I'm surprised they've keep so many 30+ year olds - and the amount 33+ is unusual.

But maybe that's why is an easy sell to offer Perryman the role he wants. They'll be close to 10 retirements in the next 2-3 years, let alone delistings. Plenty of opportunities.
Plenty of opportunities but how much success?

Port
Out Houston and 54
In pick 11 and luko

Carlton
Out pick 11 future 2nd
In
Houston pick 54

Gc
Out
Luko
In
Port future 2nd Carlton future 2nd
I think you mean OUT for Port is Houston, 54 and 2nd future.

In that situation we're giving up too much, Carlton not giving enough, GC probably slightly ripped off.

Clubs should pay overs for a contracted 2 x AA who is in his prime. GC shouldn't demand too much if Port are able to take on all of Luko's salary since they want his salary off the books.

Luko finished the season in the VFL and is on monster money. This undoubtedly has to play into his value. The ability to 'buy' him from GC and retain our earlier picks has to be the objective. Trading big for Luko is just not worth it, he isn't that good.

These megatrade posts are the worst thing about the trade period.

We take unders so blues can make out like bandits?

Why?

2 1sts from blues has to be the demand

Luko can then either be offered our future second plus a 3rd rounder, Or Carlton’s future 1st for luko plus 26

Petaling from GWS is an interesting one.
Likes the big occasions.
Saved a couple of games, one with a last minute tackle and one with a mark.
Kicked a sealing goal in one game.
Can play in each third of the ground.
People's thoughts on whether we should make a play for him?

Wonder if we could tempt Melbourne back to the table if we include Lord (if he hypothetically was happy to go).

Houston and Lord to Melb + 36

Pick 5 and Melb F1 to Port.

On trade Melbs F1 + our F2 to GC for their pick 12 and Luko.

Leaving us with 5 + 12 in this draft and maintain our F1.

Still hoping Pickett does a last minute JHF

Melb already agreed to 2 1sts

Lessor and about there players are getting 2 1sts or a 1st and second this year

Why on earth would we give up a 2nd rounder plus a contracted sought after kf to get the same deal?

This is like some kind of reverse negotiating where they say deal done and then we keep making it worse for us?

Because I don’t believe Melb ever would have agreed to trade 2 firsts straight up when one of those is a top 5 pick without it requiring us putting in a sweetener or two somewhere along the lines.

Even the staunchest Port supporter knows that we aren’t getting pick 5 and potentially another top 10 pick for Houston alone. Melb need a key forward, we may have one that could tempt them into it easily.

Odds are next year Lord won’t be first 22 anyway unless we pick up some injuries. Georgiades + Luko then one of Lord, Finlayson, Esava then Marshall potentially fighting it out. Daresay without a big preseason, Lord starts at the bottom of that pack.

Clayton Oliver whispers. Geelong preferred. Picks to Port for Houston?

-Lukosius for a future 2nd
-Houston and probs 36 to North for 2
-2 to Richmond for 6 and 10 (assuming that’s what they get in the Rioli and Bolton trades)
-Use 6 and 10 to bring in 2 elite kids or help orchestrate a trade for Kozzie if he becomes available
-Use late picks to bring in Owies/Richards
-Hopefully still get Perryman as FA

I originally posted this in the Grand Final thread but I think it adds to the discussion here too.

Brisbane, like Collingwood last year, showed that it takes an elite small forward group to win the flag. That, apart from the recruiting of Rioli, has been Port's area of least emphasis in recruitment. We have thought some strugglers from successful teams and a converted small defender or two and a bit of late speculative drafting of smalls will get us by. Well that's clearly not where the game is going. Our drafting needs to address this short coming this year. I'm a little concerned that Richards from Collingwood, if we get him, will be as successful as Frankie Evans and Narkle (which is not very much). Brisbane had Rainer, Ahchee, Bailey and Lohman (all 1st rounders) and the outlier, but proven star when recruited, Charlie Cameron (originally a rookie) all running around their forward line. Small forwards need to be the most skilled, clean handling, quick thinking and opportunistic players on the field because they are under heat just about everytime they get the ball.

Lewis Young is horrible. Stay away.

Well according to the morning program on sen last week or the week before it was a fully fleshed out, done and dusted, handshake deal. Until Houston got cold feet with all the MFC drama. So yes, it was on the table and it was put forward months ago.
