John Butcher playing for Myponga/Sellicks beat Victor Harbour (with bryce gibbs) by a point. Butch playing a big part in the winning goal.

Get ready to be mad.

I’ve been chatting with RussellEbertHandball about Port’s AFL history. He’s send me some data from 1997 to 2007. I decided to go after the rest. I can now totally prove to all that the “This is not the SANFL anymore” is a nonsensical statement.

The Port Adelaide Football Club has been playing in the AFL for the past 28 years. Considering all matches played since 1997, Port has the FOURTH best winning percentage of the entire league. We have settled that we belong to the league and deserve to be among its top clubs. We are no minnows.

There’s an issue, though. We have no issue playing in the Minor Round. However, we SUCK in Finals. We suck badly.

This is how many GF a club has reached in proportion to the times it finished the Minor Round in the Top-3:

We are the 2nd club in number of Top-3 finishes. We are tied in 11th for GF played.

We can be more than we are. We should be more than we are. But, for that, we need to address our issue with chocking.

By faking cramp and letting someone else take the shot? :tearsofjoy:

I watched parts of the GSFL grand final stream as I have an interest in the VHFC.

Butcher took the mark at CHF then kicked it deep into attack where someone took a mark and goaled. Put Myponga a point ahead and siren went about a minute later.

Yeah mate, we know.

Just watched the replay of the last quarter of Geelong Brisbane.

What a cuck team we are in comparison. Played 3 finals and only turned up to play in one of them. Pathetic
Yeah that quarter was phenomenal. Brisbane's ability to hold up and then the execution of the players across the ground in those dying moments was insane. We would not have been able to compete at that level of intensity.

Here is the first 11 seasons we were in the AFL.

Gremio's list includes the post 2007 GF fallout.

In 2008 we won 7 games, in 2009 9 wins, and 2010 we were 5-2, then when we sacked Chocko 5-10 after his last game, and ended the season 10-12. 2011 we were 3-19.

But now we can see in comparison with other clubs.
I don’t think there’s many of us who haven’t done this. It’s ****ing depressing 😂.

Welcome 🙏

Updated, then.

I’m as resilient as Kenny, Chiw. You won’t boo me out. 😉

We are a poor-man Geelong.

Like the Cats we don’t simply make the 8. We usually either go top-3 or miss the postseason entirely. Also like Geelong, we struggle in Finals.

We win enough to be among the top-clubs. However, unlike the Cats, we do not win enough to compensate our Finals shortcomings.

I’ll check 2008-2019 later. Those 12 years should look ugly.

I think that Vics and Crowies wish this second period to be representative of Port. So, they end up ignoring the first 11 seasons.

Yet, one cannot simply ignore those years. What we have seen in the past 5 years is simply a return to the level we were as soon as we entered the league.

The point now, just like then, is that we could and should be BETTER. We aren’t overachieving. The worst part now is that our own club leadership fails to see it.

We are nothing like Geelong.

They have multiple premierships and grand finals in the last decade or so.

We have none.

On SM-G975F using BigFooty.com mobile app

It's written right there:

"We are a POOR-MAN Geelong."

We have been a sh*t version of them. That's why they have all those nice things, and we don't.

Geelong has the number of flags expected for their Minor Round record, but
it also has the same number of GF than Brisbane (with almost twice Top-3 finishes than the Lions) and the same number of premierships than Hawthorn (with two times more Top-3 finishes than the Hawks).

We have 2 flags fewer than expected.
