KM other than Balta (even though he hasn't done anything to set the world a light so far this year), who else from the Cannons do you think could get drafted?
It looks from their list they have already given up on this season and are playing a lot of bottom age boys to concentrate on next year.

Of this years group outside of Balta, Caluzzi is that next player on that list (I'd most like to see drafted anyway). Podhaski, Hanna, Landt and Bernacki are others who will be considered.

Next year Bytel and Skidmore already look like chances along with Fletcher and West as father sons (Ess and WBD respectively).

That's a decent group already in the mix.

Hey knightmare sorry if you've already replied to this just wanted to know how Jarod brander is tracking. Is he still projecting as a top three pick

Seems only those that played metro will be considered. Agree with Padhaski, he is playing well.

Knightmare, Looking at KPD's who we desperately need do you think Clavarino would be a good fit for us and do you rate him? Garthwaite was best on yesterday but of course we will need another young player to develop. Do you think they would make a good combination in the years to come?

Also, do you think either Himmelberg or Finlayson (although he re-signed this year) from GWS would make good KPP targets this offseason?

Himmelberg wants a move to Brisbane to be close to his family.

Many still have Brander at number one on their draft boards. He hasn't dominated yet this season, but it's still early days and he feels by default to be top on most draft boards.

It's mostly the midfielders more so than the talls who are making up ground v Brander at this stage.

Clavarino is the early name many are talking about.

I don't love his game yet as a limited rebounder and intecepter. For me that's the sort of game you can get from rookies/late picks.

Given this, I'm expecting development from Clavarino this season to be coming forward as a potential invester.

I think the trade market might be the way to go for a key defender. Himmelberg and Finlayson from GWS are great targets - stuck behind Davis and Tomlinson, they're two underutilised key defenders of AFL quality who aren't getting a game. With the salary cap squeeze on GWS, you could probably get one of the two and end up with a long term player.

Jarrod Brander sustained a knee injury in School football yesterday .....hopefully not long term

Hopefully all comes back fine.

The other big game injury yesterday (though a much less major injury) was Sam Hayes who sat out the second half due to a split finger.

I believe it could be a medial and at worst 4-6

If you want KPD look at Naughton from Peel will be a star, the last key back you drafted from WA turned out well.

Naughton is WA only draft pick this year we are looking very very poor.

Already noting the lack of quality in wa colts games this year

Curtis Taylor is ahead of all of them.
Plays mainly at pegs and played in an edfl premiership side at 16. Still in metro squad I believe.

Knightmare from a purely personal POV have you seen David Handley of the Falcons play yet? He's one of my oldest friends son and from my local club.

He's kicked bags of 6 and 4 goals and leads the TAC goal kicking despite being an onball/flanker when playing for his home club.

He has a good tank and a knack for finding the ball but seems to be being played as a forward at TAC level.

Just interested in getting an unbiased opinion on his play.

Watched the Calder Cannons vs GWV Rebels game today and a Horsham lad I'd not seen before GWV Rebel Matt Lloyd was clearly B.O.G., played mainly in the backline, good size, great overhead, booming kick and a very athletic mover. I think he might be an under ager, also heard he's a good basketballer......do you have any intel on him Knightmare ??

Jarrod Berry's brother Tom another under ager impressed in the midfield for the Rebels also, not as tall as his brother but pretty solidly built abd just as hard at the football. Noah Balta for the Cannons was good but not great IMO. Big man Lloyd Meek had a good game for the Rebels dominating the Ruck and again showcased his excellent footskills for a big fellow, reckon he's a sneaky draft chance this year.

Watched Handley play yesterday as it happens. Kicked the four goals and is a solid component to the Geelong Falcons front half. He didn't do any one thing spectacularly but got to the drop of the ball up forward, reading the flight early. He also pushed up through the mids a few times and spread well from the contest.

He gets a lot of delivery with that Geelong Falcons midfield probably the best in the TAC Cup which helps.

Handley if picked is a late draft pick or rookie at this point. With a good season and if he does what the coaches and recruiters want from him, he can enter in the mix to be selected.

Many thanks. I had noticed that over the first 3 games he'd racked up 20 tackles, something he did very well in the GFL and seems to have carried on with in the TAC.

Matt Lloyd is the brother of Sydney's Jake Lloyd. I watched the game today also. He was involved in everything. He was also a primary option leaving defence. His kick was reliable - and he will have had very high stats in that particularly game with such high kickout numbers with all those Calder misses. Lloyd wasn't my B.O.G. but he was one of my four or five real standouts for the Rebels.

Berry also looks the goods for next year. Bottom ager so probably still grows a few more cm. He has serious acceleration and evasiveness and finds plenty of it. He could be better than his brother.

Meek being such a big presence and presenting strongly up forward. He can be in the draft mix. He's good too.

Seeing Balta play as much as he did through the ruck was frustrating. It's not going to help his development as a forward and will likely see his draft stocks place lower than they otherwise would. I really liked the glimpses from him when forward. So clean when the ball hits the deck and a threat overhead. Looks comfortable with ball in hand. Serious athlete. Unselfish to a fault and could probably back himself in more in front of the big sticks. He's a talent though.

Thought Balta possibly had his best game against GWV yesterday for the season in what's been a very slow start, think his time spent in ruck is probably a result of lack of alternative than anything else. I reckon he isn't a natural forward and would like to see him at CHB. Cudos to the VM selectors in their choice of the remaining top age Cannons in Balta, Landt and Podhajski. Landt made relentless options all day and frankly got burnt by a team who lack footy smarts and the ability to turn their heads, Podhajski worked tirelessly in what was an avalanche in the back line. Good to see that some can see the potential of players to play at a higher level surrounded by footy smarts!

He has a weird kicking action. Is it reliable? We have Garthwaite atm who has admittedly a worse kicking action but very effective.

Knightmare - last year we had a robust discussion concerning Burton, when you didn't have him as part of your top 20 players from the 2015 draft. Just wondering what your position on this is now?

No. Just starting a big footy rumour.

Just sh!ts me that Southern teams (supporters) believe they can just poach players from the Northern clubs willy nilly.
Well history shows it's more than just a belief.

Same as why Simpkin slid - there is a risk taking a kid that has had a bad injury. Ahern went from pick 7 to pick 69 in 2 years due to knee reco's.

The conversation was had at the end of last year where he didn't feel Burton would be a top 20 player for that draft 1 year on.
