Traded Luke Jackson [Traded with #44 and #67 to Fremantle for #13, F1 and F2]

Exactly, we gave them a 2nd rounder and a pick upgrade too, which at the time felt very generous. And we even waited a year to do it rather than push on some available buttons to do it a year earlier.

Jackson’s a premium talent, there’s going to be a premium pick involved.
I have to question this one, the Langdon trade made me angrier then any other trade we’ve done since following trades more. I thought it was horrific unders and I think you’d agree in hindsight…

Langdon's had a couple of great years but we gave you the 2nd pick of the 2nd round of the draft. He's great at what he does but is fairly one dimensional. I don't think a first rounder was ever on the cards.

You on traded that pick but could've picked up Sharp who you may get now for no more than that. Or you can count O'Driscoll as the replacement, he'll be better than Langdon pretty soon.

This is such a weird trade, already feels like big overs for our 2 firsts but I'm accepting the loss, would be stunned if we give up more than that though even though people seem to be expecting it?

Tbh this should be done pretty quickly on day 1 if the Dees had common sense, take 13 and F1 and run

Langdon had consecutive top 5 finishes in our BnF and was maybe 22 years old. Felt like massive unders when he left.

Dee’s might want to see how the Grundy deal plays out first, if that goes south wouldn’t it make sense for Melbourne to ask for Lobb as part of the deal?

people need to stop with the Jackson didn’t have the greatest season etc etc. he literally just turned 21. It’s not uncommon to have a little stagnation in year 2 or 3. He is A grade potential like it or not.
Ruckmen get beat to hell, I wouldn’t trade 2 first rounders for one even as promising as Jackson, how many times have we seen ruckmen lose form for seasons on end, even Cox had a few down years, NicNat, Grundy, Gawn, Goldstein, Ottens, to name a few.

On the other hand, how many times have we seen clubs trade second string ruckmen that become A graders for nix, Witts, Mumford, Hickey, Nankervis, just in the last few years, sorry for rambling.

The consensus amongst freo supporters at the time was his kicking was atrocious and they were happy to see the back of him

All our mids appear to have shit skills, because our forwards are below par.

We need god like skills (Mundy, Young etc) to hit our forwards, because they can’t create separation or space in the forward line.

The skills of our players seem to improve when they leave. It’s just the talent ahead of the ball improves.

Well, maybe the anti langdon camp was just way more vocal, because all i remember was freo fans s**t canning his disposal
Yeah there were definitely enough short-sighted Freo fans shit-canning his disposal while ignoring his age and every good thing he did. I think remember going on your board and saying how much better off Melbourne are going to be going for Langdon rather than Hill given the trade costs

just quietly i was one of the melbourne fans who agreed with them :)

I don't think this trade benefits anyone. I don't see why port would want to trade it at all.
Maybe Port are set on someone they can get with a later pick like Isaac Keeler and are happy to trade down if they can get some extra benefit.

Maybe 8 + F2nd for 13 + F1st makes sense in this case. Freo could on trade 8 + a F2nd for Jackson.

This is the same as us just trading Melbourne our two firsts.

Melbourne now seeking a top 7 pick and a future first. Source: afl website.

Melb is still losing on the deal but i'd reluctantly accept due to the fact that he is out of contract.
I will bet my house that there is absolutely no chance Melbourne get a top 7 pick AND a future 1st. Do find it funny how we seem to be getting higher and higher as we get closer to trade week

Happy Cracking Up GIF by Regal

This is grand…a market with one buyer and the price keeps going up…good luck with that.

I do agree that there is probably a small chance that we will get both but my assertion back in June about demanding 3 first rounders, before settling for 2 first rounders would've been the right play. Shoot for the moon. If we had of accepted 2 late firsts then by the time trade weeks is underway we probably accept even less.
