KFC Twenty20 International Game 1: Australia v England @ Adelaide (Wed)

Warner has been out of form for 2 months now. he is IMO perfect for 6 or 7 role. Watson isn't a opener he is a 3 or 4. Paine and finch is Australia's best option.

Warner just scored a 50 in his last T20 for NSW, almost winning the match that NSW were never in...and he was our 2nd top scorer. He is our opener. Finch should be in State cricket.

I'd rather say bye bye to Tait and Lee. We should not be thinking Tait will be any good anymore. Tait needs to bowl upwards of 160kmph to be dangerous becuase without it he bowls erratic trash. Lee is the poster boy, who again has been picked off what he did years ago!

OK people, seriously, why are we at panic stations? We actually played quite well, really. England are the T20 champions, and they beat us by 1 wicket off the last ball of the match. We made 17 runs more than the average score at Adelaide oval. Johnson bowled well. SOK bowled well with limited overs. Lee showed good signs, as well as signs of rustiness which is to be expected. Tait should have had Bell once and could have had him twice (the Warner catch was a very difficult one, but SOK's was a sitter). Smith batted well down the order. Finch looked alright on debut. Watson confirmed he is an elite cricketer in the short forms, to go with being a very, very good one in Test cricket. White's captaincy was not horrible, he is a very good captain as his days with Victoria have shown, it was just a night when things didn't quite go his way.

Now, could we make changes? Yeah, probably. Mike Hussey should have been in instead of Finch. Nannes should have been in for Lee, Tait or Johnson (but Johnson was pleasingly solid tonight). Paine should have come in at 3 as was listed. Other than that, it's hard to complain. We went up against the best ODI team in the world, and while an honourable loss is never good enough, we certainly weren't disgraced. There is plenty to take out of that loss.

Ben Hilfenhaus says hi.:eek:

Lee and Tait cant be n a T20 match together, would pick Lee over tait in a heartbeat, 3 of the first 6, 1 in the middle banned from the death. The pace attack was totally unbalanced tonight.

That was a "now that you mention it, they do post similar" think you are right however.

you know i'm right

No today proved we needed Dan Christian REALLY badly after our captain decided it was a test match and his co pilot Hussey decided to support his quest

at least until he goes for 10 off an over and everyone wants him dropped

hilfy's problem is if the ball doesn't swing he is going to be hit. if you have Watson in the t20 side you could take a risk and pick him.

He did bowl very nice last night. He is a world class bowler when he is swinging it but he doesn't do it enough.

Weather is looking a litte better for Friday Night;

http://www.bom.gov.au/vic/forecasts/melbourne.shtml

Max = 26
Low = 22

Metropolitan area

Cloudy. Rain, heavy at times during the morning, easing in the afternoon. A little drizzle later in the evening. Winds northerly averaging up to 55 km/h turning west to southwesterly up to 30km/h around midday.

God I hope it clears up at night, we need a win, and it will be a match watched around the world if it goes ahead.

Give me a game he has bowled well after he slowed down..go on. He needs to bowl 155 plus, otherwise don't pick him.

lol, ok. despite the goal post shift from "over 160" to "155 plus" and without f--k arsing around too much i'll go for the first t20 against the pakis in england last year. 2/25. does that count as "bowling well"?

bowled pretty much mid to low 140s all game.

Tait to Abdul Razzaq, OUT, 138.8 kph, clatter! Tait has made a mess of Razzaq's stumps with the perfect reverse-swinging yorker at high pace! Razzaq as looking for the full ball to thump through cover, but he was beaten for pace and couldn't get the bat down in time. Tait strikes!

Abdul Razzaq b Tait 7 (13m 11b 0x4 0x6) SR: 63.63

18.3
Tait to Umar Akmal, OUT, castled him! Great thinking from Tait, Umar must have been expecting a thunderbolt the way he charged in, but instead he sends down a slow cutter. Umar was through the shot before the ball reached him, and looked back to see his stumps disturbed.

Umar Akmal b Tait 64 (43m 31b 7x4 3x6) SR: 206.45
But what an innings from Umar, he's played a superb knock to get his team back into this game.

thanks for watching

*waits for inevitable goal post shift/ridicule of opposition/other excuse*

Thats why supporting England has always been bad for your health . It wasnt total dominance but i felt England were always on top for the first 36 overs and then total collapse .Hopefully with more cricket to come our players can get more match sharpness and go on to show we can play .

A world record as well

I've got no problems giving dan a go in the one day team. however i don't think he is the best option at the 6 or 7 role.

Matches-Ave-Econ-SR

Lee 17-26.7-7.6-20

Tait 17-16.1-6.5-14

Lee is an ODI bowler. Tait has a surprisingly low economy rate which he gets by taking wickets and putting them on the back foot. when his fielders drop the catches the wickets dry up, they feel lucky and play there shots. he would've looked a lot healthier tonight if he had 1/0 after 1 ball...
