Traded Jason Horne-Francis [to Port Adelaide in multi-club trade]

Are GWS looking to use picks 3, 12, 15, 18 and 19 purely for the draft? Or do they want to get some players in via trade?

Maybe we could upgrade pick 33 or 43 for one those later picks and offer up Byrne-Jones or Bonner?

We genuinely need to trade away a player for 2nd round. Can't see it happening another way.

Hayes, Drew, Bonner, DBJ, Farrell. DBJ with most value in that lot perhaps as an All-Australian and club BnF although he was off it best this year. I know he just resigned but yeah either him or Drew

In all seriousness North have actually done fine out of this deal. So have West Coast. GWS showed up, bent over and handed over the lube to make it work for everyone else, and I salute them for it.
Yeah I think north have done well. What more can you hope for to get for a player that wants out than a similar pick + a future 1st on top. That’s a good deal.

Also west coast, despite people knocking them to get out of pick 2 and the private school vic boys and into hewett territory , whose not far behind, if at all those vic boys plus get another pick. That’s good for them.

Ports given up a lot, but the fact we get future 2nds and 3rds back helps a lot,

In the end rozee butters jhf Bergman sinn to look forward too in our midfield.

I really rate that group of players as a future midfield. High end young talent there.

Okay now let's think through this mess of a post.

North want a top 5 and a decent player for JHF, apparently.

Rioli is a 'gun player', apparently.

So it follows that JHF is worth about the same as a top 5 pick and Rioli?

Okay, well if that's the case, why are we trading a premium to West Coast to get the top 5 pick and Rioli, but then we still have to throw in another player on top?

This is why West Coast shouldn't be involved in the deal. They will ask for massive trade capital for pick 2. They'll want overs. If pick 2 alone isn't then enough to trade for JHF, then Port are better off just cutting them out entirely and giving up whatever draft capital that 2 + Rioli would cost directly to North. Both Port and North end up with a better deal if West Coast are just excluded from the whole thing. West Coast can take some scraps for Rioli or Port can PSD him.
So simples go and get another top 5 pick and come back.
And piss off WCE in the process hoping no one picks up Jnr in the draft.
This is ports mess to clean up.

This feels like a real logic fail

If you can't get a top 5 pick with the trade capital you have, then the trade capital you have isn't worth a top 5 pick?
A top 5 pick by itself is going to cost less than a top 5 pick and West Coast's wildly inflated valuation of Rioli.

I thought it was a given, maybe I should’ve realised this was just a circular argument with no point.

I thought so too. Would think Bonner and our current 33 would get an early 20s pick. May still do that and its being held up by others but I guess it also depends on this year vs future pick if that makes a difference.
Your future picks are a bit of a risk for someone taking on. I wouldn't want to trade in both your f1 and f2. You should get a much easier draw and it looks like you are topping up for a serious tilt.

Gold Coast would be the most sensible club to go and get pick 5 from, if they and the Crows would hurry the **** up and do the Rankine deal. They need draft points for Jed Walter next year. If we could get AFL permission to trade out future picks, maybe 5 for 8 + F2 + F3 or something along those lines. If that's not enough trade out some of our picks this year or someone like Bonner for some more future picks and throw them in. Then 5 and F1 for JHF.

If they're not complete dumbasses, Gold Coast could then substitute 8 for 7 in the Bowes deal, so they're only going two picks down rather than three. It's not like that would make Geelong pull out.

GC need to use three picks this years draft, their caps at breaking point, and list spots are tight, taking a top 5 pick is a no brainer for them.

As above, and also you're almost giving up more there just for JHF than what JHF and Rioli would cost

After recent developments I've made a quick change as to what we will accept for rioli

1 X pick 16 lower OR 2x second round pick Or Georgie OR

Now Rioli must be included in any dealings with JHF if you want us to be third party. You must take him and pay for him. Have a good day. We will not help you on your quest for a top 5 pick without taking rioli and paying for him :)

I haven't seen a single suggested deal from a West Coast supporter that suggests that this is remotely true. You all seem to want two firsts and Georgiades or at worst SPP. There are exactly zero Port fans who wouldn't keep Georgiades or SPP over keeping a couple of midrange future picks.

Ur suggestion was pick 8, and your future 1st, 2nd and 3rd pick all for JHF. Check again, that's what you said

That or something similar gets pick 2 and Rioli imo
If that's the case, sign us up, but it would go against what most of your compatriots seem to think a fair deal is.

Probably wrong thread to discuss specifics of WC Port trades but its not as absurd or far away as what I think you think it is.

And I can't see Port getting what North wants anywhere else....maybe GC as you say, .....or Dodoro ;)

Well pony up Port.

Add a future 2nd to pick 8 and Ports future 1st and you get 2 and Rioli.

Maybe Port is one club asking for clarification on can they trade both F1 and F2 picks.

I hope the AFL schedule double up games Eagles v Port next season.
