Man, could've warned with a spoilers alert.....no, reckon we were scared with Yoey.
picked Brisbane in the end
From memory they've already locked in one moreThere won't be another season.
• Hartlett and our first-round pick for their first-round pick.
• A second-round pick.
• Lowden, Grigg, and a second-round pick.
• Cam Ellis-Yolmen and a second-round pick.
• A straight swap for Cam Ellis-Yolmen.
• A third-round pick, telling us to 'suck eggs' because '(Port Adelaide) need to get rid of him and don't have any choice in the matter', 'he refuses to go anywhere but the Crows', and '(Adelaide) have all the bargaining chips in the world'.
Exactly! A fit Polly is an absolute gun! Injury free he'll be great next year. There is no way we should be entertaining the thought of trading Polec, people forget he was coming off a career threatening injury this year & our ruck/stoppage system was as inconsistent as it's ever been.
Whilst he was disciplined twice this year as the whipping boy unlike a number of other expendables on our list he is one of our cleanest most damaging midfielders, with a bit of improvement in the ruck & inside mid department is capable of winning games off his boot.
Of all the players who had an inconsistent year he'd be one I could excuse as he was playing a lone hand at times as our only wingman with pace, we also wouldn't get anywhere his worth if he was put up for trade.
There won't be another season.
That is as may be, but has anyone at Alberton thought that putting a bit of confidence in the players that we have may be what is missing? Players may be professionals but they are not machines and people never do their best with the suggestion they may not be trying.
The players have been encouraged and given chances for a few years, but have let the club down repeatedly. We have some serial underperformers. They've been shown the carrot, now they're being shown the stick. This from adelaidenow today :
“If not, it does not mean you are bad people,” Thomas says. “But it does mean you will be unsuccessful.”
The message is clear. Port Adelaide will not tolerate mediocrity — and there will be change at Alberton, as to be highlighted in next month’s trade period when the Power will put a 13-player “trade bait” list before its 17 AFL rivals.

Thing is, there are 13 (probably more) players who are absolutely tradeable. Of course, not all of them will be traded. What this is designed to do is send a message - to put them on notice that they are expected to perform to a high level on a consistent basis. They'll respond either of two ways:While I agree with blaargh and MadFan23 that the players have had chances my opinion is that 13 is overkill. And publishing that such a list exists will lead to much more than 13 players thinking they do not have the coaches behind them.
And as for the last two years, well I don't really think 2016 can be looked at as a year of expectations. There were disappointing losses but except for the Carlton and Fremantle games not unexpected ones. We started off on a back foot with WADA and injuries just made it worse. I'm not sure if we put an unchanged side on the field at any time, if we did it wasn't often.
No need for a priority pick now that they have the recruit.
We effectively got Toumpas for a pack of crisps. We would have got such quality players at picks 50 (Richmond took Oleg Markov) and 68 (Essendon took Michael Hartley). What a waste of a trade and no one else would be that silly.
