wont be stable when our stars are retired and we are on the bottom of the ladder for multiple years
OMG, unbelievable

didn't we just have best first year player, best young player and fifth in the rising star?

or is it our history of lingering at the bottom of the ladder?

have you confused this board with the saints board?

I'd hate to think if some of these guys barracked for Saints, Carlton, Melbourne etc. Truly spoilt.

remember the prelim in 2004? I think that we lost our game to Brisbane by about 9 points, Saints lost their game by about a goal (could have been the other way around ...)

Look at what has happened with both of those teams since then. And what both teams can look at over the next couple of years.

it's one thing to be cynical, it's another thing to be a flog.

Exactly. I remember many in the media at that time predicted the Saints to be the much better and more successful side. We won 3 flags and they didn't win any. The Saints supporters would kill for just one flag, as would Melbourne supporters. Some people need to be more grateful. As you say, we also have the brighter future the next few years.

Best first year player who is mature age and is 50/50 to stay with us.
Best young player that is 25 (should be changed to best middle aged player)
5th in the rising star is something

the arrogance of geelong supporters is unbelievable

Definition of arrogant: having or revealing an exaggerated sense of one's own importance or abilities.

So essentially, those that are overly negative, failing to acknowledge any positives & and continually telling those that do look on the positive side how they are wrong could easily be described as being arrogant

Just read over the last couple of pages here. And struggled to find too much at all that marked it as a thread about Joel and the captaincy.

Plenty of denigration and relentless negativity on show, though.

So it was still easy enough to recognise that I was on the Geelong Big Footy Board in its 2018 incarnation.

You have my deepest sympathy.

The negativity of a “supporter “ after all these years beggars belief!!

How do you get out of bed every morning ...FMD

And Parfitt, Constable, Narkle, Sav etc.

I love the way these sad flogs say we will be crap in 5 years when they are writing off players we haven't even drafted yet. We could absolutely smash the next 5 drafts and be contenders still. No to mention they are writting off a whole bunch of first and second year players who have the audacity not to be superstars in their first 10 games :drunk:

Well said

I’m seriously in the camp that regards Cynical, Biggy Boy and Co to be nothing more than troll puppets accounts...it’s the only explanation for their constant negative gutter posts year in year out despite the success we have had over the years

I suspect they will be opposition supporters looking at stirring up trouble

True. But it doesn't mean you're endlessly satisfied afterwards either.

Oh lordy cynical has had a mare the last couple of pages. Probably should have not doubled down on the stupid.
As for the thread question. Just like it was when I last replied here the answer is still a flat no. Easily the best candidate to lead this club.

Really?

You haven't read lines like "Even if I never see another flag, the club has now provided me with so much joy that I'm happy"? I have plenty of times.

There’s clearly distinctions in interpretations.

I doubt that a single person who says that or has said that has closed their bigfooty account, and headed off to the hills to live in happiness never needing to see that cats win again.

Supporters being happy and optimistic about our future because we’ve won flags in the past is at complete odds with supporters being pessimistic after the history we’ve had and the overall club performances (games, finals, recruiting, trading etc) that we have been put out (fairly decent overall when compared to all other teams/clubs).
