I have a feeling Clurey even though he has 1 year left in his contract. They may push Scully & K. Marshall from the main to the Rookie list after delisting Narkle, F.Evans and possibly McEntee (1 year contract left).

This maybe year to delist aggressively due to quality of draft prospects and future draft years being compromised with Academy/FS and Tasmania coming in.
Yes please… but we will take the weak option and keep Clurey and McIntee

Will anyone else get delited apart from these:

Mcullum, Narkle and Evans
Kyle Marshall, Scully almost cetainly. I would not be surprised if Dylan Williams and/or McEntee were delisted. Get a feeling maybe 2 senior players maybe be delisted and re-rookied. Perhaps these maybe Jackson and Clurey.

Horrible pick for someone that doesn't even have SANFL standard skills, they've just gone with a tall bloke that can run 20m.
He kinda came out of nowhere so when he was drafted, I was hopeful they had scouted this kid hard and burned a pick on him but to be gone after two years shows we were shooting blanks at the 2022 draft.

Clurey is a must keep. I trust him more than I trust Esava down back.
From a risk management point of view, Marshall is a lower risk, higher reward. Dollars, time, AFL Size all on his side. Clurey ain’t playing Ones again unless we are 14th in round 22 and someone decides he is worthy of a farewell match.

Clurey will go surely. He has played 1 game in 2 seasons.

Contracted and if we delist him we've only got 1 ready made backup KPD.

Clurey is too small and too slow. Good bloke rule only thing keeping him on the list. Esava will be fine down back.

Clurey has played at a clearly higher level as a KPD than Esava has in his career, and I don't mind Esava as a KPD.

Again, we had our best defensive season in the Hinkley era with our KPDs being 188cm Jonas, 191cm McKenzie and 193cm Clurey. Height helps in a key position player, but it's not everything.

I also note that we had a couple of big bodied physical KPDs who could play on monster KPFs in Jackson Trengove and Dougal Howard and we forced them out of the club. Trengove is only 33 and is a John Cahill medallist, he could have been playing for us through the whole Hinkley era but we made the specific decision to go smaller.

Our KPP list management is absolute dogshit.

Dougal Howard physical?
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

I remember that GF versus Sturt, where a 177cm midget who barely came up to his kneecap, verbally monstered him, and he shrivelled up like a mouse facing a cat and slunk away 🥺

Couldn't stand up for himself against a young kid, and had zero effectiveness the entire game 🤢

Clurey playing at a clearly higher level as a KPD than Esava is debatable, Clurey played some good shut down roles but was never a star i think the last time he had a really good game for us was in the showdown in 2021 when he took Tex to the cleaners.

Esava struggled to fit in to our defensive mix this year but as a a complete newbie in defence he scored 24 coaches votes in 2023, including a perfect 10 against the crows. So he is capable of playing at a high level, and i reckon he has a higher ceiling than what Clurey ever had.

Dougal Howard was an overrated footballer from Port fans, the reality was he was just never that good. I know a few saints supporters (they seem to be everywhere for some reason) not one of them has ever said anything nice about Dougal Howard. Most of them have him in the spud delist category.

And we are going back to ancient history with Trengove, he was a good player and i really liked him, seemed like a good club man and the decision not to play him in the 2017 EF was a poor one. But his career just tapered off a little earlier than most and was in the game had past him by stage before he even hit 30. It happens, there was nothing about what he did at the dogs that suggested we made a monumental **** up not holding on to him.

To be fair, the 2nd round onward in that draft looks a complete bust for all clubs
Yeah, it is still early days but there isn't a lot of action at or after that pick.

There has been a bit of talk about our drafting guys and they definitely load up on drafts they like and go out of drafts they don't like.

They will pay to go up and get a guy they like.

At the moment, they are just being left down by their trading.

They loaded up on 2018 with early picks on Rozee, Butters and Duursma.
Loaded up again in 2019 with Bergman, Georgiades, Dylan Williams and Mead.
Chilled in 2020 for Academy pick Lachie Jones and Lord late.
In 2021, went hard for Sinn at the top and chilled for Burgoyne, Visentini and Hugh Jackson
2022, ultra chill with three talls taken late in McCallum, Marshall and Scully and all might be looking elsewhere already.
More chill in 2023 to get players traded in but picked up Anastasopoulos, Charleson and Lorenz late. And also a super chillax mid-season draft gold for Logan Evans.

There doesn't seem to be a lot of middle ground. They like to either go hard early or speculate late.

But for mine, it shows they are very, very aware of the quality of the drafts each year and go hard in good drafts and do other things like trading in other drafts and have an eye out for the freebies of Father/Son and Academy players.

There's still a role for Esava in defence on the monsters like Thilthorpe.

Making Aliir man up on them hurts our structure way too much.

Surprised with Clurey.

Realistically we have zero kpd depth outside of our best 22, which seems like a bad place to be.

Also, Charleson, McEntee and Williams all performed worse than him this year and deserved to be delisted more.

It his age profile unfortunately.
Clurey's 30 right now turning 31 in March.
They are looking at the list for when Tasmania heavily compromises the draft in 2 years.
