Delisted Jack Martin [Selected by Carlton in the PSD]

I have absolutely no doubt about that. You don't need to make up bs on the side to support your point.
You 2 are really cute, but unfortunately we all know Martin will end up at Carlton, his contract and tenure will have nothing to do with his value, which is an early to mid 2nd rounder

Enjoy

What have I made up?
Geez where to start

That Martin has nominated Carlton ( made up)
That it will be pick 20-26 ( made up)

You are stating media speculation as if you had insight, it’s about as insightful as oranges are orange

What is even the point of this thread.

He will be a Carlton player.

The deal will get done.

Deals for uncontracted players invariably get done.

Kind regards and with thanks.

Agee, most Carlton supporters can see his upside and most Suns supporters are tired of looking for it. Deal will get done

He will be an asset for you as your side uses the ball better than ours

They will trade him if they are proposed the right deal.

If Lynch or Ablett were available in the PSD you bet your ass they would take them, like every other club would.

Just because they have traded former captains doesn't mean they will trade other players for free.

So why didn't they match Lynch's offer?

Why didn't they hold May to the final year of his contract?

Nothing suggests GC would be silly enough to waste a PSD pick to retain a player who wants out. It's literally a laughable idea.

Cripps confirmed this on SEN last week. I very much doubt he made it up.

I don't think anyone is saying he made it up. Cripps confirmed Jack wants to come to Carlton. That's not in dispute. I believe that is exactly where he'll finish up but the fact remains that he hasn't NOMINATED Carlton yet. And as soon as he does, you can guarantee the VIC media will be all over it, and then we can all continue the to-ing and fro-ing of what his worth is...

My mob will want more than he's worth and your lot will want to pay under what he's worth......that's what makes the world go round.

You do realise, after the entire Gibbs saga, that quite a few trades haven't had "NOMINATIONS"?

For good reason. They don't want it played out in the media. 'Treat the media like Mushrooms'.

Are you really arguing technicalities on this front? Cripps isn't going to come out and say that as our captain if a deal hasn't pretty much been worked out already.

Martin won't nominate, players do that to put pressure on their clubs to make the trade and from the sounds of things this one is already worked out. Talks of getting a 1st round pick or sending him to the PSD and redrafting him are stupid, no club makes life this hard. You will eventually just accept what is offered because if the shoe was on the other foot the last thing you want is bad blood preventing you from picking up a player that actually wants to move to the GC.

What are the options if you can't strike a deal?
A: He nominates for the national draft and anyone can pick him up. If he falls to your first pick 8 you can use that or wait and hope he falls to 39 (lol)
B: He nominates for the PSD and GC can pick him up and if not MFC can, as long as they agree to contract terms which they would both happily do.

GC are very to happy to have him on their list even if he doesn't want to be there.

Strange that this trade has garnered so much interest from Adelaide fans. Especially considering that when Carlton habe sat at the trade table with Adelaide we've extracted what we wanted for what we've been prepared to pay or accept.

Maybe thats it. Bad memories Crows fans?

You aren't very good at this are you, they are predictions?

Look forward to reviewing them with you :D

I don't think anyone is saying he made it up.

Look at the post I quoted. That is exactly what was said.

Each to their own but I don’t need a Damian Barrett article as confirmation of a nomination.

If the captain of an AFL side comes out in public and says Jack Martin wants to come to Carlton, I think that’s a pretty good indication that a nomination has occurred.

Because they received a trade they were happy with.

PSD picks are virtually worthless, there is no 'wasting them'.

I doubt a Martin will need to go into the PSD. A deal will get done, despite the posturing here

Correct. Despite others attempts to muddy the waters my initial statement simply stated GC has power in this trade. Zeggie's points regarding 'people's feelings' and 'wasting PSD picks' have failed to convince me otherwise.

It’s not like you lodge paperwork and are awarded some kind of official “NOMINATED” status. You simply tell the clubs your preference and they get to work sorting it out. I’d take Cripps at his word. He knows Martin from junior footy days and has confirmed what most footy media were on to about 3 weeks ago - Martin wants to be a Blue.

I feel Gold Coast should chase Levi Casboult and simply give him the 2 year deal he wants. If they do this, Carlton will throw him in as steak knives.

Actually GC have the lowest degree of power compared to Carlton or any other club, Martin is uncontracted.
