the batting line up was horrendous. people are blaming huss. what about Warner. he batted slow. had the best conditions and dropped a sitter.

should have went with a batting lineup of

Paine
Finch
Watson
White
Hussey
Warner
Smith
Okeefe
Johnson
Lee
Tait

Who had the worst S/R's..I'll give you a quick clue- it wasn't Warner or Watson. Best conditions...say what, did Hussey and White not face the pie throwing spinners? Lol at Finch opening ahead of Warner/Watson.

So blame the bowlers...how about the two batsmen who had a S/R of less than 100 in a T20...they score at a run a ball, we win. They don't, and we lose. Lee bowled tripe, Hussey and White lost the game with their batting.
Hussey had a S/R of 104. If it goes up to 120 he scores 4 more runs. He had much the same strike rate as Warner. Lee's shocking bowling was more damaging, especially at the end against the tail end.

If people are saying they were doing really well in the first ten and there is a huge outlier, it distorts the performance. It shows that except for a single over they weren't scoring particularly well.

It shows that the openers made 83 off 8.4 overs. That's cricket. If they were more runs coming to that Swann over then maybe Watson wouldn't have taken the risk of hitting in the air with fielders back. Simply the openers made what they did. It really is that simple.

What about the so called big hitter White..what was his S/R again...those two cost the match. You can't go at 5 an over at best when you have 7 wickets in hand!

Your logic is really ridiculous ..guess what ? they were doing well in the first ten overs ..and yes they did have a good over ....how about the rest of the batsmen also have a big over in the last ten ??

Yes the batting was ordinairy in parts, but Lee cost us the game, plain and simple.

That second last over was atrocious, and he was lucky it only went for 11.

And the one before that was almost worst, he bowled a leg side full toss to Swann who was so shocked at the ball he did nothing with it.

Lee has to go, he can not go to the World Cup, I can not see him being in our best 15, let alone best 11 in the sub-continent.

I want to win the World Cup, not just turn up and play a few games and go home, and we won't win the WC with Lee in our first 11.

Finch is the best opener in the country.

No he isn't, Watson or Warner is. Paine is a very close 3rd though. Finch is lucy to be anywhere near the side, Christian is better!

"They"? Warner's strike rate and total runs are much the same as Hussey's, but Hussey is considered to have lost the game.

Wasn't the squad picked for both T20 games?

If so the only change you could make would be Dougie in for Lee or Tait and a reshuffling or the batting order.
12 man squad, Pattinson 12th man.

There's no way to defend Hussey but in fairness to White that's the way he bats in T20 cricket. He usually sees off at least 6 balls, gets his eye in and then goes. Sometimes it pays off but unfortunately tonight it didn't.

Warner has been out of form for 2 months now. he is IMO perfect for 6 or 7 role. Watson isn't a opener he is a 3 or 4. Paine and finch is Australia's best option.

Ordinary? It was plain AWFUL by the middle order. We score 30 more runs (which we should have). You should ALWAYS double your score at the 10 over mark...we were about 90ish after 10, yet we only made 157, that is at least 20 runs below par and I am being generous there. That is the batsmen's fault and no-one else. Yes Lee is a turnip, and should be nowhere near the side. But in this game, he was not the reason we lost- White and Hussey were!

I meant as a whole clearly. Tait was good I thought, hes in the team for wickets and not so much economy, I thought that was obvious? He should of had a wicket first ball, can't blame him for the lack of fielding skills.

this.

pretty funny all the vicos blaming lee and tait:D some of you blokes are pretty special. think back to the bit where dussey and white were doing their best michael clarke impressions and burning up watto's hard work and you'll discover why we were fooked.

o'keefe needs a fielding clinic

taity bowled bout as well as you can expect a bloke with 2 t20s behind him this year. 2 chances dropped off his first 2 overs... would've been a different story.

we will continue to languish with the bangas and pakis of the world until we take fielding seriously again. struggle to remember the last time one of our boys threw down the stumps.

lee was poor, especially his last over. couldn't hit his yorker for shit. still don't know why nannes wasn't picked. him and tait together are lethal. baffling stuff

hats off to watto

Whoops, though Dougie was 12th for some reason.

Oh well, I reckon Patto will get hammered at the international T20 level but he probably couldn't do worse than Lee/Tait did tonight. He's not a particularly good domestic T20 bowler at the moment though but it'd still be worth a shot.

the quicker the teams cuts the fat bowling wise the better. if dirk played we would have won. however today proved aus needs CMAC desperately for the shorter forms of the game.
