Yes it's palatable. I don't necessarily believe that Port give up 8 for just an F2 though so a bit to play out.
It would probably cost you a future first.

When Port moved from 11 into 6 in 2019 it cost the equivalent of something like pick 16 in points value.

For Freo to go from 13 into 8 (coincidentally also a 5 pick upgrade) it would probably cost you about the same, so that’s a future first round pick.

Journos use such vague slogans so they can say whatever the hell they want based off gut feel and no information. That way they can't ever be admonished for being wrong.

"My understanding is"....

ie my guess is....

Anyone with half a brain has known the entire time Eagles were never in on Jackson.

Media seems like it's more and more about educated guesses rather than actual investigative work nowadays.

If you want the scoop first you need to guess first.

No benefit for us then in that situation. Will still result in us giving up 13, F1, F2 for Jackson.

You give up a F1 in a pick swap when you are desperate for a player who will 100% be gone by your current pick. You don't do it so that you can pass it on to another team for an OOC player.

Yeah, I dont see the benefit of either Port or Freo doing this trade which is why I'm still banking it on being bogus. Either;
A) Port are weirdly happy with a North future 2nd, which would be against trading history
B) Freo give up a future 1st with something coming back, at which point, are Melbourne going to actually get something better than two first round picks?

Per like every other trade for big name player that is OOC, no one upgrades their first round picks to satisfy the team (unless someone has an example from the last 10 years). You work around the picks you have

Yeah, there's a lot of that going around. I disagree West Coast were never in on Jackson though.

While the Dockers have long been the favourites to secure Jackson, Eagles list boss Rohan O’Brien told SEN WA Breakfast his club was “well placed with a range of possibilities”, should the premiership ruckman choose West Coast.

O’Brien on Wednesday morning suggested there was “an air of confidence” the club could persuade Jackson to Lathlain, with plans to get in front of the player and his management in the coming weeks.

It was 2018 and that was for you to get into the super 7 from that year so I suspect there was a premium. That said, I still don't think our F2 is enough. Maybe North's would be.

Trading our first for it is pointless. We'd be better off just giving those picks to the Dees so that can't be it either.

Melbourne would want more.
He is out of contract. Hasn't had the greatest season..wants home?
What are you going to do.
Lobb would look good in their forward lime.
Lemons and lemonade..

We lost Ed Langdon for a fourth round 3 years ago. It happens..

Til

22, F2 (30), 79 for Langdon, 26 and F4 = fourth round pick :$.

And that was F2 from 17th place.

Exactly, we gave them a 2nd rounder and a pick upgrade too, which at the time felt very generous. And we even waited a year to do it rather than push on some available buttons to do it a year earlier.

Jackson’s a premium talent, there’s going to be a premium pick involved.

But he isn't an A grade

He's had a couple of great games and all the Melbourne supporters are making him out as elite

people need to stop with the Jackson didn’t have the greatest season etc etc. he literally just turned 21. It’s not uncommon to have a little stagnation in year 2 or 3. He is A grade potential like it or not.

Who said he doesn't have a grade potential?

Where’s the benefit to Port for trading that pick to you on the cheap so you can on trade it for a very highly rated player you want ?

Irrespective of how you want to use it, if you want to up trade to the pick from us you need to give us something that is of equal or greater value to us than pick 8.

Pick 8 for 13 and F2 isn’t enough.

Points system is such a faulty system.

Pick 8 should be 30-50% more points.

I don't think this trade benefits anyone. I don't see why port would want to trade it at all.

Comments about not being A grade now when it’s not relevant. It’s the potential now.

Obviously

You could say plenty of 20 year olds have a grade potential. He's uncontracted and was good but not great this season. With him only going to Freo as WC haven't offered up enough then Freo don't need to hand over an A grades ransom.

If Melbourne don't like the offer so be it.

Go tell Peter Bell and co that.
