We had one unlikely hero in Duigan last week and if we were to have another this week, it may just be Casboult.

Your back-line functions well without doubt but if the ball does come in right, the 190cm Grundy may find it hard against the 198cm Casboult.

Reckon Sydney may just find it tough somewhere through the finals without LRT. Big loss for you guys.

Grundy has been good for most of the year in marking situations this year so I'm confident he can keep Casboult down. Has Warnock shown anything recently when drifting forward? His height on its own is worrying but I haven't watched enough of Carlton over the last 6 weeks to know properly.

I'm worried about your rebound from HB. Walker, Simpson and Tuohy (who is getting a little overlooked in favour of the other two IMO). I would hope Longmire is preparing to be more proactive with respect to those three than he was with Birchall and Hodge last week who had 50 touches and 14 marks between them and really outplayed us from the HB line.

Well there lies our problem.
We play too many shut down roles leaving us a step behind after winning the clearance. We don't have enough players in attacking positions once we win the ball because we have been in such a defensive mindset over the last 6 weeks. Just one step behind leaves us vulnerable.

I'm confident the coaches & leaders will have rectified our issues. Not playing Goodes is a good start. I still strongly believe that Towers has been made sub for another unknown injury to a tall. Mumford, Tippett, Everitt or White are the reasons he is there.
Is Mumford right to go after coming off at 3Q time. With Kreuzer out, this leaves them weaker in the ruck so now White can do some ruck work. Towers could play White's role but he has greater acceleration.

So my hunch for late changes should these players not come up would be Towers in for Mummy. Lamb in for Bolton.
This makes us more mobile up forward. Lamb is a very smart forward & I would be more comfortable with him there for this game.

Not all of them were meant to be Swans playing on Blues. Some of them are just head to heads and some of them aren't.

Mumford was just taken out because he wasn't playing that well, according to Longmire. Needed someone to leave the game to get Jetta on. He's in no doubt surely.

Jude will be kept in. He's not playing as well as he was around halfway through the year but unless he is completely buggered and can't walk, Longmire won't jettison him now (for better or worse). He will playing him until we are out.

Good luck on Saturday night guys and girls. Kruezer not passing a late fitness test is a real kick in the pants to Carlton as more ruck load will need to fall onto Warnock. Casboult's attack at the footy is good but as a ruckman he is poorer than Mumford and Pyke

I'm a bit concerned with the in's for Sydney. Two very inexperienced players but you have to play with the cards you are dealt and with the amount of injuries to key players at the Swans, Cunningham and Biggs (liked what he did against Hawthorn) had to be in the mix

I know Goodes has had a line ruled through him for 2013 but you'd have to say the same for LRT who has been sorely missed

Looking forward to seeing the Judd vs. ROK go head to head when they do as ROK will be assigned to Judd for most of the night I presume

Swans to get up and KT to have a night out on the under sized Jamison so long as White, Pyke and Mumford stay out of his way. Swans by the under 18 margin and bring it to the Dockers next weekend at Patersons

Does anyone know how the ANZ surface will stand up after two rugby league matches tonight. Was watching 360 last night and Barry Hall seemed quite skeptical about how it would hold up

That NRL doubleheader is being held at the SFS (Allianz Stadium - next to the SCG) tomorrow afternoon and evening. There's a game being played at ANZ tonight so hopefully the surface won't be too shot but who knows with that ground. It's certainly better than it used to be, but nowhere near the standard of the MCG or SCG.

Very little. Mick has been working on playing him forward at times in the VFL but to very little advantage.

Strangely though when he is present around the centre of the ground, he does stand out like a beacon and the ball may not be directed to what may have otherwise been a favourable position for the opposition.

Even Carlton people repeatedly dismiss his influence but insiders know just how valuable he can be.

Good thoughts.
ANZ is horrible & was no doubt part responsible for why we couldn't run the game out last week.
They need to cut the grass shorter & this will help it to stay dry a little better.

Hate it!

There is an under 20 game before the main game tonight. If it rains tonight also the ground might be in bad condition tomorrow

Yeh I had a feeling McLean would be brought in. If he's fit, you'd be hard pressed to keep him out of a cut-throat final given the way he attacks the ball and the contest.

Some match ups that I think are pretty good chances:

Smith to Betts
Richards to Waite
Rampe to Duigan
Grundy to Casboult/Warnock
Unsure who will get Garlett, Biggs or Everitt (Dre got him earlier this year)

ROK to Judd
Kennedy to McLean
Jack to Murphy
Hannebery to Gibbs

Jamison to Tippett
Henderson to Pyke/Mumford
McIness to White (though I think Walker to try get the Jesse match up and do what Hodge did last week is a big chance)
Bird to Simpson
Bolton to Tuohy

It will be interesting to see who Jack ends up playing on. In the regular season game, Murphy was out so he actually ended up getting tagged himself by Cachia. Cachia isn't in the team this week but Curnow is more than a capable replacement.

If Smith didn't have such a good history against Betts I would have suggested Rampe on Betts to counter his strength in the air and have Smith on Garlett instead. But it won't happen.

The surface there is already a joke let along playing 2 games of NRL on it. It will be in bad shape no doubt come tomorrow night

One of the NRL games is Sunday night, there aren't two there tonight I don't think.

Five pages??? You guys know its on this week don't you? Would hate to turn up and find the place deserted with the lights off.

Thanks for your feedback Cosmo. Please kindly note that this is the "Official" preview thread where one of our users has provided a great writeup on the coming game. This was only posted yesterday afternoon.

You are welcome to peruse to "Unofficial" preview thread which was closed yesterday - it has 22 pages giving us a total of 27 pages which isn't too far off your board's corresponding thread which has 30 pages. Given we have a smaller user base, on a pro rata basis we are smashing your puny efforts. Cheers.

Casual decimation.

Forget the ruck but don't underestimate Casboult's contested marking he will stretch us deep.

I'm expecting a fired up team tomorrow. Predicting jack, Kennedy , Richards , hanners and Tippett to be the best.not sure Carlton have he defence to negate tippett.they are quite small back there . Jameson to play on Tippett. I can't see walker standing in the hole, might have to be Duigan . Not sure which match ups they have for pyke and Mumford when they go forward. If our mids can get back to their A game, our tall forwards will have a night out
