KFC Twenty20 International Game 1: Australia v England @ Adelaide (Wed)

There were still men in the outfield when Shezad was on strike. I would have had them in, and probably sat someone in his back pocket.

Exactly there was at least 3 (I think 4) on the boundary when he faced and why didn't Paine go to the stumps for the entire over, seeing they needed less than one a ball? If he didd they would of missed at least 1 run they got from a ball that dropped at the batsman's feet.

The field placings by Paine & White for the whole night where a joke.

Didn't watch the game and haven't seen any scores.

England passed our total in the 12th over yeah?

Last ball (unless your trolling???)

Would of been over by 15th over if not for Watson's heroics - one of the best all round performances I've been privaleged to watch in 25 years of attending games at Adelaide Oval.

Great banter between the Poms & Aussie supporters with no agro, least not where I was under the scoreboard on the hill.

should have opened with finch and Paine and have Watson @ 3

Interesting call seeing Watson was our best batter by a country mile.

I know nothing about Finch though and was surprised that he (add O'Keefe & Smith)would get a game ahead of Dan Christian or Callum Ferguson especially on there home ground.

Finch was the second highest scorer in the BigBash last season with 189 runs (1 behind Pollard) whereas Christian only scored 54 and had an extra innings. Christian was unlucky to miss out however Finch did deserve his spot in the side.

I just think a reshuffling of the batting order and better bowling choices would be fine. The team that was there tonight could have won it easily - if Paine had batted at third and Lee had bowled a little less towards the end it would have been a different story imo. No idea why they put blokes like Smith in when they had a number of sloggers there. Should have definitely put Paine in but if not someone like Johnson who'll either hit boundaries or go out.

Gotta admit it was an exciting game though.

Fair enough then...

Callum Ferguson in a T20 side? Hahaha, some people are quite funny :D

Anyway his International T20 record sees him with an average of 5 and a s/r of 84...

His domestic is a little better, 20 and 124 but compared to the great man Finchy, 43 @ 134, its no contest ;)

What I dont understand is their obsession with picking half a side full of opening batsmen, sure they usually have the best records but they do it against a new ball and the field up

Warner has to go, yes he has scored some runs for NSW this year, at a very slow rate for him, just isnt up to it anymore

Not bagging Finch, he clearly goes alright, but that was last season ;)

Finch also went beserk in the Indian Champions League in the winter didn't he? And then he started this year's Big Bash with a man of the match 58 off 38.
Did look nervous last night, though, as he did in his last Big Bash game (his second for the season), after he'd been named in this side. If he gets over them he'll hopefully have a great iT20 career. When he hits them they stay hit, like Warner and Hodge.

To me, Warner looks like he's auditioning for the one-day team in his recent T20 games. Like he's trying to show them that he can build an innings and not just slog, but it's not helping his T20 cricket. In T20 I think he needs to just get back to going the tonk.

Same can be said about White. At least with Warner he doesn't also set poor fields and have nfi about what bowlers to use.
Not his fault, he is used to having quality bowlers at his disposal at Victoria...

Plus he probably realises that CA would be upset if Tait and Lee dont get their full compliment of overs given they are the favourites of the selectors and in the side to get overs under their belts at International level

Its obvious the selectors dont want to win, all about giving the favourites match time before the WC

I guess we're all lucky to have you then. I'm sure you get everything right all the time, even when under incredible pressure, or the first time you take on a new role.
What's your secret? Please enlighten us all. You must really be something, epecially if White, who has a phenomenal winning strike rate in the last few years (in all 3 forms), has "NFI"!

Shaun Tait leaks runs, I think we bowl him poorly, should not open, should be used in maybe one over bursts.

Disagree with Tait being a problem. I though he actually showed why if fit he should play in ever LOI game we play. Wickets he takes em.

Not his fault NSW youngsters can't catch anymore (what is up with that NSW posters? need a fielding coach or something). If Bell went first ball (or even first ball of the second over) it would have made a big difference.

Have to use your biggest weapon with the ball first up, if he takes 2 wickets in the first 2 overs job done.

If you play an out and out quick he will go for runs, the trade off is he can take wickets.

I think you're spot on there, looked like he was worrying more about his technique and showing something to selectors. Rather than going the tonk - which we should of seen a lot earlier than when he holed out.
