike Pagan. Having said that Mitchell isn't my necessarily my first choice but be will be around the club longer than Pagan as he is very good at what he does. Explains why Carlton didn't sack despite his dispute with Pagan. They know Mitchell's long-term, Pagan's short-term. Mitchells's having a tough time this year but Pagan's been pathetic every year. If you think mitchell's performance is poor, what must you think of Pagan then. I've worked out by now that if you think Mitchell can't coach then he must be a gun coach!!!!!!!!!!!!

this is seriously gettin ridiculous

we win theres 10 threads "hey, pagan's doin alright"

we lose theres 20 threads "kill him, someone call Michael Voss"

please, make up your minds. Till then, shut up

When Denis was appointed as our senior coach at the end of 2002, I said that it would take at least 4-5 years for us to be a power club on-field again. Denis is now in his 5th year and our side is finally looking like it can win a decent amount of games. Just remember, Denis has worked and worked to get the best out of our list, year after year - with little success I know. I am backing Denis for '08 and beyond. I say that we review Denis' position at the end of the year and assess it from there. It would also make sense for the club to see out his contract, instead of sacking him and having to pay him out as well as paying the new coach on his contract.

'When Denis came to the club nothing went to plan, everything turned into a real nightmare'. Everything from the Salary Cap breaches to last year's board room troubles. Denis just needs support in his coaching staff and fresh insight into the coaching panel. An example of that is David King and Jade Rawlings at Richmond.

If Denis was to stay on next year, I would want the Coaching Panel like this:

Senior Coach: Denis Pagan
Matchday Assistant: Brett Ratten
Assistants
Terry Daniher (forwards)
Tony Liberatore (midfield)
Stephen Silvagni (defense)
Craig Bradley (Player Development)
Michael Voss
Chris Bond

With a panel like this, there are a few candidates to replace Denis at the end of his contract next year - depending on where the team is at. If Voss was one the coaching panel, I would say he would only be there part-time due to his media responsibilities with Ch 10 and 3AW.

My final verdict
Denis Pagan should remain at the Carlton Football Club to at least the end of his current contract, which expires at the end of 2008. His future should be reviewed then.

Very very unrealistic with all that support staff you have there.

And i can't see SOS coming back to the club in a hurry. I'd be very happy to be pleased wrong though! And what's the big deal with Voss?? The guys is boring as hell on the commentary team, speaks with no passion or excitement... puts me to sleep.... zzzz

great players dont always make great coaches. Not understanding this push for Voss.
