Freo might have better luck with Adelaide, pick 5 for 13 and F1st as Adelaide would then use 13 in a deal for Rankine.

Also a top 5 pick should negate the need for another 1st pick so could use a pick they'll get from dealing Lobb, Acres and Louge to add to the Jackson trade
5 is already locked to go to GC for Rankine though

Nth 1, 56, P future 2nd.
Freo 13, future 1st, 73
Melb 33, 42, future 3rd

Jackson and Melb future 3rd to freo
Melb get 1, 56, 73 and nth future 2nd.
Nth get 13, 33 42, Freo future 1st, Tucker, Logue

It's not. Crows want to trade 5 down to 2 first round picks and send 1 to suns for Rankine.
How does that work?

So Rankine who was taken at the same pick as Jackson and has shown more in his time in the AFL is suddenly worth what, less than half of Jackson??

13 and f1 isn't enough for Jackson yet only 13 is for Rankine? Massive lol to that

Freo are paying up and crows will have to aswell

Totally different players and 1 has shown he will absolutely dominate in a few years. Rankine is really good but crows want to stay in the first round as they're only taking 1 draftee. Suns want future picks most of all for their academy picks so I believe there's been a deal made already between the two clubs that'll accommodate both.

Totally different players but Rankine has shown a lot more than Jackson so far, Jackson is still riding on potential

We are paying up for potential but Rankine has ripped multiple games apart already, no way should he be worth half of Jackson

Not over 3 years. Which is why are Freo trading out Acres, Meek and Logue to make cap space for Jackson.

Why would Jackson agree to that?
Why wouldn't Jackson agree to the PSD?

Why does he want his new team to give away a lot of assets? He should want his NEW team to be as successful as possible, not his ex-team/competition.

Forgetting the pick argument as everyone has a view I find your assessment of the players funny. In the sense I would argue Jackson has shown more - turned a grand final on its head - than Rankine. Also the deal “reported” initially from Freo was 7 years @ $1m per year. The biggest contract offer since Buddy and Tom Boyd

Rankine was dropped to the reserves last year and has had only one top ten B&F finish (at tenth) at a rubbish club playing a less important position than Jackson.

Rankine hasn't done what Jackson has.

13 and a F1 is certainly enough for Jackson, but if Melbourne want a top 5, here's a way to get it.

Why would GCS be throwing Pick 7 away with Bowes if Pick 5 was not locked in ??
You should ask them that - sounds really stupid, like delisting a contracted player assuming they won't just go to an opposition team.

Pick 5 for Rankine sounds fair to me. No way the Suns accept a pick in the teens.

As for Jackson you'd think this years pick + F1 would be the deal
Pick 5 is fair for the GCS.

It sucks for the Crows. Who are they bidding against? He's an uncontracted player that's named his future team, and what the Crows offer is the only return GCS can get for him.

It's stupid for the Crows to overpay, like it was for Dawson, or for the WB for Keath, or any number of uncontracted players who leave.

Jackson won the rising star and was instrumental to winning a flag.

Rankine was dropped due to lack of form and hasn't won anything.

Paddy Cripps hasnt won anything either - does that mean he’s worth less than Jack Graham who’s won 2 flags?
Of course not, just highlighting the folly of pointing out what players have “won” in a sport with equal talent distribution and a salary cap.
This isn’t the EPL where all the best players play for the top sides.

Cripps not your best example.

Did you miss brownlow night?

Freo fans are just annoyed they are targeting a luxury player they dont need this hard. Freo ssw the exodus and wanted to get a player back and this was the option

He will do okay but he isn’t worth it to them since he will just be a 2nd choice ruck

If your want is for the club to screw the other team, then just own it. Stop pretending you are advocating for a 'fair' deal.

And I notice Dawson went okay in the B&F.
