Well perhaps if Geelong wanted to go forward, they might be few more goals up. They've been ****ing around with the ball and the scoreboard indicates that.
13 scoring shots to 5. That's 8 more scoring shots and 8 goals if they kicked straight.

You rate pre-season games higher then i do. Pre-season games are the time to experiment with players, **** around a bit with structures, and ideally unearth 1-2 players that can push into the best 22.

Beyond that, it means nothing.
The problem is we should be experimenting primarily with midfield structures to see what is going to work in the AFL season.

So far, any contest that doesn't involve Matt Crouch, we are hopeless.

The only positives I've seen from the pre-season matches so far is Hampton looks solid, and Milera has been productive (just not this week). Otten also been very good

Only 3 weeks from Round 1. Surely we'll be playing harder and better skilled footy by then. Blow out the cobwebs now, ready for the marathon ahead.

Except we are using this to find midfielders and we've found one, Hampton.

This game is resembling the game at adl oval last year. Our lack of pressure and inability to win enough ball in the midfield is very worrying.

I don't think our midfield is doing badly considering the outs. In fact we lead clearances by 4. The problem is our defensive pressure especially from our forward line, although that is to be expected considering we are testing out a few things.

Wouldn't worry too much, it's just JLT

How dare you suggest our midfield has any strengths at all.

Yeah, but to see them play so poorly is annoying. The Crows players look like witch's hats at times. Poor positioning, poor decision making (too many hand balls in a chain). Chasing tails. Very disappointing.

The result doesn't matter. How we play given the personnel matters
I'm not watching the game, pre season means next to nothing really. It does sound like the young mids are going OK so far in the 2 games and let's be honest they're the only places up for grabs.

If anyone wants to melt down after a pre-season game, next week is the one to do it. That's the dress rehearsal. There is still uncapped rotations, 8 bench players along with different team strategies that are used this week. Who knows what we might be trying, or where they might be in a training load. Nothing to be concerned about yet.

The young mids aren't going okay at all. Hampton is looking good, Milera should claim a spot, and everyone else is varying degrees of mediocre to awful.

(This is excluding midfielders who played last year like Crouch and Atkins who have been good)

Haha, two goal diff and its melt city in here! Glad I don't have hardly any access to the net. Given the experience difference I was expecting a two goal to about 9 goal margin. We're on track for the middle of that so, meh for me for the moment.

Better in the middle this week, went bad late in the first quarter tho. Lot of wasted kicks to half forward area by us, just gifting them no pressure turnovers. Lots of players still to come into it, everyone getting a turn in and out of where the action is.

Have noticed in all the JLT games a lot of frees being paid and often large differentials, which seems crazy to me, must mean all the rest of the games in history have been umpired wrong?!?!? Anyway, last week we were beneficiary, this week its 8-1 down at half time - perhaps its the away team umpiring rule.

Hampton, Otten, ROB, Atkins have been good thus far.

Might check in again after the game. Have fun in here. :thumbsu:
