Have you seen much of Jake Long (son of Michael)?

Many seem to think we a certain to take him under F/S but he hasn't played much outside of school footy.

We have left number 13 open for a couple of years though.

Because the thread title indicates that the thread is about draftees, not a thread about his opinions about teams.

Lol! The thread is titled "Knightmare's 2014 Phantom Draft", ie. Where Knightmare thinks the kids who nominate for the 2014 draft will get drafted too. Its not titled "Knightmare rates the 2014 potential draftees".

Now this might come as a surprise to you but you need a predicted draft order before you can construct a phantom draft, its kind of important to know who has pick 1, 2, 3, 4 etc.. So Kightmare has given us his prediction of what the ladder will look like at the end of 2014.

Well, not really. You could do a power rankings, or just use the 2013 draft. Chris25 seems to cope fine.

If Knightmare used "power rankings" (i'm sorry but i'm not sure what these are?) or the 2013 draft then it wouldn't be Knightmare's phantom draft...

Kightmare's mock draft = where Knightmare believes the 2014 draftees will get drafted… Not where he thinks they would be drafted in 2013, or where he thinks they would be drafted according to the "power rankings", its really not that hard to understand

I'm aware how phantom drafts work, however if Knightmare bases his phantom draft not on the ladder, then it's a simple power rankings of draftees, if he is basing his draft on where he thinks teams will finish, and what they will need, it's then based on Knightmare's assumption of a) who will be the best players are and b) where the teams will finish, which will shape the draft, I'm happy for speculation on a) to occur, but b)?

But this is exactly what a phantom draft is!, you construct a phantom draft but predicting which teams will pick which kids based on where you think each team will finish and what you think their needs are… Therefor a thread titled "Knightmare's 2014 phantom draft" is going to contain Knightmare's assumptions of; 1) where each team will finish, 2) what each teams needs are, and therefor 3) where each kid will be picked taking into account the needs and draft position of each team...

Generally such a draft happens around June, not November.

Seriously dude you just need to get over the fact that KM has predicted that Richmond will finish 13th. To be disrespectful towards a guy who's thread you frequent is hypocritical aswell as ungreatful. If you're going to get upset over one person having a contradictory opinion to your own then you're in for a long summer mate.

Your 3rd round selection is the only bid you can make next year. If someone uses their 2nd round selection you will lose any potential father son. If Long is not in the top 40 players you will be able to get him.

May not nominate for the Draft.

It's up to the player.

So how does he end up on your list?

Doesn't nominate for the draft in 2014.

Opts to sit out the AFL in 2015 but will nominate for the draft and be picked up Father/Son in the 2015 draft as a 19 year old.

Jacob Brennan (West Coast Eagles) was picked up as a mature aged father son option, so you can be selected at ANY age.

So will he get a million dollars to do nothing for that year?

No kid will waste a year of football to play at a club and i am not sure your club is that desirable to twiddle his thumbs for a year. If he is any good he will nominate this year and be drafted.

Obviously it'd be great for the Dees if Billy Stretch is nominated by a team holding a pick after our first.

Watching footage of Clem Smith after this year's carnival I thought at first that he was an 18 year old, and would have drafted him in the first round this year for sure. Looks like a serious player, would love to pick him up with a late top 10 pick (hoping we finish around 10-12).
