Do we think the news of Geelong sniffing around Matt Rowell may suggest Butters is a bit less gettable than they think? Man I hope so.
Butters has Vic interest with serious coin - like top 10 player stuff. I don't know about Rowell but I'd assume his offers would be good but not massive dollars. Might be Geelong are being a bit more economical in their approach.

Rowell is serious dollars from us as a Wines replacement if he likes. If he’s not getting massive offers elsewhere we go massive.

Lions into Oscar Allen as free agent, still only 25, would be handy with Marshalls future dodgy.

Would be surprised if he left West Coast, but I guess everyone has a price. Great forward, but he's had a few injury problems, hasn't he?

Everyone would be interested in Allen.

Unsure if he would be keen to leave his hometown, but from a career perspective it has its merits.

he’s going to spend his prime years at a rebuilding club, would you want to hope that they come good in the last 2-4 years of your career? Fair risk if you’re interested in success. While it’s not guaranteed anywhere else , you at least aren’t waiting.

I’ve always got the maximise career over team success vibes from Allen.

If WC offer him $1.(something) million a season, I can see him staying at home, earning stupid money in a rebuilding team.

AFL media kiddies have assessed how each list has been built. Port have had the most number of traded in players - 12. They count free agents as a separate category

We could see another new player (or two) playing in the trial game against the camries.

You probably couldn't find a better age profile for a list than right there. You have one guy potentially retiring at the end of the year in Boak and that is it. There is a huge chunk of the list about to hit their prime years.
Just need to hope there's enough talent in that profile to bridge the gap from us being a 20 year 'has been' team to premiers.

Because we sure as shit have had it over the last decade, but the gameplan has stank

Agree. The team on paper looks pretty well balanced across the field, without one zone being substantially weaker than the others. Injuries will hurt as much as ever this year, as our depth in certain positions is not great. Going forward, we're not threatened by ageing / retiring players but rather inadequate coaching and the flight risk of having a list full of really important Victorians.

I've heard some people wondering why Josh didn’t jump ship and go for the Richmond job or others. This is why. When a new coach takes over, they usually inherit a five-year rebuild. Josh is walking into this.
