It was 100% bunk. Started by Jon Ralph who proposed that because we didn't get Naughton it made sense we were now going for JUH - which the rest of the media ran with as it if were truth. Bloody idiots.
I’d also be shocked if Sydney are making these supposed massive offers anyway. I’d have thought that, like the Dogs, your focus would be on retention rather than recruitment.

There’s an insane amount of talent under 25 years old at the Swans - more important to lock away guys like McDonald than to chase a guy from the same draft year when the two have basically been on par with each other so far anyway

The only source of any Jamarra to Sydney offer is Leigh Montagna saying "Someone like Sydney could offer him $1.5m a year", and all these sites have ran with it like gospel.

After Naughton, Jamarra and our other re-signings, it's hard to imagine we'd have the cap space to go after a bigger name FA mid. Really need to nail the next draft or 2.

Our older midfielders will be transitioned out freeing up cap space I guess. When you are 30+ and approaching the end of a contract, any serious injury or drop in form could spell the end

We need to choose a 22-24yo that is on the edge of selection at a team with a stacked midfield, and we need to get that decision right.

Very concerned. It's not even the goal/behind ratio he often sprays it on the full or doesn't make the distance.

This isn't a knock on jamarra as he's still.young but I think we play better without him currently. He is still learning his forward craft and consistently you see him and naughton/Darcy fly for the same ball. I don't think he understands yet to play that decoy role for the better of the team yet. It'd almost like see ball get ball for him atm. He will learn but that's been part of our issues early in the season

Lots of media/pundits bang on about Naughton pushing back either permanently or more commonly during a game (I’m not opposed to the latter).

My view is why isn’t Jamarra getting a push to be more adaptable. He’s nowhere near as involved in score involvements as Naughton, so if he’s not kicking goals he’s barely involved.

Surely he’s the one who could be pushed back or onto a wing/centre bounce. This might reduce the times we have Naughton and Marra crashing into each other (which I totally blame on the coaching staff).

He's actually one of the worst in the league according to xScore.

82 players had 40 shots on goal last year. He was the fourth-worst in points attained vs. the expected score of those shots (-0.51 points per shot). Curtis, Gresham, McKay worse. He actually generated 93 shots last year (8th in the league), it's just that a combination of a lot of those being far from goal and his woeful conversion meaning that he wasn't in the top 10 for total goals or whatever.

The issue is he's kept that this year - among 82 players with 15 shots on goal this year, he remains 6th worst in the league in accuracy, (-0.65 points per shot). The issue is that basically nobody else features in the bottom 10-15 across both seasons except for Jamarra - for example Harry McKay is actually kicking a bit above league average in 41 shots this year.

It's a genuine issue that's costing himself a fair chunk of the value of a player that he otherwise has, and people used to get up in arms about it with Naughton even though Jamarra's arguably far worse over a bigger sample size than Naughton. Maybe it's because Naughton would miss the odd close one with bad technique, but Jamarra seems to have consistently stuffed up shots 45m out by not making distance/not even getting a behind for them, which is far worse in terms of expected value/league average for the shot, but visually appears less bad.

His last quarter goal made the distance easily. Quite capable of long kicking, but rushed his last shot and also rushed two set shots against Essendon when the game was over.

I think he tries to kick shots from 40+ out too hard, even though he has the distance - like he thinks he needs to kick them with 105% (rather than 95%) power, meaning that he shanks/hooks them way too often. Like he doesn't know the capabilities of his own distances as a kick.

Hopefully it's an easier thing to solve, because it's more the mental application/understanding of his kicking, not anything technical/biomechanical.

Do we allow players to practice goalkicking now? Having Johnno as a p/t goalkicking coach would suggest so.

IIRC at one point the conventional wisdom was not to. That seemed counter-intuitive to me but maybe the sports physicians and physios had some say in it.

Also , annoying me and for quite sometime is the lack of a forward system other than roost it onto our forwards heads who fly together.
This gets us all frustrated but you never see McKay or Curnow attack a high ball together.

One of our.main issues there.

Yeah he's 100% got the distance for most shots 50m+. Just seen him land it short multiple times.

He's getting enough shots on goal per game he's just fluffing it sadly. Still going at under 40%

JUH is the least of our problems - talented and smart forward with a but of yips. As long as he signs that is.

When he rushed that last shot at goal, no one went to have a word with him. Bont, or another mature head should have got to him, told him not to rush, calm down etc. The most important thing was that he kicked the goal. No one supported him, he rushed it and messed it up. A failure of leadership for mine. Not good enough.

Wasn’t Bont on the bench?
