This is what KM is saying... based on the GC's need for hard inside mids, he is right up there.Look at it from a GC & GWS point of view. What do you gain as a club from bidding on JV. If they consider him in the top 2 players then sure. A recruiter worth his salt would not risk picking a lesser talent in an attempt simply bluff another club into using an earlier pick. Anyone who has a say at those clubs would not allow them to bid on JV. the risk is too high.
If Melbourne decide he is not the third best player in the draft you may just get your wish.
Woot. Corrections to his profile below
#? GWS - Jack Viney (VIC - Mid)
Height: 178cm, Weight: 80kg, DOB: 13/04/1994
Recruited from: Oakleigh Chargers
Style: Joel Selwood
Player comparison: Toby Greene
Range: 1st round/2nd round
Profile: Really competitive and hard inside midfield. Could have joined an AFL club as a 17 year old and been a regular. Not a big fella, but purely and simply he is the hardest player I’ve seen coming through the system and his attack on the ball, attack on the man and aggression on the field is without equal and the big reason why he is such a dominant player already. Wins all the hard, contested ball and as a 17 year old was doing better than most of the 18 year olds who got drafted early, so GWS will get very lucky to have young Jack who I’m sure will very quickly become a Kevin Sheedy/Mark Williams/both fans favourite. Tackling is excellent. Is a real leader out on the field and is someone who really leads by his actions and hardness at the footy. Potential culture changer and sure to be a member of the leadership group soon enough. Really high character guy and hard worker who will put time into his game until he becomes elite. Jack has very clean hands and uses it well by hand consistently. Big time accumulator. Left foot kick, can use his right. Kicking is generally very good and can find his targets over short and medium range but doesn’t have that same hurt factor as some of the other elite mids in this draft. Speed is good and can break away from packs, also athletically I like his agility and side step, has some evasiveness and can burst off in another direction at pace. The big strength athletically is his endurance which without seeing any of his testing I suspect would be very, very good because he has such a high work rate.
Finish down the bottom. That'll improve your chance of getting a gun in the draftLooks like an ave draft for pies again, don't get me wrong we have got some good solid citizens out of late picks but gee it would be good to get a gun jnr soon.

Knightmare I appreciate your contributions to this site and have a question for you that is hopefully not too onerous, or time consuming. With your knowledge I expect/hope it won't be.
I'd like you to name your top 10 with regards to who you consider to have the most natural talent. A separate top 10 for who has the best leadership qualities and finally a top 10 when you combine talent and leadership. For example, I'd expect Garlett to appear early in your list of top 10 talent, but not appear on your list for top 10 leadership, whereas some players may appear in all three lists.
Thanks in advance, but if you're not able due to time constraints no worries. I do have reasons for asking, which I'll be happy to share.
Natural talent:
Knighmare can you give me your thoughts on some of the rebels talent? Obviously Tanner Smith is the standout, but what about the likes of Neade, Close, Rippon & Barry? Thanks.
Greatly appreciated.
Roughly where would you have had Viney and Wines for talent ?
Hi Knightmare,
just curious about your opinion in the 2010, 2011 & 2012 drafts combined what would be you top 10 players you would pick in order with Crouch, O'Meara and co included and the 17 yr olds GC and GWS have picked?
your opinion is rated more then anyone elses on BF and I think it would make for excellent viewing over the next 10 years to see how close you will get.
Not an easy task narrowing it down to 10! Would love 30 selections!
My 10 for 2010-2012:
1. Joe Daniher
2. Jeremy Cameron
3. David Swallow
4. Jonathan Patton
5. Zac Smith
6. Jaeger O'Meara
7. Lachie Whitfield
8. Jack Viney
9. Toby Greene
10. Harley Bennell
Thankyou, would you be willing to start a thread with your top 30 so we can all discuss our thought with you?
A top 30 thread in the draft + trading board sounds like a good idea.
19. Jonathan Giles
Jonathan Giles.
WINGARD really ? why not Josh green much better small forward then wingard
I hate these discussions. It's always more trouble than it's worth. But, because I'm bored, my top 10 would be...
1. Harley Bennell
2. Jaegar O'Meara
3. Brodie Grundy
4. Lachie Whitfield
5. Jeremy Cameron
6. Jake Stringer
7. Stephen Coniglio
8. Jon Patton
9. Chad Wingard
10. Sam Mayes
Giles is out of contract at the end of the year. Sos, pay the man, or someone else will.
