So WaynesWorld19 not prepared to put down a threshold of where you backtrack on your opinion on Nicks?

Previously you said the only thing he had to prove was how he coached in finals. Well given this season is shot to bits when he went rogue bonkers, played a vanilla midfield, odd selections, inability to curtail intercepting defenders, what’s it going to take?

If he survives and we don’t make finals in 2025 will that be it? Or is there no breaking point that applies to Nicks because he’s the awesomist coach ever?
Sorry George, been busy

There's a prediction COLL could miss the 8 this year, after a Premiership last year ....due to their injury list
Should Macrae come under scrutiny for poor performance .....shouldn't COLL's list be better than the Crows ?

I've already answered your question, in the multitude of posts above ....a Coach is judged on their ability to maximise performance of the list ....and the list management quality is judged by the footy dept / CEO ....factoring in the health of the squad

That's always been the case, and will continue to be so ......people like Rowe, are buffoons catering to their audience .....and I bet everyone tuned in to hear & cheer all the negativity

Unbelievable that 4 of our list management committee are Roo, Silvers, Kelly and the CFO. Not exactly a sharp group.
It beggars belief that our GM of football isn't a football person.

Roo wouldn't be as much of an issue if we had a proper person in this role.

Yeah, trying to defend the indefensible.

It’s truly amazing that you are going down the path of injuries, most of which are recent and after the coach went rogue bonkers changing our gameplan.

Injuries had nothing to do with him choosing a vanilla midfield mix which he had to be dragged kicking and screaming to change.

Injuries had nothing to do with the Pedlar Stewart matchup and then giving up on doing anything about Stewart at all.

Injuries had nothing to do with our on going issues with intercept defenders.

Injuries had nothing to do with continuing to play McHenry.

Injuries had nothing to do with subbing Nank after a strong game for a cooked Smith who you want to vomit on.

Injuries had nothing to do with playing drafted mids out of position.

Injuries had nothing to do with taking so long to debut Dowling.

Injuries had nothing to do with our slow starts, which according to you were due to him allowing the players to self motivate 🤣

Collingwood with all their injuries are out of the 8 on percentage. Not a good comparison Wayne.

Given you won’t actually address any performance benchmark for Nicks, perhaps you can provide 3 reasons why Nicks is the right man.

Yes, he seems to miss the point when we had minimal injuries and we were 0-4 after four rounds. Horrendous that he can’t seem to see the bleeding obvious.

And Collingwood got off to a horrendous start which after you win a premiership can occur - think it is called a premiership hangover.

What's wrong with a good old Moral Finalist TM hangover?

Don't be fooled by the article's title. It's a vapid puff-piece.
I didn't think any 'hard' or 'big' questions were asked, but even the ABC has got a sniff of the Crows being on the nose:

There are obvious holes in our list, through injuries, failed development and not filling required holes depth wise (back-up ruck for example), but it looks to me one of the biggest issues outside of that is what ever the gameplan is that Nicks cooked up over the off-season.

It's obsessively inside focused and we play amazingly loose defensively because it feels like everyone is trying to set up to get to a (perceived or real) contest. There were parts of the game where you can obviously see where Richmond are gonna move the ball, and our guys and instead of moving towards them just keep creeping away because they're moving towards the pack of players so they can be reinforcements if needed (I'm guessing).
In some ways it's Brenton Sanderson all over again.

At least he gave us the Sando Spike. All this guy has given us is the Nicks Nadir.

I doubt any posters would be calling for Nicks to be sacked if he won a flag the previous season... if only!!!

However, 5 seasons of missing finals when you are a 44.4% chance of playing finals in an 18 team competition hardly warrants a 2 year extension.

Name me the successful coaches who have missed finals for their 1st 5 seasons.

Given your continued support of the indefensible, you must be on the club's payroll... but no one on here is buying your bullshit!

It's not thinking outside the square, it's being on another ****ing planet!

Sando had Bailey (til stupid AFL ban), whereas there is not one of our coaching group with strategic smarts.

Hence we will continue to be regularly out coached.

The Matthew Nicks fan club has reached the stage where Wayne's been asked to turn the light off if/when he decides to leave as he's the only one left.

... which begs the question why?

The problem with the narrative of a rebuild was that it was never a rebuild. I'm not sure how we sold it as such but maybe the club initially used the term in association with Nicks rebuilding the culture. Someone in the media started talking rebuild and the narrative just grew. But its an out and out lie.

Nicks first game in charge

I dont see any intention of rebuilding that side. 9 of those players 90 games later still play. Would have been 10 had Sloane not retired with injury.

Of our entire 2020 squad, 20 listed players remain on our 2024 list (including Sloane).

Port Adelaide - have just 18 players remaining from their 2020 list.
Collingwood - have just 13 players from their 2020 list.

There is literally zero excuse for us being in our current position. Yes we have injuries but our depth should have well and truly been there by now. And then we have the club treating us like we are stupid and then happy clappers coming on here refusing to lay blame where it belongs, on Nicks.

A good mate of mine has a wife and daughter and a fixed speed camera near his place.
Both have been pinged THREE times by that same speed camera; same location, same warning notifications, nothing's different.
Once, ok, that's not paying attention, but TWICE more after that with more likely? It's nuts, beyond careless.

Like them, sadly, Nicks has not, does not, learn from his mistakes.
It's an old wisdom but it is said, "Something that happens once will never happen again. But if something happens twice, it's guaranteed to happen a third.

My favourite is this quote, which I think sums up the AFC right now.

Stupidity is doing the same thing, over and over again, but expecting different results.”

So we are winning a 3rd flag...
