Just another baseless rumour. I think Demon fans are setting themselves up for dissappointment here. What If he goes to Collingwood?

Dissapointment?

I reckon the price you are paying is too much. I would have been relieved to find out you werent really gonna pay that Massive price.

Melbourne would be such a good club with judd in the midfield though:thumbsu:

its almost certain judd will go to melbourne how did they win the race for judd, i cant see the reasoning why judd would go to a side well on the way down the ladder, they got nothing there and aint got the playing stock to play finals footy within the next 5 years

I think Judd is a guy who hates the limelight. He'd be happy to just play footy in a low-profile Club like the Dees. The fact that he supported the Dees and was associated with the VFL affiliate Sandringham in his junior days, does have an attraction no doubt. The media have a ridiculously inflated view of the Dees future IMO. They have a lot of old players on their list who have been around for ages. They lack quality replacement for the their forwards and rucks. Their defence is weak as well. They are at a critical point of their development. If they don't acquire the young talent required to fill these vacancies very soon, they could be in for a very long bleak period. That's why a high draft pick cost could have a huge impact on the Dees. The Blues situation is a little different. We already have developing talent on EVERY line. This draft will just be adding to quality we already have, and increase the chances of the players we have becoming superstars. If we get Judd, we'll also keep our #1 pick as well. I'm happy to trade #3 and #20, but am concerned about any prospect of trading a young player like Walker or Kennedy. I hope it doesn't happen. :)

There are so many rumours about Judd at the moment, and I don't like to add to them, but I was told this last week and I was told again last night that Carlton had offered Judd the captaincy and would offer up picks 3, 20 and Josh Kennedy to the Eagles. Fevola and pick 1 are not negotiable.
Also heard that Josh is more than willing to go home.

Admittedly I got this information second hand, but the person who told me still maintains it to be true.

Also heard that Lance is more than likely gone!

Let's all wait and see.
I doubt that offering the captaincy will persuade him. Yes I think it's well known what we're offering but we don't know that will be acceptable to WC or that Judd wants to come. And if not will Josh still want to stay?

To put these comments into perspective this bloke previously said Glass was not a key position defender. His assessments of players in other teams tend to be limited to the last game watched.

Melbourne had a stinker this year. They also had an incredible run of bad luck with injuries. They have some handy young players. They have a couple of areas to address (who doesn't). Judd would make a huge impact at that club.

And he would make a massive difference at yours - lacking real leadership as it does. The development of Murphy and Gibbs would be fast-tracked to the point where you will have a midfield as good as any within a year or two.

Exactly it all up to Judd. If he wants to go to Melbourne because he supported them then I can't see anyone persuading him otherwise.
It will all come down to what can be offered to WC and whether or not they accept that.
It's still up in the air at the moment. But don't count us out!

T..Melbourne had a stinker this year. They also had an incredible run of bad luck with injuries. ...

Excuses excuses. Sounds like your bleating out the Gary Lyon media mantra. There are SERIOUS structural problems with your list. Judd will bolster the midfield but there are big problems in the forward line and ruck with impending retirements and NO developing replacements. That is the issue. This is probably the worse time for the Dees to trade away a bucket load of draft picks. The Dees are only 1-2 bad years away from a merger with the Hawks, and this is going to be a make or break decision. The stakes are very high. In fact the whole existence of your Club is at stake. :)

neitz, roberton, johnstone, white, carol, holland, jamar, whelan, etc. no sponsers, no money, no facilities, no membership, no supporter base. need i say more?

Hang on here(if this rumour is true)! Melbourne are one of the oldest list in the league, along with Freo and Adelaide, and should be right now rebuilding or at least keeping draft picks in my opinion. They are setting themselves up for disaster if they go through with this trade. Carlton know how valuable draft picks are (despite the different circumstances) and I think if Melbourne do this many bad years may come. They should only do this trade if they think that they can win a flag next year IMO. Although I may be wrong as a midfield of McLean, MacDonald, Bruce, Johnstone and Judd is very impressive.

you can trade a first year player if they agree to the move

AFL Rules said:
Any Player selected by a Club at the National Draft Selection Meeting or otherwise included on the Primary List of a Club, shall be ineligible to be included on the Primary List of any other Club for a period of 23 months from the date upon which he is selected or included on the Primary List.

Thanks for clearing that up Bluebear. It just fascinates me the number of members of the media & football supporters who think they have access to the 'inside word' on these things. This ridiculous rumour that BT has aired twice in the media this week just demonstrates his lack of credibility as a football commentator.

I see an article in todays Age from the Melbourne FC saying they do not have an outcome yet for Judd so all those people thinking its in the bag are just guessing. They even admitted they had no idea of Judd's decision.

Well, good luck to them. That is a huge price to pay for Judd. Just massive. I'm kinda glad we're not involved now. :)

I agree parrot. If this is true of course.
Not so sure that J. Frawley is worth pick 9m though. As far as I am concerned, it is still all speculation until we here it from Judd himself.

Judd views your Club as having no future. I think he's spot on. :)

Judd had no view on the Tigers as they didnt show interest in him - the Blues would certainly only be considered by Judd for the draft picks they could give to the Eagles. Can see no other reason why!:D

lol. The Tiges have been ringing Judd constantly since his arrival in Melbourne, and he just continues to say no. It's kinda sad. :)

nearly as sad as the Blues throwing everything they have in desperation - its certainly not the Tigers looking like gooses here ..... the funniest part is that if a deal is not done then he goes to the Tigers anyway - unless the desperates want to deal! ;)

Yes you can trade a player that has only been on a list 1 year. To say otherwise is just not factual.

The rule quoted is quoted further on and mentioned that this rule is invalid if the a all parties agree... So if a contracted player agrees to be traded.
